why would u wanna get a cheap 70-300 D version without VR ? U love tripod? U dont just invest to a more expensive body to buy cheap lens. The motor is not really an issue anymore nowdays, because all the new lens are AF-s cept for some old lens in good conditions if u can get lucky to get it in secondhand.
Best thing about d90 to me is the high ISO performance of the semi pro d300. screen is not that important too, best way to view your pics is in the big computer screen of course.

Melaka is not that far lar, most of us got car mah, not like asking u go take express bus and go.

they are very close in competition , both are good investment

maybe u can try the cheap 35mm 1.8, it give u very nice pics .
u must ask yourself, why u need the 50 mm

best price is like rm 190

so 1.8 is good enough liao.
most important is, u go try all 3 lens

sigma 50mm
nikon 50 mm G version
nikon 35mm 1.8

go test at shop kaw kaw
and pick one that u comfortable with

anyone of em are really good
i use to own a 85 mm 1.8 D( very nice for portrait )
but i cannot do anything else except portrait because i have to move to far away
sold it and got myself a 50mm 1.4 D instead

u can see as much as u want, the problem is can they sell it a not
d5000/3000 price mostly affect by the d90 price
alot of secondhand d90 seller back away or fail to sell their item.

if u dont mind secondhand, u could consider buying d80 + 50mm 1.8 and 18-55 VR kit len
for the budget of rm2500
there is alot of nice used d80 out there
trust d80 is more of a long run for u in DSLR
i sold mine for rm1850 (body only)
just do it slowly, need any advice, pm me

dont think about the gears lar, most important thing is that u able to produce nice pics.
If u go read magazine, some of the pictures were taken by no experience amateur also look very nice
best thing is they use normal lens only.
Alot of them with the long lens are very good only in posing with their long lens.
