QUOTE We may still not have an official price for the Nintendo 3DS, but it looks like you can now at least count on yet another unique gaming experience not found on other handheld systems. Konami recently announced that its "Project Loveplus" dating simulator for the system will not only take advantage of the system's 3D capabilities, but that it will also include a so-called "boyfriend lock" that uses facial recognition to prevent any virtual cheating. Apparently, if someone else picks up your 3DS and tries to play the game, your virtual girlfriend will act confused and respond with phrases like "who are you?" -- which, incidentally, is a question you might also want to ask yourself before looking for ways to import the game from Japan (yeah, don't count on this one being released over here). i dun get wat the last sentences mean... as long as u the 1 who get the gal in the 1st 100 days,it should recognize u as boyfren... so there wont b any problem even u play it not in japan,am i wrong? project loveplus is the most reason y i wan 3ds for now... only question running in my mind would b is there region specific game for 3ds especially project loveplus...

I interpret that sentence as asking are you Japanese or not (or will you have a Japanese 3DS or not), cos it is highly likely the 3DS will have region locking. If you really want to play LovePlus so much, consider getting a Japanese 3DS... or wait until someone hacks a region unlocking solution

QUOTE(toadhall @ Dec 28 2010, 11:52 AM) That's actually pretty cool! I hope those sort of features trickle into other 3DS games - ones where I wouldn't be too embarrassed to play. I mean being 30-year-old pokemon player on a crowded komuter train is pretty embarrassing already, but this... too much. Problem? *trollface.jpg* QUOTE(toadhall @ Dec 28 2010, 06:29 PM) I interpret that sentence as asking are you Japanese or not (or will you have a Japanese 3DS or not), cos it is highly likely the 3DS will have region locking. So it doesn't really matter.

I wasn't implying you had a wife and daughter. I was implying I have a wife and daughter. Real ones.
Dude. It's pretty obvious you have neither. And I say that with no insult or negativity intended.

I'm sure they will do it on downloadable contents but I hope it's not the same case with normal games.

Looks like bad news on that front as well actually. If the 3DS follows the pattern of DSi, then normal cartridge-based games will be region locked as well, just like Pokemon Black/White are region locked if played on DSis.
I personally don't import JP games (if only i understood the language) but the probable lack of ability to play EU games might be a problem for me since they tend to get games US doesn't seem to get (Inazuma Eleven, 999, Last Window). Also, some EU games are easier to find (therefore: cheaper) than their US counterpart, e.g. Dragon Quest V
