QUOTE(smileguy @ Apr 8 2010, 06:12 AM) World Cup is the only thing Astro can rely on to get new Byond subscribers now..Coz they offer all 64 matches LiVE in HD Thats the only attraction for the time being.. If not, people wont want to pay RM20 for the 5 channels or the HD services.. If Astro dont offer more HD channels (5 is the maximum left for this year they say) then I dont know what will interest people to get Byond N the 5 coming coming HD channels arent guaranteed will be available to all subscribers I only have 4 coz not taking movie package Astro will probably promote new channels after World Cup.. Or maybe promote all 380 EPL matches LIVE in HD from august.. They really should open up a HD package if they're clever.. But they're not.. BTW, can anyone here tell me the maximum number of channels that Astro can deliver at any one time using their satellites? Coz Astro On Demand (AOD)takes up a lot How many channles maximum Astro can broadcast with AOD and without AOD? AOD for me is useless coz take up so many channels Dont know how many people actually demand them.. Oooo..this thread is still sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sleeppppppyyyyyyyy... Because no problems and no controversies.. This post has been edited by dxjb: Apr 8 2010, 06:46 AM |

Astro On Demand AOD has 25 channels!!!
Astro Box Office has 8 I think.. So how many more channels can Astro actually have with their available satellites and transponders wit and without the AOD and ABO channels? |

QUOTE(ITrocks @ Apr 8 2010, 09:27 PM) Just got byond today, hate that I can't control the volume with the remote control from Astro, and I have to put the TV audio level really high. Also, when viewing Standard Definition channels, the volume's really soft but in HD channels, it's really loud. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Read the manual u got with ur Byond bro..There are other functions u can do with the Byond remote.. Like turning off the TV with the Byond remote Read the manual or look at previous versions of this threads This post has been edited by dxjb: Apr 9 2010, 03:07 AM |

QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 10 2010, 11:04 PM) holy .... you mean we have to treat the HD decoder like a notebook and buy a Cooler Master underneath it ?? Bro..obviously there are certain things u seem not to be informed of..Even then, if I'm not wrong, those notebook cooler is not flat, so how to ..... This is REALLY getting VERY troublesome now U have not read previous threads is it? Ok..there are 2 USB ports on the box.. U can use the laptop cooler if u want to reduce heat.. If u dont use the cooler, ur Byond box will still be fine About ur remote control issue, u can use Byond remote to control volume and even turn on/off TV power.. U just need to synchronize the Byond remote with ur TV.. The instructions for it is in the Byond manual when u get it |

QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 10 2010, 11:35 PM) So you mean the Beyond remote control can "learn" from the TV remote control so we just need to use 1 remote ? It doesnt control everything..it just controls the volume, power of decoder and Tv and also connection output channel..If like that not so bad la, at least still got 1 hand for the beer Like u wanna switch from HDMI mode to AV or others.. There are 2 USB ports..1 at the back aNd 1 at the front Byond remote will have recording, play, rewind, fastforward function in the future.. U can read the manual once the Byond arrive or u can look at previous versions of this thread.. |

QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 11 2010, 01:22 AM) Er, there are 126 pages in V.3 I'm guessing u wanna use the Tv remote out of laziness to find the page on how to sychronise TV and Byond remote is it?Sorry but I just couldn't understand what do you mean by you are probably the only 1 use that and "they" took it away? Who are "they"? Astro? But why? Look at this page given.. http://stinkyfruit.wordpress.com/2010/03/0...-more-tv-codes/ It's from TallJustins' blog.. Yes he works as an Astro tech guy and regularly helps out here and updates us on latest news regarding tech stuff related to Astro So when he refers to we, it means Astro k.. Bout the zoom mode, people were angry coz Astro took out the stretch mode It left them with the zoom and pillar box mode They wanted stretch mode back as another option but didnt mind if Astro wanted to keep the zoom mode as well as the pillar box mode As it turns out however, TallJustin has noted that Byond box can only offer 2 options Thats y Astro decided to give back the stretch mode along with pillar box People didnt want to use the pillar box as it could have caused screen burn N also the fact some just wanted their widescreen plasma and LCD to be filled up Dont go blasting these pople coz everyone has their own viewing preferances U'll be public enemy number 1 here if u knock people for watching distorted image in stretch mode Its up to them whether they want correct aspect ratio or distorted image or fat people n stuff..up to them..me included +...the problem with the zoom mode was it cut off the top and bottom part of the picture Means if u were watching the news, the top of the womans forehead is gone Watching a movie bottom line of the subtitle is gone Watching a football match, the scoreboard at the top or bottom of the screen gone.. That was the reason people hated the zoom mode even though the picture quality was better Okey..hope i have summarised the whole V3.0 thread for u klseet Now u can do some reading regarding the Byond remote or just wait for ur Byond to arrive and see what u got This post has been edited by dxjb: Apr 11 2010, 04:53 AM |

QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 11 2010, 11:13 AM) Many thanks for the explanation dxib! Bro..another thing probably u got wrong or I'm the one who doesnt understand uActually I'm using "Cinama1" mode on my current Redza LCD output from the current Astro decoder. It's able to fit full screen into 16:9 nicely, only small portion of sub-title and top section gone, but I don't really see a lot being chop, at least not to the extend that hair/head disappear. So that's why I'm really hoping the new HD decoder can do that, or oblige to to that judging on the facts that : 1. we are paying for the new HD service which suppose to have proper HD display for all channels. The HD channels are in correct HD ratio.. The zoom/stretch debate only affected SD channels.. HD channel are still in HD ratio..no worries there mate.. Another thing is if u havent heard any response from Astro regarding ur application, its better to call and apply.. Online application takes a while and sometimes wont event have any effect.. Call straight to Astro n within 24 hours u should get a reply.. Installation will proceed in the next2-5days period This post has been edited by dxjb: Apr 11 2010, 12:16 PM |

Wooooooohhhhoooooooo..
This thread is getting interesting again.. I was just going to complain about how this thread was becoming soooooo sleeeepppyy No more controversies regarding Byond No more problem Yipppeeee some people have found a new topic to debate Added on April 13, 2010, 1:10 pmTo fuad.. I respect u for all ur opinions because u back it up with good reasoning and facts.. Thats the main thing Sometimes we can talk so much but its mere talk rather than facts.. U seem to be a sifu here.. Can i ask u a question? Its regarding channels on Astro.. What international channels do u realistically see that will end up on Astro? Some people here say that Astro want to provide in house content and only channels that listen to them? Is that true? What is the meaning of Astro want channles to listen to them? Thanks This post has been edited by dxjb: Apr 13 2010, 01:10 PM |

QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 13 2010, 11:48 PM) Just wonder, is B'yond using the exact same type of cable as compare to current decoder? I tried asking TallJustin the Astro tech guy bout thisWah, if really need to change the cable, then messy again, from roof to hall ...... He said, signal lost depends on a number of factors and not just the cable He said no need to worry about changing cables because Byond works perfectly fine with old cable If u have serious and continuous problems yes probably could call up Astro and ask for assistance Added on April 14, 2010, 3:42 amQash-M, Is it true ur signal problem occurs during afternoons only? Well my grandparents Astro had a similar problem After 7pm right until the next morning around 7am, some channels would not be available and some will have bad signal Like channel 103,501,502 would have signal problems..119 would go blank all together.. I called Astro for assistance and the tech guy came.. What happened was that the dish had slightly changed direction.. Means moved a bit.. So the installer came and fixed it without taking any service charge..coz he said it wasnt a matter of changing stuff So maybe ur facing the same problem Dont go changing cables coz it wont guarantee ur problem will be solved This post has been edited by dxjb: Apr 14 2010, 03:43 AM |

QUOTE(klseet @ Apr 14 2010, 03:05 PM) But the Astro dealer is advising me to change it since the current one "quality might not be as good due to aging", furthermore is FREE 20m now ..... Yes..I know its free and probably the quality might be better but most of us have experienced Byond and HD with old cableThat's why I'm actually worrying now and been trying to see where & how the cable can come into hall "nicely".... imagine the cable run across the hall No problems if u prefer to hack ur walls and ceiling to replace ur old cables with new ones But rest assured most of us have lived perfectly fine watching HD with the old cable I would probably suggest to u to change the cables if u are very worried about quality U should probably ask TallJustin about the tech stuffs such as cables and signal quality since he is an Astro tech guy He would definitely have the better advice for u than the Astro dealer ur in contact with |

QUOTE(JOR23N @ Apr 14 2010, 11:31 PM) Hye there SingaporeanI'm from JB Yesterday I was half awake when the 9.30pm News on Channel 5 was on I was sooooo sleepy but if I'm not mistaken i heard a news piece about Singapore will carry out testing on 3D Television broadcast nationwide Am I right it's 3D television ur testing? I heard the testing would take place between 6 months to a year.. Coz I heard that there are probably just 2 broadcasters in the world that carry 3D programming..something like that If what I heard is true than u lot are very lucky Ur country want to test something that is not easily available and not yet established in the world But ur country are willing to take risk and test it out in nationwide Here in Malaysia, IPTV, something that is widely recognised and established around the world is only available in certain areas N that also is only available to areas with high GDP Anyone can find any news on the Singapore 3D development, ur welcomed to provide info Coz Im sure I was at least half awake and wasnt dreaming BUT 64 WORLD CUP MATCHES LIVE IN HD - PROUD TO BE MALAYSIAN..hehehe coz Singapore not sure get to see World Cup or not This post has been edited by dxjb: Apr 15 2010, 03:55 AM |

QUOTE(chuppachop @ Apr 15 2010, 10:48 AM) Yes, it's thrilling to see world cup in HD! Thanks for the info..You can get the 3D info here…..not particularly excited….typical MDA attitude - just wants to be 'first in the world' and leave everything else half baked…..SD here is still not in 16:9…..HD5 was launched 2 years ago but less than 8 hrs of primetime programs are in HD….no further follow-up on Digital Terrestrial also. Very interesting pages u gave there So its certainly not only just an Astro issue when some HD channels are repeating programmes Singapore has the HD5 channel for 2 years but only 8 hours of primetime programmes is bad I would rather have repeated programmes than paying for nothing at all So Malaysia and Singapore seem to have broadcasters and government that have the same mindset BE THE FIRST IN THE WORLD - But leave everything else have baked..or just be the 1st in the world just for the name and fame sake This post has been edited by dxjb: Apr 15 2010, 10:57 AM |

Can I ask..Astro have Star World and Star Movie right?
Arent they under FOX? If so, why so hard to get other productions of FOX International to launch here? This post has been edited by dxjb: Apr 15 2010, 12:09 PM |
