officially accepted into the bright side forums tongue.gif

maybe I'll just migrate there

anyway, my other package arrived.
Glow Blue tailcaps and TIR reflector for my osram light

the glow blue actually glows green... kinda disappointing but they glow well

the reflector is too fat... also disappointing but easy mod with some sandpaper to fit laugh.gif

just daily use but not an EDC i have a cheap aaa as an EDC. i am planning to take this into the jungle also since this one can be charge using usb i can just use my power bank if needed i am attracted to this function actually. correct me if i am wrong, but is this the only flashlight that can be charge using usb on a regular 18650?
*
got a lot of olight and nitecore can charge via usb oso

like olight s10r/s15r or nitecore MH series

but with the size of a powerbank you're better off with more 18650's instead tongue.gif

fenix uc35 fits your needs biggrin.gif
(failed to help lol)

haha true but i do not have a 18650 charger. oh oh i know about the olight but if i am not wrong those olight can only be used with their battery right? with the uc35 you can just throw any 18650 and it will work and also charge
*
olight recommends working with their own batts but they're just an ordinary panasonic 3400 cell wrapped with protection.

you can avoid it if you're afraid of battery danger but I don't see a problem as long as it is charging with the correct algorithm

single 18650 charger can be easily made by ripping off dead powerbanks just to use their charge circuit
I'd still recommend you to use proper charging from Xtar or Nitecore.

Charging in a flashlight tube brings me worries about heat and voltage issues where you can't monitor them

(but then again I'm not the right person to speak as I'm using some xxxFire 18650 risking my life because my good cells died) doh.gif sweat.gif rolleyes.gif

stay safe and happy charging

yup i got think of that before also but i think i will use the internal charging only when i need it after all our cell phone has being doing it for so long already i don think there will be a very big issue with heat. hahaha you can get xiaomi powerbank and rip off their battery i heard that their 18650 are good quality ones

Thank God this thread is back alive.

Come come tell me more about batteries.
*
wanna know more about my batts?

I dumped all of my sanyo 18650 purple tops because my RM10 NightFire 18650 provides more amps and runtime and doesn't overheat when I charge them with 1A

my sanyos were all dead overheated when charging it with 1A yawn.gif

good cells are too expensive whistling.gif

Your NightFire 18650 ori or imi?

Charging with 1A with PCB shouldnt overheat right? Because the chip should protect it.
Tell me more general stuff about batteries also, or is there any good site to read about it? Share with me.
*
idk what to share other than candlepowerforums

my nightfire looks like a fake product but performs like real
good imitation i guess

my sanyos are actually laptop pulls. so they are kinda risky~ whistling.gif
no pcb on them.

my nightfire DOES HAVE PCB
but it's just a fake pcb and it doesn't protect the cells at all. (ripped one open just to find out a circuit board with no components.)

oh well.

I'm still hoping to find a seller that sells Panasonic 3400mah for less than RM30
guess I'm just a cheapskate.
prolly gonna order my cells from fasttech.com

Omg I just checked this in Fasttech and they only offer the shipping option of registered surface mail - which mean it is going to be painfully slow to arrive here. shakehead.gif

Anyway it is still better than nothing at all, haha.

2 months~ oh well~

too many missing planes lolol

Actually I doubt if any of these plane-missing cases are caused by li-ion batteries...

Forbidding the shipment of lithium batteries is due to the stricter custom regulations in many countries nowadays, and all of these started from China custom actually. AFAIK there were a few cases that the lithium battery package were exploded at the custom in China at the end of year 2013 (before any of the recent airline tragedies happened), therefore no more lithium batteries are allowed to be shipped with regular airmail since then.

But some sellers are still smart enough to sneak out of this though. rclxms.gif and I am not sure if FedEx, DHL and those more expensive courier companies can legally ship these batteries or not.
*
but then again general consumer still thinks chinese batteries explode so....................................

ultrafire or ifire any good? or cree? wanna get a small flashlight for emergency purpose.
*
how much are you willing to pay?

because those 3 brands out there mean nothing to me.
they're branding this with every copies out there (blame chinese)
cree is the LED used in their lights. but then again some claimed Cree led when they are using some cheapo 3w led

in the meantime I'm hunting for a 3D maglite clone for beating up strangers
Cheapest I found Rm39.90 rclxub.gif

Less than RM300. Bigger lumens equal brighter light? Want to get Fenix brand. Can recommend one? I need it to shine my backyard, which is less than 20metre.

Edit: PD35 vs UC35. Tempting.
*
yea. bigger lumens equals brighter light. but it's usually only on the led bead
reflector also plays a huge role on how much light you wanna shine.

I'd go with PD35 2014 if you can afford as warranty is easy to claim
but if you don't mind warranty I'd skip fenix and jump to these 2

There's also Thrunite TN12 and Nitecore P12 2015 of the same class.
I find thrunite the best for daily use due to it's color tint and the ultralow moonlight feature
nitecore being the most in modes and features as well as voltage indicator

fenix being the most professional in the class but lacks a few important stuffs like low low moonlight and tailstand capabilities.

my final vote is to buy thrunite tn12 for it being the best and cheapest. you get to spend your extra money somewhere like batteries and charger if you don't own any 18650

3 inch cute and can churn out 900 lumens. Damn and they have to put in a red light no sense not to buy!

I am a sucker for this chili padi. No regret tho. Still drolling.
