ok, there goes my hope, it is in the X10 price range...

check out singtel website, and some other link in the internet, the RRP without contract is indeed SGD1098, that SGD200 more expensive than hTC desire, means around RM480 more, which malaysia RRP could hit 2699 or 2799... shocking.gif

not only does this phone look like iphone, it's also price like iphone... doh.gif

got this from website

"Message Received from handtec ~ Thursday 27th May 2010
Thanks for your email,

We have had this query once already today so it seems to be cause of great debate as you have mentioned, we have been doing our research to ensure you receive the correct information, and in response to this i can confirm the Samsung I9000 does have an LED Flash, however in regards to the video light we cannot confirm this until the device has been released and tested.

I am very sorry i could not answer your question at this current time however as soon as we have the item we will be more than happy to test this out for you, in the meantime the only information we have managed to obtain from our sources is shown on the attached file.

The above information is pretty much the only info we have on this, and very little concrete evidence of the Video LED is available, once we receive stock we will of course validate this and ensure the site is updated accordingly.

Please advise if we can assist you further?

Kind regards.

nope ,the iphone ish screen is just the app part, the homescreen is different.

I've been tracking this thread for a while.. seems that gsmarena gives it a good rating,.

no doubt it's a good phone due to the high-end spec...

but the UI and design is really iphone-ish...
- the top "circles" to indicate which homescreen you are in, yes stock android and Sense UI has it, but at least they are doing it differently...
- the four permanent shortcuts at the bottom...
- scroll from left to right, the 1st homescreen of the TouchWiz is furthest left, instead of center...
- again the top "circles" + 4-icons in the bottom + scroll from left to right in the all programs launcher = iphone "homescreen"...
- the phone design looks like iphone from far...

if it werent for the widgets.....

one thing i dont understand bout the UI, is the redundant home icon on the UI...in a video i watched, i saw a home icon on the bottom right when the reviewer is in all programs, why set a home icon there while can just hit the home button?

but i'm as disappointed with the price as much as with the design...i'm not sure bout the price in malaysia yet, but for SGD1098, the price is kinda steep and the stuff tv preview said the built quality is a bit plasticky...

i'll wait for more reviews before deciding to either get this or hTC desire (without being tied to maxis)

Consider this phone is better than HTC Desire, I bet the price will surely be more expensive.

Personally, this UI is better than Sense. At least the there is few page of apps, which is easier to browse instead of sense which you have to scroll down the whole list.

Might be better and might be not..

Above link is comparison between Galaxy S and HTC Desire..
Yes, the screen, bluetooth 3.0, 720p video recording, and better battery durability(100mAh more)
But, for RAM, Galaxy is lose to Desire 512MB vs 576MB.. And maybe smoothness for UI?
Who knows? Galaxy S still not officially released here and nobody can actually review it which i mean in Malaysia.. nod.gif

I think so..
But, how many users for smartphone really using their secondary camera?
Not that much because of our "fast" 3G connection here, in Malaysia... hmm.gif

hihihehe, you had bad experience with samsung before?

i used one samsung mobile before, and it was the 1st mobile device that i had to sent back due to a board problem (sometimes cant on the phone even if the phone is fully charged and will automatically switch off while using it)....other than that no major problem...

but like many, i also worried bout the software updates...look at the behold II, will only get updated to 1.6 and this is far from convincing...

nexus one is a good choice as it has FroYo, which seems like a major boost to android...but like on the desire, the pink hue is quite noticeable, especially when i saw a video in android central which compares the new features of gmail in FroYo...i can notice the pink hue, especially when it's put beside motorola droid...it may not be noticeable in some area, video playback thus it may not be as serious, but i scared that i might get annoyed in the long run...

the good thing about samsung that u cant deny is their warranty support.. i used Omnia and ultra touch before and their service is damn quick..

regarding the 2ndary camera, maybe if it kinda useless if it can be used only for 3g video call.. but it would be great if it can act as webcam.. and u can used video call in skype / other messenger.. biggrin.gif

and another thing, 512mb ram in N1 vs 576mb ram in Desire doesnt bring any noticeable difference.. my rooted N1 with desire rom and SENSE ui never hang, while my Desire has amazingly hanged 3 times.

There are users who use the vid call (including me )

I'd say for the desire its a loss rather, to not have the secondary camera.

And plus, I am using a samsung omnia, sent the phone for a screen change under warranty, and in less than an hour they were ready.

I dont know about you guys, if I had the money I'll go for this one. If you dont like the UI, just change it wink.gif its android anyways.

And considering its a samsung, HD recording, the 5mpx camera should be good, since my omnia is not bad either.

Don't be so quick to dismiss brands.
Hardly anyone commented on the vid review I posted, really, go check it out. As smooth as a baby's botttom.
