PerfectLiving is happening in PISA, Penang now. Anyone been there and find any good deals for Panny models?

Just placed deposit for a V20K. The bad thing is i have to wait 10 days....sad.gif

FYI, i am from Penang. It is hard to get competitive price as compared to KL. I got the 50"V20K for RM5900 with 5 yrs warranty from a PanaShop. Anyone interested, can PM me.

your price is reasonable . congrats and enjoy this TV set

ya...if i am in KL, i think i can get RM5.5k + 280EWP, total RM5780. That will save me RM120, and .... i heard immediate stock... tongue.gif

Dear all Gurus, anything i need to check carefully when receiving the unit? So far in my list, i am going to check the operating hours, to make sure it is not a demo unit...anything else?

Added on September 6, 2010, 6:59 pmit is 2 yrs, and 3 yrs EWP (extended warranty program from Panny). Need to pay a small premium to top-up that extended warranty.

Not too bad, but is that with BD45? I bought mine in June for RM6300 with 5 years warranty and it came with BD45.

nope...it is only for the TV unit. nothing else...

Are you from Penang? It is hard to get very competitive prices here... sad.gif

"Vol -" is volume down. Most TV should have a volume up and down buttons on the TV itself.

Finally, after the long wait...i got my V20K....

Anyhow, can't really enjoy the PQ yet. I tone down the settings as per the recommendations collected in this thread. At first, when the installer switched on my TV, i immediately played the BD. I already see IR after the FBI warning. The installer told me that there is no issue to use the default settings. When they left, i immediately set them to lower settings.

I did the operating hours check as well....000000:23 (i guess is 23 mins)...and count 4 (i switched off and on 2 times before managed to reach the counter screen). It looks like too good to be true. or maybe they have codes to reset it..? tongue.gif

U're confused. If u r using the break in dvd, then crank up the contrast (say 80) and colour  (70). Leave brightness at default. Use normal mode. Make sure the colours fill the screen in full screen mode.

When u r not using the break in dvd, then use the settings that you mentioned, contrast -20, brightness -20, colour low...

After 200hrs u can move the contrast back to 50 in cinema mode and colour back to 47 or so. Of course u can change to ur liking or get it calibrated.

opps....ok ok...will do that ...

the heat is not a lot more than a large LCD. maybe 20-30% more compared similar LCD size. for the power consumption, well you're paying for the picture quality. if you don't mind spending a portion of your electricity bill for air-conditioning, the extra you're paying for plasma (compared to similar size LED) is well worth it.

kindda hard to convince the home minister to go for plasma just by demo-ing in the showroom as LED have a clear advantage in bright showroom conditions.

ya...what the seller said is true...for Plasma, the power consumption is more when there is a illumination, whereas for LCD/LED(edge), the backlight is always on, thus the power consumption is more or less the same thoughout the unit operation.

The main difference is the PQ. A lot of people choose plasma because of the PQ/Color. Averagely, i would believe 200W is the average consumption for 50V20k. When i checked my sis's 42PY800, which she bought 2 years ago, it rated 475W. Unless we watch movies/documentary that never take night/darks scenes, the 415W might be true.

BTW, if TNB charges RM0.30 for a unit (1kW/h), with 415W tag, it will cost us RM0.13/hr, that will be RM1/day for 8 hrs usage, if my maths are right.... blush.gif

I should point out that the V20 series differs from country to country. For e.g., the UK version V20 comes with Infinite Black Pro panel and THX-mode.

Even within Asia, the V20 series feature-set differs country to country. So it is not always apple-to-apple when comparing price. Take for e.g. my Hong Kong V20 plasma. The V20 in HK comes with 5-years full warranty as standard, a HD digital tuner built-in (to take advantage of OTA HD channels e.g. TVB HD) and also allows for USB hard disk recording of TV shows. Although I won't make much use of these features, I am paying for something I dont need. I just want a plasma as a display device.

Just sharing info.
