*
Its not possible, which is why I got myself the fine Beacon which is for 18". Can fit everything I need. But its damn heavy. haha. Feels like going camping whenever I bring it out. tongue.gif

W00t! Yeah, finally moved the thread. Thanks a bunch to the mod involved! thumbup.gif

2-3 years of laptop life span is alright I guess. Within that span of time you'd have enough for a new one. Its always good to take good care of your things to appreciate its value. smile.gif
All the more reason if you have intentions of selling it off, let it be in good condition! icon_rolleyes.gif

High pitch hissing sound? Do you have any idea what part of the lappy might cause that sound? Is it your CD drive? tongue.gif

Yeah! Congrats to those how've just gotten their Vostro 3700! I can't seem to upload any thumbnail pictures for the thread at the moment due to the upload issue in LYN. As for the FreeFall Data Protection, you can locate it under your 'All Control Panel Items' But it only allows you to either enable or disable it. tongue.gif

Well nope, unless I stick in a CD in the DVD Drive. You say the source comes from the right part of your laptop right?

Yup! Definitely get headphones/external speaker for your laptop for better sound experience. The Vostro 3700 speaker isn't really that good for me. Planning to get one of those external sound cards for a better sound source! For now just using my comfy headphones, the bass setting is kinda funny for Vostro too. tongue.gif

hi guys,
in power option , the is this thing called dell battery meter where you can disable battery charging...kinda cool

but it would be better if we can automate this, create a start uo script or somethin/ shortcut to launch...

anybody know how?
*
Wow! Great tip to extend battery usage, especially when you plug it in a lot, so you wouldn't have to take it off each time you're plugging it.
Thanks a lot for the info man! thumbup.gif
I too dunno simple scripting. *tehee* it would be really great though.

Right Click Computer > Manage > Disk Management > Right Click C: > Shrink Volume....

Can also use the Sofware (EASUS) that kucing mentioned nod.gif

Yup, the method given is the proper way to do it. thumbup.gif
Partitioning isn't so hard, just google for a guide and follow the steps thoroughly and you'll do fine.
Which is how I found out how to partition/combine a hard drive. smile.gif

Ok guys, i got this error after updating the video card driver. But yesterday i formatted it, and after used it for hours the colourful dots returns again. Any idea and anyone got the same problem?
*
Woah, thats quite bad. Since you've reformatted/reinstalled the concerning drivers I suggest you contact the Dell Customer support. I updated my Video card a few weeks back and thankfully it didn't end up like this. :|

Argh, and only NOW they make the backlit keyboard option available! :'(

For those who worry about the screen resolution: I think it exceeds my expectations, watching movies is great with it, especially in HD quality.

Gaming wise its sufficient for its price. Want better, cough up cash for something suited for gaming. I've gamed for about two hours or so at max and the heat was bearable. Past experiences I've had cases where overheating would reboot the laptop. So far I've faced none. ^^

I've come to accept the speakers as well because I tweaked the bass where the default was set on no bass. I haven't been using a laptop for awhile so I was always used to desktop speakers with sub-woofers, but compared to other laptops with high volume its quite outstanding.

Its been about a month or so and I'm still hyped about my laptop.

About mobility, I don't mind its size because with the performance its packed with is worth bringing around when needed.

Color wise, from what I saw in earlier videos of Dell Vostro 3700, bronze is quite sleek. It looks simple, professional yet stylish, but I'm loving my red Dell Vostro 3700. rclxm9.gif

Really glad to see a number of satisfied Vostro 3700 users! Welcome to the club! icon_rolleyes.gif

Have you guys tried out the voice command option? I think its really cool. I recommend trying it out if you've got extra time! Boss your computer around by talking to it. Hehehe.

The bluetooth issue was a bit tricky for me too. Well, you have to be really patient and persistent with identifying your bluetooth with the device you intend on pairing with. Turn on the bluetooth for your Vostro first then search for available bluetooth devices and activate the intended bluetooth device. Its quite tricky because sometimes it doesn't detect smoothly, you'll have to make sure the settings of your bluetooth for the Vostro is accessible, retry till you get.

So here's the steps I did:

1.Went to control panel (made the list into detailed list instead of the simple and general version so I could pick it out)

2.I made sure the setting for my Vostro bluetooth was visible and pairable.

3.Activated the Vostro bluetooth.

4.Search for active bluetooth devices.

5.Turn on the intended bluetooth device.

6.Select the device when detected in your Vostro system.

7.Save it.

Hope this helps.

Heads up, for those who wanna use wireless gaming bluetooth mice, you'll most probably will have to buy a seperate bluetooth dongle. Which is what I had to do for my Orochi, thankfully I got it for ten bucks. thumbup.gif

Might be a driver issue, have you tried reloading the graphic card driver? How'd it happen anyways?

these guys are getting me frustrated. i paid on thursday and the most ive gotten so far is an arrow pointing on the first box saying "order received".

i requested for call back which they did and bla bla said they will call again from sales team...noone called.

those who ordered online. what exactly are the procedures that you've gone through until it arrived at your doorstep?
*
Patience and persistence. I just patiently waited while bugging them with e-mails/phone calls and silly questions. As customers we have the right to be subtle in pestering them about our order process . Took them about ten to 14 days to arrive at my door steps, where I was expecting around 20-30 days delivery time. thumbup.gif

I noticed that the product process tracking thingy isn't really efficient. Mines was still on second/third phase when I received my laptop. And I doubt changing the color to red would affect your order process. Mine is red too, yet I received it within two weeks after ordering. thumbup.gif

Hope this'll clear some of your anxiousness. tongue.gif

Hey, I noticed the speaker of the vostro 3700 is abit too soft at times, any idea to pump it a little bit louder? Is there any settings or firmware to fix this or its the limitation of the hardware itself?
*
Have you tried adjusting the bass function boost? I first found it soft until I adjusted that and now the volume is quite acceptable now. thumbup.gif

Wow, a cooler fan thats affordable and matches the sizing! Awesome, gotta look for one soon.

Gonna start gaming SC2 with it since I barely game with my lovely Vostro. tongue.gif

@cckthechun

A dead pixel huh? Damn, you should try consulting Dell customer service. Again, how do you check for it? tongue.gif

How can a screen get a dead pixel? Well I hope yours isn't that horrible..

Has anyone in this thread gotten their Vostro 3700 with back lit keyboards yet? I couldn't find the options on the dell website, even with the i7 customizing.
