d5000 cmos sensor noise control is quite good if i m not mistaken
so 1.8 is good enough liao.
most important is, u go try all 3 lens

sigma 50mm
nikon 50 mm G version
nikon 35mm 1.8

go test at shop kaw kaw
and pick one that u comfortable with

anyone of em are really good
i use to own a 85 mm 1.8 D( very nice for portrait )
but i cannot do anything else except portrait because i have to move to far away sweat.gif
sold it and got myself a 50mm 1.4 D instead

depends on which u prefer, mini or muscular laugh.gif
i prefer Sigma bcos of the body build, n off cos the big fat size tongue.gif
but another important factor is 2 yrs warranty by Sigma thumbup.gif

where got so cheap??
Nikon 50 1.4G price has been stuck at rm1800+ for quite a long time AFAIK
Sigmalux price always hover between 2k n 2.3k
