@ffrulz : Thanks!
One more thing, if I want to plug in USB-powered speakers instead of the monitor's built-in ones, how?

Very common question. It's posted in the PS3 FAQ Sticky Post #3.

Anyway, depending on your speakers input, you might or might not need an adapter.

1) Take the A/V Cable supplied with your PS3, use the Red and White for Audio. If your speaker accepts Red and White input then you're good to go, however if your speaker supports the 3.5mm Green Stereo Jack instead, then you'll need to get an adapter that'll convert the Red and White to Green 3.5mm Jack.

2) If your speakers support Optical IN, then you can use the PS3's Optical Output to get Audio as well.

EDIT: PS3 does not support USB Speakers. Only Mics AFAIK.

And also if you want your monitor to output sound, make sure it's HDMI to HDMI and not HDMI to DVI, DVI does not carry sound data only video data. So if your monitor has speakers, you'll need to follow Method 1 with the adapter.

Yes, my speakers are using the 3.5mm green stereo jack and powered by USB, is there any way to make use of the speakers instead?
So it's impossible to connect a HDMI cable from the PS3 to the monitor then(using the DVI-HDMI adapter)?
The only solution is to stick with the A/V cable?
Is it possible to plug in both HDMI cable(for display) and A/V cable(for sound) to the PS3?
Thanks for the help anyway! thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Yes you can use both cables to get video and audio.

You can use the HDMI to DVI cable to get Video. Then use Method 1 to get Audio to your speakers.

Since your speakers are getting audio data from the Green Jack instead of USB then it'll be fine, since it's only powered by USB not driven by USB as well. There are speakers which are solely powered and gets audio data from USB only. But in your case it's different.

It's out already. Samsung 3D TV. The price, however, is astronomically pricey.

I have this question in mind, getting a LCD purely for gaming + movie.
Should I go for 27" LCD monitor (FULLHD) or 32" LCD TV (HDReady)?
Will be seating 7ft away.

Samsung 27" Full HD

For PS3 gaming precisely. Around RM400 difference anyway.

Added on May 25, 2010, 9:35 amWas wondering is it important to get a FULL HD and sacrifice the screen size. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

State out your display settings on the PS3.

720P checked? Is 1080P checked as well? What about the 720i and 1080i resolutions? Are they checked?

If you want 720P only, just check that. The rest, 720i 1080i 1080P, turn it off and see what happens. 576P cannot be unchecked so that's unavoidable.

Hi, guys. So I've been using 32LG80FR-TA for a while now. I noticed that the highest refresh rate that it can achieve is 60hz when running on 1080p. But, after comparing it with the tv which is on display at Sony Centre, my tv is way inferior. Is it because of the refresh rate or the hdmi cable? I don't remember what brand do i use for my hdmi cable but im planning on getting these if i were to change my hdmi cable.

Need your feedback. Thanks.

First off, are the two TVs the same model?

Second, did you alter the settings (brightness, contrast, etc) of the tv?

Display models in stores are meant to attract buyers, as such the default factory settings on them are usually high with brightness and contrast. If it is indeed the same model and you havent tampered with the settings yet, it's not meant to be the same as yours shipped with the factory settings for home use.

I use the term factory setting loosely here, as we all know these TVs require calibration post setup.

I do not think this is caused by your cables. You cant go wrong with ones cheaper than that, it's your prerogative.
