Like infrasonic im kinda curious, what is it about flash lights thats so interesting to you collectors?
With that said I want one just because of a cool quote i read somewhere regarding light sources
Can anyone recommend me a flashlight thats small enough to fit in my pocket, I'd prefer something really bright and not too expensive. Mostly going to use mine at night to see whats around me if that helps narrow down the choices

Bumping this dying thread. It's been more than a year I did not visit this thread..so quiet.. Seems like this hobby not so active. Well, I almost semi retire since my last purchased of Trustfire X8, Xeno E03, Lumintop TD15, and Fenix LD01.. ALmost complete from big gun to tiny keychain mosnter LD01 Only recently just to kill boredom and I found the technology of LED taking another leap. Previously one of the brightest LED in 2010-2011 - Trustfire X8 at 1000lumen.. already bypassed wth so many LEDs that can shined even brighter...now >8000lumen The one I'm eyeeing for is the Trustfire TR-J18 - 8000lumen but looking at the size of my current X8...Instead of looking for that giant size, probably smaller but capable of shining >2000 lumen such as skyray king or even Nitecore Tiny Monster Damn...just as about to retire and now the technology going further This post has been edited by stimix: Jan 11 2013, 09:19 AM

Mostly going to use mine at night to see whats around me if that helps narrow down the choices The cheap RM10 pasar malam police flashlite will not shine as bright of less than 10-20 lumen. They are using those cap ayam LED emitter of 1w to 3w and you really need to compare wth expensive lights using CREE emitters.. If I tell you even my 1000lumen Trustfire X8 shine brighter than my car headlamp you tak-kan percaya Well it's true.. Even my Tiny Fenix LD01 on Li-Ion battery can shined >100lumen output - 10X more than those pasar malam flashlite

QUOTE(xsaed @ Jan 14 2013, 12:48 PM) i concur. i bought LD01 based on stimix's recommendation... its truly helpful.. due to small size with higher lumens compared to pasar malam one. LD01 if using normal AAA -1.5V can only shined max 70+ lumen but once you change to Li-Ion battery wth 3.7V can go higher than 140lumen Doubed the performance of AAA. However very hot after a while and battery will drained off faster than AAA...Nice keychain EDC. I always used it in Pasar Malam and shiok comparing wth those Police Pasar malam RM10 flashlite.. The seller..sure at my tiny light overperforming some of their even bigger Police This post has been edited by stimix: Jan 14 2013, 02:20 PM

QUOTE(xsaed @ Feb 1 2013, 11:46 AM) how warm does it get when at full blast Have not really put > 3-5min.. And furthermore still using my leftover mths ago charged battery - Can't really comment on this.. However, from my testing Yesterday, it's almost the same heat as per my old Trustfire X8 (1,000lumen) ..slightly warm after 3min on hi-mode. Without meter, it's ~ 80% brighter than Trsutfire X8 althoigh rated at 2500lumen. and ~2-5 sec after switch on on hi-mode, automatically the brightness redcued..I'm not sure why..maybe my mixed batteries? Interm of throw..well...I hv to say, Trustfire X8 throw further and this Skyray more like floody light. Brighten nearby area compare to smaller angle by trustfire.
