my company do, as dress formality in suit, especially facing customer a lot. Hose is must, only black or skin color. I prefer support style as I am on my feet most of the time.
For me, cleaning daily is a must, hygienic reason as weather is hot and humid.

I'm glad I'm spared of all these dress codes and things... its all so uncomfortable. You should wash it daily, or get a few exchangeable pairs so you can wash them all at once after a few days, machine wash them perhaps? Toss them in the lingerine bag and you're done. smile.gif

@peppermilk,

It depends , dress code does have it's good and bad, I need not to worry too much what to wear in the morning, need not worry about repeated my wardrobe too often.

As for hosiery, even if company do not mandate uniform, I think I will wear hosiery still, especially those support type if I am on extended hour of standing or seating. For comfort and leg health.

maysee82: Yes, I agree that it has pros too. smile.gif Maybe due to my background, I'm not very used to restrictions as there's really none at my workplace, so basically, I wear anything I like to work (but with common sense lah). ^^

One of my friends... who doesn't like washing her pantyhoses too usually buy cheaper pantyhose, that way, if you treat them as disposables, it won't be too harsh for your pocket. smile.gif

peppermilk, it is not advisable to put hosiery in washing machine. Should be wash under cold water, and let drip to dry, instead of wringing them. This would keep it in shape.

As for cheap pantyhose, perhaps your friend could try one of the more expensive type....it's a lot of differences with comfort level, smoothness...or even breathability. Those cheaper one really stuffy, and cause you to sweat. What with wearing in our weather.

Just my 2 cents.

Use and throw is cool idea, may not be too environment friendly though. I usually managed to get good number of wear with proper care, from those better quality support hose. One thing I noticed those cheap cosmetic hose, they can be unpredictable as weather and runs often in most critical moment.. mad.gif .. for that reason, I usually stayed shy away from black hose, when there's run, it's so obvious. really hate that and usually only discovered immediately after one washroom visit, makes me had to do another to change it.

umm... nylons are really tough materials, if you're tearing them pantyhose often, you should upsize it. Or check where are they ripping (such as the toes or the heel or the crotch) and by pantyhose that have additional reinforced threading at those areas.

For the uninitiated, the "half" pantyhose aren't pantyhose, they're either knee highs or thigh highs. The quality of the hosiery are measured in denier (or weight) of the nylon, the higher the number, the more opaque the hosiery. However, regardless of how thick it is, the risk of a run is still the same because that depends on the stitching. A flat knit is gives a very lustrous shimmery look and feels soft and sensuous. Pebble mesh hosiery is cheaper to produce and is more resistant to runs, but looks crude and feels rough against the skin and other materials.

Usually support style hosiery I am wearing feels tight, but not undersized. The better quality one usually only started developing run/hole after many washes / wears. The cheapo can even have a run on the first wear.
Pebble mesh ? Any brand uses that knitting method ?

I usually just soak all of them in a gentle washing solution and hand wash. They dry pretty fast, so no need to put them through the machine.

@Kelly2bee,

Nice to find you here .. any luck with shops that sells better quality garter ? Care to share ? If you do not mind internet shopping, try google "secrets in lace". I saw their collections before, quite nice and comes with steel clips. But the price is a bit dear .. another one try google "stockingshq" , they also have garter collection (or called suspender by British), good collection of stockings designed to be worn with garter (without the tight elastic bands).

You also gave me an idea of garter belt and stockings , I am eying support style stocking (ELBEO), but may not be brave enough to wear one , my working skirt is a bit tight and the bump do show. Wearing it with pants is even more visible. I really salute your courage to wear to work. .. smile.gif

@Krayzie,
I am assuming you are a man, and yes, some of us wearing it do know that magic effect. Some girls hated it because of lack of knowledge on how to wear one nicely, or did not manage to indulge in a good pair of pantyhose.
If you want to see your gf wearing it, maybe can think of spoiling her with a pair of "wolford" as birthday gift. If she is completely clueless about how to wear one,
I did decent write up about it here. You can refer her this link,,

As for your company lady colleagues that broke all the hose, maybe can refer them the same link if they are close enough to you for clothing advice.

Now, if you are a man and also interested in wearing one, a few guys in the forum there has some helpful tips, also there some man style pantyhose being discussed, try google "comfilon".

Yes, whatever your interest is, forum always welcome you.. smile.gif Poking fun on ladies that do not wear hose or those not knowing how to wear one properly probably isn't that nice at all.

@Maysee82

Sad to say, I have not been very diligent in my shopping lately rclxms.gif So far I have only found 2 samples in La Senza. I'm going to try the online shops. One thing is , I wonder if the package will ever arrive on my doorstep. Have had not so pleasant experiences in buying lingerie from the net. Somehow, I've managed to 'donate' some of it to the Postal service vmad.gif
Don't worry too much about wearing belts/suspenders with work skirt. As long as you don't wear overly tight, short skirts, it'll be OK. Trick is to pull the stockings slightly higher (clip higher). I wear knee length skirts most of the time anyway..hehe

@lexiqa,

I am youngish late 20s . Ya, is company policy for me as I had to meet customer frequently , whenever I am wearing skirt .(Our company calls for suit skirt or pants), usually is skin tone or black pantyhose, I prefer skin tone whenever I am wearing skirt.

It is really not too bad, project a nice professional image too, and lessen the worry about what to wear each day because is just suit. I saw that you are involve in recruiting business and you know well how important it is to project professional image of yourself in a first few seconds of job interview.

Many ladies do not like wearing hose because of our climate condition, but if it becomes a job need, one just has to find ways around it, I was able to get over that..I usually prefer support type hosiery as I am on my feet a lot, walking and standing,

@maysee82, well it depends.. sometimes if your feet has some uneven hard skin, it may cause runs along the pantyhose/stockings too...

in the business world, women actually should wear pantyhose at all times. why do you toss them? it's so easy to wash, and it's not even like you're breaking your back to do it.
*
I really don't see how this makes sense for Malaysian weather. Then again, the blazers and ties are probably equally bad... except that they can be taken off easily whenever it gets hot!

Yes, you are in the air conditioned office most of the time, but how about going out for lunch? Stopping by somewhere after work? Walking to your car?

Guess where pantyhose came from - European countries. What do you think the difference between those countries and Malaysia is? COLD LAH. I'm in NZ and lots of women in skirts here wear pantyhose, and it totally makes sense, because you need a protective layer over your bare legs or you'll freeze to death. It's just silly Malaysia that tries to adopt all those trends without bothering to think about climate suitability.
