QUOTE(strinq @ Apr 30 2010, 02:36 PM) Oh man, I am very very interested. Hey, very interested in what? Oh just a little note to everyone here. I have the nitecore headband and if you're wearing glasses, headlamps with the lights at the side isn't very comfortable. Better get a dedicated headlamp like the Zebralight H series, Petzl etc. They'll be glare off ur glasses. Btw, thanks for the experience update. Zebralight headlamp rocks. QUOTE(damonlbs @ Apr 30 2010, 02:53 PM) wouldnt it b nicer to climb a hill that can see the KL city night view when u reach the top? Hey you seem to have a lot of resources, better come for the next yea QUOTE(MetalZone @ Apr 30 2010, 02:58 PM) If your stamina is good it only takes about 15-20 mins to reach the first peak, then it's just a little bit more to go the next 3 slightly higher peaks. OK good info, we'll take the 3 slightly higher peaks. But the Mountain expedition will have to be another time We could possibly try an evening hike to see the sunset and picnic/minum up there till it's really dark then you can test flashlight all you want. I could bring my camera gear and tripod up (but need help Oh and regarding travelling time, it takes me about 45 mins to travel to subang or kelana during off-peak hours. So yeah 1 hour is a good estimate for non-jam hours. According to Metalzone and the map, it's a road all the way down pass University Nottingham in Sermenyih. I would really like to check it out first The tentative date at the moment for this is on the 29th May 2010, Saturday. Meanwhile, let's not forget Bukit Kiara, I would also wanna check that out. QUOTE(polkiuj @ Apr 30 2010, 03:39 PM) I've been there once I guess. It's more of a biking trail, I guess too long for walks unless U know the ways. U know how to get to the entrance? |

QUOTE(RookieDaddy @ May 1 2010, 02:55 PM) EDIT: maybe for members who don't wear glasses there will be lesser or no glare? Yea I was also gonna say it's because we're wearing glasses. It glares on mine too. Probably more suitable if it was more protruded out, like attached to the side of a helmet. |

QUOTE(RookieDaddy @ May 3 2010, 10:15 AM) guys, a couple of links for your reading... Hey thanks for posting this, good reading indeed and looks like we have all the best lubes (Nyogel, Krytox, DeoxIT Gold)1. Comprehensive Grease and Lube Thread (link to page 16). Do take note about the advise to protect yourself when servicing your flashlight and to thoroughly clean your hands when done. 2. 玉树归来,浅谈地震PSK应急物资. This thread is from China's biggest flashlight enthusiast site. Try using Google to translate post #3, which relate author's experience to flashlight used at ground zero(?). The Yushu's earthquake experience is very good indeed, had to read couple of times to understand the translation. The participation and response from the government also played a critical role in providing food and water in a short time. Lots of good info and experiences in there (well except the casualties part and amount of lost, sigh QUOTE(old newspaper @ May 3 2010, 11:15 AM) Malkoff MD2 with M61 to arrive... QUOTE(MetalZone @ May 3 2010, 01:20 PM) ...how exactly did the other two lights fail? He only brought one REAL surefire right? Ah, he said he brought four flashlights:1) Surefire E2DL - which was very good, from beginning to end (which means the duration he was there to assist in the aftermath). But I'm not sure what he meant the SF E2DL always down. Maybe he meant the runtime on high. 2) Surefire M3T with Philips 7388 Xenon bulb - which he said "good stuff!" and was satisfied with it. 3) Solarforce L2 with R2M drop-in - Which said was working well in Beijing (probably where he's from) but at the site, it had contact issues the next day and the following day it retired. He mentioned about the light felt hot and suddenly broke down. Changing batteries did not work. 4) Jetbeam C-LE - He mentioned both L2 and C-LE felt hot and later mentioned the C-LE had burnt out. Replacing batteries also did not work. My guess is that both L2 and C-LE was overdriven for turbo/max, without proper external cooling it kaput? Aku bantah!!! Cool white rocks! The real cool whites... not the greenish puke. Let's all proof our worth at KD Trail tonight!
Anyway, the TK20's XRE Q2 neutral is very nice actually. After some use, it has the depth and enrichment. I find that it's better than QMini Neutral and Zebralight |

(RANT ALERT)
Thinking about it, all the older LEDs seems to have very nice tints and better rendering, until there was like an efficiency race (more lumens per watt), or was it just CREE alone? Oh and Luminus too - Philips Rebel 100 is like 2 years ago tech? This is one beautiful Cool White LED. - The K2 LED (somebody help me with this)? looks pretty good too. Used on the Innova (dannie has it - The XRE-Q2 - awesome bin for the neutrals. - The XRE Q3 5A also seems like good stuff - MCE - TK40's tint looks great, Cool White, "more yellow" . - And lastly, the XRE Q5 and R2. The last of nicer cool whites (although compromised a little) - Then the XPE and XPG comes along, a record breaking lumens per wat achieved in 2009. WOW! Great! That's what we needed! We were all excited about it until....... those flashlights arrived and we leap as though we flew in the air and embrace that beauty... and then we switched it on............. Haha, thanks for the effort in translating that whole section!
Jetbeam C-LE is an old product, and we knew that the early ones had issues? Perhaps their line of products now have improved. I have put the RRT-0 in a 6-8 hours test, but on medium/low modes though. Some of my Fenix's, Zebralight's, all have gone thru continuous runs up to 8 hours or more. |

Heys, it appears that they don't ship out of the US: http://www.batteryjunction.com/surefire-e2dl-bk-dual.html
But you can ask thru their customer service, addressing it to Mattk. However, it does not support 18650 sizes. If Batt Junction still won't ship out for you to Malaysia, you can get it from eBay, which I know one member here does it An 18650 light is bigger though, than an E2DL in comparison. If you still want an 18650 light specifically and properly regulated for 4.2v Li-IONs, there are other brands that we can recommend and from our local flashlight dealers. Some of those are: - Fenix TK11 - Olight M20 - EagleTac T20C2 MKII Alternatively, if you still want the E2DL, I personally would go for 2x LifePO4 (123 size) and a WF-138 charger with it |

QUOTE(polkiuj @ May 5 2010, 09:35 AM) Since the E2DL is a buck only driver, I don't see why 2 x 3.7V Li-ion cannot be used. The Inova T1 (also primary only) has no issues at all with 2 x 3.7V Li-ion. If you are extremely brave, why not try it and report your results. Haha, it will be an expensive test I don't think any harm will be done to the LED with 2x 3.7v (8.4v). More for the circuit if it is not designed to take a higher voltage. But a circuit designed by Surefire I'm assuming there should not be problem though. Even though they said they had run 2x RCR123 without issues, but they didn't say how long they had continuously ran it on. Mdocod's didn't confirm the 9v full compatibility. Any more solid info? Good to know This post has been edited by pseudoblue: May 5 2010, 10:05 AM |

Some update findings:
1) Zebralight H501w Headlamp: So far, this little light has been shutting off at ~1.0v with a NiMH Imedion, on high mode. I needed to check at what voltage it will terminate and if it will terminate on low mode even. So, I've ran the light on low every night, for the past weeks and sometimes I didn't get to test it because I'll always take it and use it on high again. So last week, I've manage to let this light shutoff automatically. I woke up one morning and notice the light had switched off, and it wouldn't turn on after pressing the button repeatedly I can safely say the H501w has been outstanding and reliable. It has gone thru at least 4 weeks of overnight runs on low (5-7 hours). and 1-4 hours of continuous run (in between battery changes) on high mode in several occasions. 2) The HXY (HexInYu) Charger for 18650 Li-ION also seems to work well with IMR 18500s (with spacers). It will terminate at 4.20v and then settles to ~4.19v an hour later. |
