There's a big difference between modding your console (giving permissions to alter the system), and unintentionally infect the OS with rogue programs (entering system without user intervention.

And who would want to put viruses in their own console with SD cards?

Don't forget that wireless communications between DSes are encrypted. And even before any critical informations are exchanged there'll be some sort of "handshake" between the the DSes to determine the identity of the device as well as the software.

The reason piracy for DS exist because they found a way to completely bypass security check, however the security itself remains intact (not cracked). There's no easy way to do the same thing for wireless communications.

As for your personal infomation, it's Nintendo you're talking about. Of course that will be privacy measures, I just hope that it's not as troublesome as the FC system. :/

I know the 3DS is backwards-compatible with DS & DSi games, but does anyone know if it will support DS Download Play? It would be great if I can still use my Mario Kart DS cart with the wife on the old DSLite.... and eat her dust again. and again.

I made an announcement a few pages ago that I will be getting the 3DS on day 1 of the US launch in Malaysia. its just the final details of the pricing is what I need. I'm expecting hundreds of 3DSs will come by, and mine would be a fraction of it.
