That's my first try anyways, and I forgot my friend played with my cam and I shot at f/2.8 dry.gif.

Anyways, best time to shoot is when it is about to rise. The moon would be closest to earth to get the biggest possible.

Lol.... then I go see now nice to shoot or not sin.... tongue.gif

It's useless to keep comparing your camera with the latest/with the others, because new models keep coming out and price keep dropping. You can't keep following the trend or the latest model.

Just use this quote:
the best camera is the one you have now. Shoot more with your d3k and the next time you upgrade should be lenses like 55-200, prime lenses, fast lenses etc. and your future camera will be D400S/D700S/D3S ^^

Absolutely agreed.... that's wat I'm doing, zoomie den wide angle.... after work den FF!! wuuhuu... icon_idea.gif

I found this a bit funny or incorrect? I see the comparison btw D5000 and other more expensive semi-Pro level cam by other brands, D5k performs better in all sense? WHY?

Wat u mean way too far to compare with? u mean Sony too good or too bad? I'm comparing EOS 7D - Sony A550 - Nikon D90 / D5000

Shooting the moon takes lots of tries and practice. You have to mess with the Shutter and Aperture in M mode smile.gif

Here's mine during last month smile.gif

user posted image

Aperture: f/7.1
Shutter: 1/250
Focal Length: 200mm I only have 55-200, so that's the max that I could zoom smile.gif
ISO: 200 and Handheld tongue.gif

Cheers
*
wooow woow.... I love your moon shot, I thought 55-200 cant do this man.... U cropped it out right? At wat time u shot this?

hahahaha as I said, shooting the moon takes loads of patience hahahaha I took this during the Earth Hour last month. Got nothing to do, so I spent the whole hour outside my home shooting the moon and messing with all the settings to get it right. It was a good investment smile.gif  And yeah... I cropped it smile.gif

For those who are short of cash and can only afford a D3000, I took this pic using my D3000. It's a decent camera la, just that it's not as good as its other older brothers only smile.gif
Cheers

Haha... okok, I will try it later evening, the moon is full these few days, ytd wanna shoot den no battery.... arghh

hey guys!

got some questions... just now wanna buy Nissin Di622, then went for a try, but when my d5000 switch to M, S, A, P and other mode, master flash fired but Nissin Flash (slave mode) nissin not fire at all? is it normal or its just setting issue? any1 encounter the same?

Try take near shot just to make sure the nissin detect the flash and fired it - but it didnt fired.
Try change battery in many brands for nissin (scare re-charging time slow) still same - not fired.

Only Potrait, AUTO and Night mode on the dial command is selected, only this modes master flash is fired, only nissin will fired the flash. isit normal?

Setting issue on M, A, S, P mode? why nissin just cannot fired when master flash was fired ? Or my camera body issue? Lens?

In the end, not dare to buy 1st ... help icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

This only applicable to Slave Flash Mode ... the rest TTL is all fine!
*
Do you mean the optical trigger? Mine working fine with P,S,A,M mood all.... I'm using M mode most of the time.... U try to make sure the sensor(the Red Window) in front of the nissin is not block by something. Try facing it directly towards ur flash. Or mayb ur Nissin model is old batch (not having the Nissin word on the stand) so not sensitive?? lol.....

Juz my 2 cent

My nissin also can't fire manually when my pop up flash is not TTL on my D40. But in D90 when flash in commander mode, manual still can fire.
*
Sad la.... cant use manual for optical trigger, anyway still can use flash compensation to control the power at least.... I tried -3 compensation is around 1/16 power of manual, juz cant achieve the lowest 1/32 power using compensation hmm.gif

sry guys, may i know wat does it means?
>>>[The D3000 does not support wireless flash control with its built-in flash; you have to use another flash as the commander.]
*
D3000 and D5000 does not hav the build in flash commander function, means ur build in flash cannot Trigger other flash wireless which is not mounted on the hot shoe(mounted on the flash stand away from camera body)! However if U wan to do this, u can use SB800 or SB900 which has the commander function(mount them on your camera body and trigger other flash wireless), or change ur camera body =)
Hope I made this right.... blush.gif

errr... sry for noob question here, wat is commander mode?

Added on April 30, 2010, 11:03 am

which means that other flash from camera will not function when shoot using multiple flash?
is Nissin Di866 support?
*
Info courtesy of General_Nic

Di622 with latest firmware can be radio triggered, using radio waves from body built-in commander(D90 n above), or SB900 or SU800. Di866 should b able to do both since the younger brother Di622 can do it!!

specs list:
Di622 - optical n radio trigger
SB600 - radio trigger only
SB900 - optical n radio trigger

(optical trigger means triggered by pop up flash, when the pop up flash fires, the other flash <ie. Di622 and SB900> sensor detects it and instantly fires together as well) this happens instantly. So u will juz see both flash firing together brows.gif

D90's built in commander uses optical to trigger flash too. The radio wave is only for TTL data.
*
Oh is it....?? hahaa... pai seh... I don hav D90, I tot can trigger the flash wireless without the body's flash even firing? I mean not using optical la....

D3 shud have, cos CLS is a special feature of Nikon
Canon similar feature only their top of the line 1D/1Ds have it, now 7D has it
its jz not logic for flagship model to not have
jz my theory, sory if im mistaken  tongue.gif

about pop up flash trigger, im not sure
jz heard frm other ppl say in order to eliminate the pop up flash harsh light during close up shot
they block it with a card
*
For D5k. I hav tried to use a cardboard to block the flash, in the end the Nissin cant detect my flash, so it will juz keep quite there.... sweat.gif Using a normal white paper, thin enuf for the light penetrate, den it will fire........ Sad.... so I'm going to get a phottix flash triggering set.

just now i test it..if turn off the pop up flash..cant remote it..even i just turn the pop up flash abit lower, the pop up flash dint even fire,so cant remote sb900..
*
So it means even with D90 body, you cant trigger the flash without your body's flash firing?? Wuuhuu.... den I less regret on 1 thing buying my D5000 early right b4 D90 price drop. I tot D90 can fire with just 1 flash at the back of the subject creating a diff approach, which makes me wanna buy a wireless flash triggering kit

Anybody has any experience on polarizer filter? I've just bought a Hoya CIR-Polarizing filter. I wondering should I get the 2X more expensive Hoya Pro 1D polarizer instead of this? Any difference btw the normal one and the Pro 1D?? I know they r meant to increase saturation and reduce reflection on non metallic surface such as water n glass....

*
There is other option by Octopus, which I think looks quite ok too, u can go check out, the price is cheaper at 150 and include shutter trigger with half press autofocus function as well. I'm going to get one for myself, currently no time to go get it yet....

Anybody used this set can give feedback btw Octopus and Phottix wireless triggering system

haha that's why...all this while i thought it's just around ~300 like that... turned out almost same price as sb600 itself tongue.gif
hmm...why flash trigger got shutter trigger and autofocus function eh? sorry for the noob question..in my mind is just "press shutter on camera -> flash trigger send signal to SB600 -> SB600 flash" tongue.gif no meh? haha. nvr play with one before
*
That's a all in one function wireless trigger set. It can act as wireless flash trigger + remote shutter trigger (like the ML-L3 + autofocus function) I'm not very sure bout the half press autofocus function, but I heard it works on D5000. Hope this helps...
