length, you have nothing to worry about whether it is patterned or not .. the only problem is the last button on that shirt.
It might look too close to the bottom of the shirt if you alter it too much and the sleeves might look too long =O

if you alter at a RM5 shop, your altered shirt might not be what u expect.
at a more expensive alteration centre, you can discuss with the tailor and ask for opinions and options before altering.

You're right, the madras shirts are quite long. I have to get it altered. No more M's. L's still fits okay.

Nobody bought their slubby pique polos at rm29.90? went to buy the madras but only the lousy colourways were left and they were all L or XL.
