I'm about to upgrade my iphone 3g to iOS4. But since i bought this iphone from a second hand seller, so i'm not sure whthr this unit is a locked unit or not. How can i make sure that my unit is not a locked unit?

I've checked thru internet that my unit model (MB489B) is from ireland (O2). So is there any possibilities that my set is a locked unit? So far i'm using my iphone with my maxis and its working ok. When i bought my iphone, it's already jailbroken. I'm afraid the previous owner already do some tweaking or unlocking it.

Your unit its confirm locked. I believe that previous owner unlock it using blacksn0w or unltrasn0w. The only way to make your unit to become official unlock is by paying a sum of $ to O2 to unlock it.

So for now, just stay with your current firmware. Once you upgraded, your phone will get locked. You can check ultrasn0w tread below to study more on this unlocking thinggy.

O2 from Ireland does not support carrier unlocking. BTW why you want to upgrade to iOS4? They omit few updates from iOS4 to 3G and somehow makes the phone kinda cacat from 3Gs. It does not even support homescreen wallpaper and not to mention multitasking.

Hurmm, seems like i made a mistake in buying this unit i want to upgrade to latest OS simply bcoz right now i'm stuck with the older version 3.1.2 (7D11) firmware 04.26.08, which i think the battery management of this version is kinda bad since it's an old version.

I updated to iOS4 to fix this problem. BUT I lost my JB capabilities

Internet Tethering is also now available under General--->Network and General--->Network--->Cellular Data Network

Go into your iPhone and clear all photos. There will be trash icon at the bottom. Just click and your picture will get deleted.

plug in your iPhone to your PC via the USB cable.

locate 'My Computer' (where all your hard disk drives, DVD drives et cetera are filed).

and look for your iPhone (it should be labelled as a digital camera).

double click the icon and copy accordingly

Just wanna share that i found what I want. It's called Panorama in Cydia which allow panoramic feel of background like android. Give it a try

if it still doesn't work, chances are that you may need to restore your iPhone (sorry to bring up the 'restore' word, but this has happened to me before and that was the only solution for me)
