1. for those who got their legend from the digi smartplan, how many years of warranty is given for the phone? i checked with some digi fella at pc fair, and he said only 1 year.

2. ok, i'm currently using a resistive touch screen phone (i type using my finger nails). when i tested the legend, i just can't get used to typing on the compact qwerty keyboard...any tips on how u guys type? do you use the pad of your finger or the tip of your finger?

3. is it just me or is the legend not as smooth as many has claimed? tongue.gif

just checked with the digi d'chat and they said that it is 1 year warranty, just like all other phones they offer.

maybe someone can check the imei of their phone with SIS? if it is valid, then maybe can get another year of warranty from SIS?

i went and asked again at the pc fair booth, and one guy called to check. he said the set is from sis, so it'll be 2 years warranty. so all is good biggrin.gif

bradas and sistas, there's a digi thread for legend over here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1392073

warranty is 2 years, since this phone comes from SIS. there's a SIS sticker on the box, and in the phone as well. hopefully a mod can move all the digi discussions to the digi-legend thread wink.gif

coming back to legend, and being a first time android user, all i can say is that i'm loving it tongue.gif. since there isn't any thread listing recommended free android apps for all android phones in general, here is something for noobies like myself to start with:

ASTRO file manager (some prefer EStrongs file explorer) - file manager
APNdroid - let's you toggle your 3G on/off
Astrid - todo/reminder app
AK Notepad - something like a sticky note
Barcode scanner - scan barcodes...for fun
Batterylife - monitor your battery life (with % left)
ColorDict - offline dictionary
Compass - a digital compass...for fun
Divi Clock - a small android clock widget (even comes in 1x1 size)
Opera Mini beta 5 - alternative browser to the stock android browser (fast but does not support multitouch)
racing thunder lite - a racing game using your phone's accelerometer to show off to your friends tongue.gif
silent boot - if you are using HTC, this can turn off the loud startup sound
stats - monitor your data usage (3G, sms, etc.)
sticky note - a sticky note widget
uninstaller - lists all the apps you have downloaded and choose which to uninstall
seePU - system monitoring utility (i find this app draining my battery though)

biggrin.gif

edit:
wow, it seems that all my posts are invisible to you guys. ok, happy paying more money to get more years of warranty..when it is something you already have.

btw, anyone find the incoming call rather soft (both speaker and non-speaker mode)? i've already maxed out the volume but it's still not that loud... wink.gif

some say that li-on batteries are not affected by frequent partial charging (http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm) and in fact, encourages it..haha

the real problem is when you are using your legend's usb tethering on your laptop. your legend will start draining your laptop's juice in no time biggrin.gif. the only solution is probably wifi tethering (either root the phone or wait for froyo update)

probably maxis never intended to push the legend sales  whistling.gif
btw guys, new rom to try out, this one uses espresso sense ui, more like a light version of normal sense
only drawback now is DCHP doesn't work on wifi connection

i've tried this rom. no doubt it's fast, but i noticed a few disadvantages:
-missing radio app
-no usb tethering
-only 5 home screens
-icons are iphone-style

if you can live with the above, and want a fast UI, then i'd recommend it biggrin.gif

Here's a copy-paste from HTC SEA website:

Update – HTC Legend Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) update
In our commitment to providing you with the best user experience, we are pushing out a new firmware update to your phone. Your phone will receive a notification of this update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G. After installing the update, you can confirm a successful update by confirming the Software Number (From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software information> Software number). The new software number after the update will be 1.31.707.3. Note:We recommend using a free Wi-Fi hotspot or an unlimited data plan to apply this update. If not, standard data connection charges may apply. For any questions, please contact us at http://www.htc.com/www/CA_Hotline.aspx

seems like a minor update: v1.31.707.3

I wonder if it'll work for rooted phones? biggrin.gif

hi need to confirm before I update, is it necessary to sync to my laptop before update ? After update, will the application all missing? And need to reinstall back.

funny that you quoted me, since i couldn't update my phone because i rooted it and installed another custom rom. but based on the postings by others, it seems that it won't interfere with your apps...

but don't take my assumption for granted. as taylor swift has sung in her song "forever and always": "Oh back up, baby back up, did you forget everything?"

backup apps to SD card -> appmonster/astro file manager
backup sms -> sms backup restore
backup apn settings, ms exchange settings -> i dunno any app, just use pencil and paper

Are you guys by any chance using an automated task killer? If you are then you are suppose to whitelist the "clock" application.

sorry, i don't know about the calendar sound notification problem. in case u can't find the solution, u might wanna try the RemindMe app - rather easy to use.

but i have 2 other problems:

Problem 1: in the "contacts" app, whenever i set someone's birth date, it will always reduce the date by 1 day.

Problem 2: i use handcentsms. when i receive sms from DiGi (promotion/spams), i always get 2 smses. 1 will be from DiGi, another one will be 'from' the first word in the sms. Example:

SMS1: From 2016 "RM0: Don't get left out...blablabla"
SMS2: From RM0 "Don't get left out...blablabla"

anyone got these weird problems?

Azure ROM (android 2.2) for rooted Legend users: Azure CyanogenMod 6

Edit: Tried the ROM (only 65MB in size) but didn't find it that smooth as claimed by some. Hmmm...

mind providing the link for htc legend the scratch test? i know there's a drop test, but haven't come across a scratch test video for legend before. there are scratch test videos for wildfire, desire, hero, etc...but none for legend. i guess legend's not so popular eh biggrin.gif
