QUOTE(kellyisevil @ Jul 5 2010, 08:20 PM) crap! LOL. my first choice after my spm is to go to nottingham for Mpharm. LOL and i was told its easier than medic. LOL. lol. u were told? How tough is it? It's all about chemicals and a little of maths right? definition of chemical from wiki: In chemistry, a chemical substance is a material with a specific chemical composition.[1] A common example of a chemical substance is pure water; it has the same properties and the same ratio of hydrogen to oxygen whether it is isolated from a river or made in a laboratory. Some typical chemical substances are diamond, gold, salt (sodium chloride) and sugar (sucrose). Generally, chemical substances exist as a solid, liquid, gas, or plasma and may change between these phases of matter with changes in temperature or pressure. Chemical reactions convert one chemical substance into another. so no...u dun study that in pharmacy...u only do organic chemistry..looks like u have a lot of research more to do.. |

pharmacy is more than memorising..
u need to apply what u learn as well.. for example: if medicine A is for stomach pain, B for fever, C for cough. doctor ask u prepare medicine. u have to know how much dosage u should prepare, whether A & B will react with each other or not, or will A nullify C's effect. if its just plain memorising, there would not be shortages of good pharmacists because everyone can memorise. please do more research before you decide what course to do. MPharm is not cheap. to be blunt you dun even know what does a pharmacist do and your knowledge of this course and career are from your close friends/relatives who are not real pharmacists themselves. no offense ya. QUOTE(kellyisevil @ Jul 5 2010, 10:18 PM) Okay maybe my understanding about pharmacy is shallow. LOL. But like i said, its about memorizing stuff. LOL you do need to memorize it and then apply in daily life right? if not whats the point of memorizing it? LOL name me one course that doesn't require you to memorise and apply in daily life? so u chose pharmacy because you like memorising? |

QUOTE(kellyisevil @ Jul 5 2010, 10:26 PM) so why do they say its easier than medic? my advise..? why do u want to study pharmacy in the first place? peer pressure? aunty tell u? parents tell u? Added on July 5, 2010, 10:31 pm QUOTE(kellyisevil @ Jul 5 2010, 10:28 PM) errr..are u after spm? because spm chemistry is nothing compared to a-levels/stpm chemistry. and its definitely not fun. QUOTE(kellyisevil @ Jul 5 2010, 10:32 PM) nope, firstly, i like chem, u r from brunei? secondly, the demand for pharmacist is quite high (in brunei). LOL no one ask me to take this course, i asked them about it, then they gave their opinion. my parents are pretty much fine with anything. Added on July 5, 2010, 10:34 pm yea -.- i know right. LOL spm is nothing. i am not sure to go to foundation or take A levels. errmmm..which part of chemistry u like? well..if u do foundation there's no much choices left but to go straight to the intended course but with A-levels u got more flexibility(provided results are good). |

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Jul 5 2010, 10:32 PM) pharmacy kinda involves biology (physiology, to be exact) and chemistry, doesn't it? yeapz. organic chemistry.you come from SPM chemistry? You have so much more to learn. Good to know you're interested in it. Just be sure that that interest stays with you for as long as it takes to complete your ambition. |

QUOTE(DJFoo000 @ Jul 5 2010, 10:41 PM) take A levels. In my opinion if you can study for it, always go for the one with a wider option. Time is nothing to young people like us. i tell people sometimes to take 2 or 3 hours off their day and stare at a blank wall and think what they actually want. IMHO Most people know what they want to do after a pre-U (either because they realise the knowledge involved or Pre-U sparked the true interest). Post-SPM students should not be making that decision now. My personal experience: when small, I wanted to be a computer engineer (that time (UPSR) I knew nothing about it, juz know computer damn nice), then i wanted to be a cardiologist ( (PMR) that time still dunno much about bio), then I want to be a psychologist ( (SPM) kinda interested in human thinking, thank god for the inner scientist in me to stop me), and for a while I wanted to study sociology ( (STPM) wanted to quit science). But being interested in mechanics has always been a part of me. So, here I am, waiting to study mechanical engineering (thanks Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman). Maybe my 'interest' is still changing... Shiat.... |
