Hello there everyone, greetings and good evening.

You see I have been applying to UNMC and I'm interested in studying their BSc (Hons) Nutrition there (application form submitted). It has been two weeks since then and I haven't receive any reply from them. Does anyone's application take so long before?

And I was wondering if anyone heard anything about this course yet? As far as I know it's been introduced this year and I missed out the chance of attending the Open Day last week (can't get parents to bring me there).

What worries me more is UNMC's self accreditation status, I know it is a good thing that acknowledges UNMC's ability but I can't seem to find the code for Nutrition. Doesn't that mean I'm ineligible to apply for PTPTN? Yes I have sent an email to Enquiry about two weeks ago. And again, haven't been receiving reply from them. sad.gif

Sorry for the chain of questions, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to email them again "demanding" for reply I guess?

Hope to hear out from anyone seniors here that could help.

Thanks and regards. =)

The course is new, that's why you may not be able to find much info outside of the website. Just ask again about the PTPTN, highlighting that such information is crucial for you to decide. They probably overlook your email. Alternatively, an inquiry to PTPTN office may be beneficial as well.
2 weeks of application does not sound too long for me, although now is not the peak season. Be aware that the application process is rather different from other IPTS (you know that yourself, who else ask for personal statement and sealed reference), and thus they really consider a lot of things before giving out offers.

Call for Amy Han @Tel: 03-89248063

I encountered the same problem (BSc Economics) and Mrs Han told me that the School has submitted the application and it is recognised by MQA. However, they have yet attain the PTPTN code. And she also said (hopefully) the code will be available before the intake.. rclxub.gif  That's for Economics though, you should give her a call regarding about yours. Cheers

Thanks people. smile.gif

At least now I know I'm not the only having such problem, yea the two weeks should be normal process according to one of my friend who just started E&E there this Feb. I'm just getting a lil bit impatient coz I thought of attaching the offer letter together with my Star Education Fund Application.

Will be contacting Amy Han or perhaps calling up Admission if I still don't get a response by next Friday.

Thanks again everyone. laugh.gif

Nottingham is getting more and more B¡tchy.

1.) There's a fee for accepting their offer (RM1k)
2.) The High Achiever Scholarship is not eligible for subsequent years anymore on top on the fact that the minimum requirement has increased.
3.) To get a scholarship from Nottingham for Year 2 and 3, instead of having to score only 65%.. you must now score at the top of 10% in your class.
4.) They have not changed their accommodation management company despite the agony of their students. (just something extra to add, really)
zOMG! I shouldn't have taken a gap year!

manthew what course have you applied for? I sent in my application on 9 Feb and till now I'm still waiting for their reply. sad.gif

"you must now score at the top of 10% in your class." This is like so OMG la, getting into Nottingham is already not an easy thing, they want you to be Top 10 somemore... If there are student who are really that academically capable. I think they would have been JPA-ed dy I guess?

Hey is there anyone here who enter Nottingham under The Star Education Fund (any courses will do)? I'm currently applying to Nottingham under that fund for Nutrition.

(I hope I'm not asking in a wrong thread?)

Guys, there is a little problem going on here.

You see, I've received an email from the Admission moments ago, content are as follows,

I don't really understand (in fact quite confused rclxub.gif ) now, anyone come across such cases before? Another friend of mine who is already studying in Nottingham just got the offer letter directly. 1K is not a small amount you know...

QUOTE(limeuu @ Mar 15 2011, 01:02 PM)
what that means is that, you have NOT formally applied for admission. However, it appears your qualification is adequate for them to accept you for that course...........

since you have not formally applied, they also cannot formally offer you a place....therefore to receive a formal offer, you will need to apply and pay your application fees.........

generally, if you meet the deadline stated, you should be given an official offer........

people who have formally applied and paid the fee will get a full offer straight off...........
*
Okay I understand that it's "pay-and-get-our-offer-letter" case.

But you see, I'm not an International Student, it's stated in their website the application fee applies for only International Student.

I did everything according the procedure with personal statement and reference letter. Another friend of mine got the offer letter directly (without getting the pay 1K letter). He is not holding any external scholarship or getting sponsorship.

Btw, "generally, if you meet the deadline stated, you should be given an official offer" Do you mind explaining abit on this, I don't quite get what you mean. And what do you mean by formally applied? Is there any informal way of applying? unsure.gif

this RM1K thing occurring to Malaysians is a new thing. Several other forummers have mentioned the same thing. Anyone emailed the admissions office for clarification? Seriously they reply emails quite fast one.

This was never the case when i applied, which was in 2010. They even couriered me the offer letter before I accepted the offer (which was about a few days after they emailed the soft copy). Weirdly enough on the website the only fee they mentioned was tuition fees. No advance payments of tuition fees thru some form of deposit.
*
My friend who's first year there in February this year (applied on Jan) did not get the pay-1k-for-your-offer-letter email, got direct offer. And speaking of "Seriously they reply emails quite fast one." I'm unfortunate enough to wait one month after calling and emailing them. I waited so long hoping to get the offer letter before I could proceed with other scholarship/loan application and there they gave me, "You want offer letter arh? Gimme 1k lorh."

QUOTE(Zeuss1220 @ Mar 15 2011, 05:24 PM)
The 1k is just the deposit of the tuition fees. You still pay the same total fees but only that you pay the 1k earlier to show your acceptance together with the accept/decline form. Just keep in mind that you ARE NOT PAYING EXTRA MONEY.

I'm applying for The Star Education Fund under the same course same Uni as well. I won't be able to study there at all if I didn't get any form of scholarship or whatever. Have a younger brother who's going to take his SPM result next week.

Somemore, I needed the Offer Letter before I can apply other scholarships or the ECM Libra Loan.

Updates regarding "Pay RM 1000 for your offer letter" matter.

I've sent an email to Enquiry yesterday, the mail got forwarded to Admission and a lady called Vian Cheh Thian Teh (googled her up and found out that she's the Executive (Research & Funding) under "CENTRAL ADMINISTRATION - External Relations Office"

Vian Cheh Thian Teh

The reply Admission gave me was...

Okay, seems like it's new policy this year and they have not updated that in their website yet (or are they ever going to do so?) hmm.gif

The short reply was a bit cold blooded don't you think? cry.gif

Still don't know whether to pay up or not coz I applied for Star Education Fund under the same course and same Uni as well.

Btw, spread this out to any Nottinghamians to-be that you might know so that they are prepared for that "pay RM1000 for your offer letter" matter.

@Entryman and eXPeri3nc3.

Yes I applied for the Star Education Fund, under the same course same Uni. My parents won't be financially capable of paying the fees in Nottingham coz I have a younger brother that is going to get his SPM result in like less than ten days.

But then if I don't get the offer letter I cannot proceed to apply ECM Libra Foundation Scholarship/Loan (let's say I didn't get the Education Fund in the end)

So I'm like halfway stuck now with the deadline for paying in less than a month, still thinking about it.

For Star Edu normally they'll interview you and let you know the result in 2 weeks.

How long as it been?

My case is a bit bizzare cos I delayed my interview so the results came out like 30mins after the interview.
*
Erm, what do you mean by how long has it been?

"The results came out like 30mins after the interview." Okay that's a bit like extreme heart attack case. Lol..

Yup!! My Desire is still unrooted till now. Don't dare to mess around -yet-
I think it would be more fun if it's not just focused on Android, say like it's a club for mobile platform. More people can join then.
