oh my god. the few previous pages was garbage! thanks davidgary/tinkerbel for deleting those unwanted posts. still got some..but heh let's just move on
btw i updated the 1st post a bit..added some links n notice.. i still cant find what makes facetime so special compared to normal videocalls. if this is a 'new' open standard, then it has to have a new feature than the current one dont. if not, who wants to implement a new technology which doesnt to anything new? i watched the keynote podcast n the video n sound quality when Jobs facetimed (?) Ives is kinda similar to iChat (on my connection anyway). is it better than our normal 3g videocalls? i cant compare with my experience cuz my phone has a small screen heheh also during the keynote i realised the stainless steel sides of the iphone 4 is shinier than the pics on the website n in the leaks This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Jun 9 2010, 07:23 PM |

QUOTE(kae_ae @ Jun 9 2010, 09:22 PM) No offense to JBers, it is technically illegal to JB: it voids the warranty doesnt it? Thats why if u do returns make sure to restore it. My point was strictly to imply something basic should not be available only thru non-approved methods by the manufacturer. Its common sense. More so for a mass consumer product. voiding the warranty doesnt mean it's illegal right? im not sure if it against the EULA or not.And its apparent that its gonna take awhile for apple to provide camera to ipod n ipad if at all. They want to push the iphone 1st, the ipad n ipod are more niche products. At best since iphone now got 5mp they give the 3.2mp cam to ipad n ipod. They will want to keep the 5mp exclusive to the iphone to boost sales. probably ipod touch will just get the old 2mp camera from the iphone 2g heheh. dun forget the 3GS is still on sale |

well as others have mentioned, jailbreak != piracy, although it often leads to.
btw QUOTE Essentially, bigger pixels mean better pictures, as they can gather more light. The new iPhone’s chip has pixels that measure 1.75 µm. Assuming that this means the pixel-pitch, we can compare it to typical sizes for other cameras. The Nikon D3, for example, has an 8.5 µm pixel-pitch, or nearly five times that of the iPhone 4’s pixel-pitch. More typically, a compact camera will have a pixel-pitch of around 2 µm, which puts the iPhone clearly in the range of “real” cameras of the point-and-shoot variety. wow i just pasted the quote and the "read more..." part is suddenly there. never seen before hahaRead More http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2010/06/why.../#ixzz0qMjUizek |

it doesnt pause one app n switch. most parts of the app like the UI etc will be 'paused' but the main function is still running. e.g. u're uploading photos in flickr, switching to another app doesnt stop the upload, it will continue in the background.

i agree with mmmbop. this year is a good time to get a new phone. android is pretty mature already
anyway please refrain from using the word 'fanboy' then 'no offense'. the word fanboy can be considered as a degrading term, so it is offensive. sure we have some people who'll buy any product with an apple logo on it, but i believe most of us here arent those kind of people. unless your company is forcing you to use an iphone, dont buy it if you dont like it. super-AMOLED vs IPS? i have to try it out for myself 1st |

QUOTE(laowai @ Jun 10 2010, 02:26 PM) no one answered you because if you'd simply went to apple.com, u'd answer yourselfthere's a spec sheet there. everything the iphone can do is there. if it's not there, like radio n video output, meaning it can't. as for the RAM, apple hasnt disclosed it, so no one knows for now. |

QUOTE(yusvogue @ Jun 10 2010, 02:52 PM) Well to me I'm just saying that 'why not iphone?' Dont just judge my statement bluntly... if u read previous pages u should now "why not iphone?". iphone can even trim movies, obviously it can trim songs to make ringtones too, but apple doesnt allow it. there's a ringtone businessAdded on June 10, 2010, 2:55 pm I'm an iphone user... And yess.. I know you can edit from the itunes... within minutes.. It's just my point of view.. even with this iphone 4 i still can see a few drawbacks. no bluetooth file transfer, no widgets, no easy-to-reach on/off switch for wifi, BT etc, no wireless sync. yet people are complaining about cannot make ringtones? +_+ if u want a phone that can make personalized ringtones, the nokia 3310 is perfect for u. u get to key in each tone exactly as u want it to. |

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jun 10 2010, 08:45 PM) but hummingbird cortex a8 processor in samsung galaxy s is slightly faster than a4 chip right? there's no way to compare the performance of those two chips because we cant run them on the same OS. it's like comparing an intel chip on a mac against an AMD chip on a PC. to compare two processors u need to get them on a same system, with the exact same load, and see which one can do it faster. Ghz or Mhz is nothing today. it's all about how the processor and OS utilize those cycles efficiently.i saw this in somewhere..need to dig it out that being said, it is speculated that Intrinsity, the folks who created Hummingbird, are partly responsible for the A4. because only two companies were successful in pushing the cortex a8 to 1ghz which is qualcomm (snapdragon) and intrinsity. you can read more here: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/10/04..._processor.html QUOTE(evrythincool @ Jun 10 2010, 09:38 PM) engineered glass for the iPhone. Do we still need screen protectors and casing for this hardened glass? extra protection is always good~ |

QUOTE(kae_ae @ Jun 10 2010, 10:47 PM) Wthecks a eng glass? Even tempered glass can scratch. Sapphire glass like luxury watch is anti scratch lah but gila mahal if as big as h.p. my guess is "engineered glass" = marketing term about aluminosilicate: QUOTE Aluminosilicate minerals are minerals composed of aluminium, silicon, and oxygen. They are a major component of kaolin and other clay minerals. supposedly apple used a type of glass with more strength n hardness compared to normal glass. just wait and see, there's always those people who buy the latest apple gadgets juz so they can destroy it on youtube This post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Jun 10 2010, 11:12 PM |

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Jun 10 2010, 11:11 PM) LOL. something is wrong with apple's marketing department lately... helicopter glass la, retina display over the limit of the human eye la... aiyo.anyway, resistance to scratches and cracks are two very different things. sapphire is good against scratches, but not so good against cracking. plastic scratches easily but doesnt easily shatter because of its ductility. glass is somewhere in between. QUOTE(epool86 @ Jun 10 2010, 11:12 PM) Wohoo, just because I said iphone 4 not good yesterday, my post has been deleted lol. Orait2, I got the rule. Everyone MUST say iphone very good here. there are a lot of posts in here saying iphone 4 is not good. we understand there's no one phone to please every living person on the planet. just no bashing, that's all.Enough with iphone freaks. I'm joining android team, see ya.. haha Sent from my Google Nexus One ;-) it's good that you're happy with android. it's a really solid OS right now. i respect your choice, but not your attitude. |

QUOTE(lok3i @ Jun 11 2010, 12:33 AM) iPhone 4 and Samsung Wave have same CPU thanks for sharing! yes both A4 and Hummingbird is very similar. not sure if they are the exact same chip, but very similar indeed. the hummingbird is also coupled with the same powerVR GPUTwins Apple's iPhone 4 has the same CPU as the recently released Samsung Wave S8500. Young Choi, senior manager of the Technical Intelligence Group claims in a statement that the Apple A4 chip used in both the iPad and iPhone 4 is manufactured by Samsung. Samsung has a longstanding "foundry" relationship with Apple. Choi said that by looking at the Samsung S5PC110A01 application processor and comparing it to the A4 application processor found in the Apple iPad he could confirm that not only is Samsung the manufacturer of both application processors. He also identified that both application processors feature the same 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 core manufactured using a 45-nanometer low-power fabrication process. This means that Samsung is pushing its chip design across a range of products, it also means that the Apple A4 chip is not as unique as the tame Apple press claimed. It also means that the new Android OS-enabled Samsung Galaxy S smartphone will also use the same processor. Not only does this push Samsung forward as an important player in the smartphone chip market, it means that some this gear will have the same crucial bits as Apple's. The data also suggests that the graphics chip engine the iPad and iPhone 4 use is the PowerVR SGX 3D graphics core from Imagination Technologies. http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/19125/1/ |

QUOTE(sogoatticus @ Jun 11 2010, 02:26 PM) ok thx. unlocking not major concern for me. just the warranty because i've seen some selling 3gs overseas set claiming warranty by apple. so i assume theres no international warranty for iphone?phone sold by local telco maxis and digi only applies local warranty right? just curious, why is unlocking not a major concern for you? |

i agree that it's quite funny to see them so amazed by videocall Added on June 12, 2010, 11:12 am QUOTE(nimrod323 @ Jun 12 2010, 09:42 AM) i think this will make the pictures a bit pixelated so its best to make sure your pics are bigger than the resolution, for it to look richer stretching a 480x320 pic to 960x640 on the same 3.5" screen should look exactly the same as how the pic would look like on previous iphones i guessThis post has been edited by dvlzplayground: Jun 12 2010, 11:12 AM |

QUOTE(eeeee7 @ Jun 16 2010, 12:44 AM) i dun really understand ur question. anyway multitasking wont be available for iphone 3g at all. you will get the iOS 4.0 firmware, but some features will be missing. so far we dun have much details on what is missing, but multitasking is one for sure.so if u want to multitask, either jailbreak n get backgrounder, or upgrade ur phone |
