hey guy, i just wanna ask is there a washing machine provided for edu square houses ?

kinda disappointed with a house rented almost few k per month that even without a washing machine.. =(
*
Check the contracts, handbooks etc. I think there should be washing machines provided. If there isn't one, request for one.

broga's pan mee or rabbit meat. there are more restaurants around but after one year in notts, you'd have explored everyone of them.

Not many to find out.
Some alternatives in Semenyih New Village but they are all OILY.

Yeah. DM1 is a big module.
You attend lectures for various topics, hand drawing tutorials, Pro|E (CAD software) tutorials, workshops/labs (not happening every week). Around there lo..

BTW, is your timetable in softcopy or hardcopy?

@eXPeri3nc3:Just saw it..haha..Never notice about it.

@tanjinjack:Which Semenyih New Village are you referring to?
Still got old village?

@joanne_yan:You should attend IMHO..To know more ppl,unless u prefer to be self-dependent.
*
New Village as in new village, where Chinese lives (you know the history when the British wants to combat with the Communists, they relocate the chinese into new village, that new village la..)
The entrance is the lao fu zi nasi lemak.

@tanjinjack thx 4 all d info  rclxm9.gif  but sadly it sounds like a very tiring yr 1 & 2 in mechEng T_T cry.gif I heard Mechanical is more to designing and using creativity tats y i m so interested... but 4 now it makes me jealous of others course XD
*
If tiring has been the primary factor, just change course. But I believe being able to apply your creativity is what you are looking for, isn't it?

Labs/workshops are not conducted every weeks. There is a separate timetable where you'll get that tells you which week you need to attend for those.

Juz a quick question!

Is it true that the first few weeks does not have tutorial classes? Does this mean we are free during this time?
*
It certainly depends on the subjects specifically. Some lecturers prefer not to have tutorials in 1st or 2nd weeks as what the lectures cover could essentially be those stuff in A-Level, i.e. revision. Follow your lecturers' advice on the tutorial sessions in early weeks.

fuiihhhhh... Tons of year long modules... First is Thermo&Fluids, now ElectroMechanical. And i tot university goes modular liao...
*
To make you feel a bit sad. If you were to join 2 years earlier, you get thermodynamics and fluid mechanics as separate modules (both year 1 and year 2), and you get EM to be separated into different modules as well. Materials & Materials Forming is just the nasty one we have to face.

Don't think that it's possible at all. You may probably find yourself in Chem Year 1 instead.

@parirparir, do you know what is 'annual fee'? Did you even read the page Farscope posted?
*
Can we, the regulars here somehow agree on not spoon feeding any potential students if those information is available on the internet? Okay, maybe stuff like academic calender (which is somehow hard to find, IMHO) we can point it to them, but not something like registration detail, course structure, tuition fee etc. that can be found on the websites with minimal effort?

Somehow, quite fed up with those questions. What's worst is "this uni got _______(insert course name)?" They don't even bother to just look up. Google "nottingham malaysia" or typing it up Firefox address bar will straight away bring you to the website. That's not hard, isn't it?

@tanjinjack, lol that issue is common to all forums and it's subforums. To the regulars it's pretty annoying especially when the asker (?) expects the answer to be full and complete and definitive.

To the asker, they will think the forummers are arrogant, stuck up and unhelpful when their requests are unfulfilled.

Sometimes I also dunno when is the right time to refer someone to Google. Refer them too many times, like arrogant bast*rd. Tell them directly, might as well start my own answer.com.

To get questions that the answers are available within a 0.5 second google search, esp in the education thread, kinda sad, huh?
*
Why would I care when I am thought to be arrogant if those who think so are some lazy bums that refuse to google.
Let them be. Just ignore, or point them to www.nottingham.edu.my.
Period.

hi guys, planning to study degree in applied english in nottingham, when is the next intake ah?

the website nvr write oso

also, the requirement stated on the website is ABB for a-levels = ="
if i get like.. say BBB or BBC for example, do u think can still enter 1 ah?
*
Well, to be honest, if it's a new programme, usually you will get an entry as they want to get it more students, in an attempt to attracting more students in return. Until they reach a cohort where they think that amount is suitable, they are likely to take in students which is one or 2 grade lower. BBB or BBC for ABB should be okay, certainly you'll get rejected for a CCC la.
In some cases, you might be asked to attend an interview conducted by the lecturer of the school concerned.

hows the security like? say, in edu square?
i read they have warden staying nearby and security patrols?
other than that?

this question is basically from my parents la.
they scared i get roommates who keep bringing rowdy guys over or something lol

lol
ok
sorry, i wasnt so clear earlier.
shouldve said if applied english got JANUARY intake or not.
and the site never say lols.
*
You will need to come to the university and check out Edu Square on your own. It's a collection of houses around TTS 5 that are refurbished by the developer and be rented out at extremely overpriced rates. Only few selected houses are actually confined within a Square, with the rest scattered around a small area (TTS 5). Security within the square itself is certainly top-notch, with only one entrance and guards stationed there all the time.
If you happen to be in those scattered around one, then you'll get guards patrolling those places every 2 hours (my friend used to stay there last year, not sure if it has gone more regular or less).

Whether if there's January intake, it depends on whether if the school itself wants to offer or not. You may try to ask the Director of Studies of the respective school to find out. In general, you are likely to see more courses to come for the January intake. For instance, this year Jan intake has started to include EE courses, which is not available from previously other Jan intake.
To be honest, it's not a big intake, and if your course isn't the popular one, chances are it won't be offered during the minor January intake.

Anyway,thanks for the feedback yea.
Hopefully no crash by the time I could take up that module.
Heard Mech Eng also has option to take it also.
*
Yup, a lot don't want to take it though. It's probably the hardest module offered by the Mech department. If you have been exposed to more Fluid Mechanics, you know it's ridiculously hard and MM4CFD brings it to an even tougher level. I have one more week to decide if I really want to take it!

Hey engineering seniors/students, I have a question. My calculator is slowly dieing and I'm thinking of buying a new one. May I know what model/s that you are currently using?
*
Is it dying or just running out of battery? If it's battery issue, just go to watch shop, they should have the replacement battery you need. If you are looking at switching a new one, you are still looking at dual-line at most (i.e., showing two rows at the same time), you can't get anything better because it's not allowed in the exam.

Dual-line is like this...

CODE
1+1
=2

after you input 'Ans' '+' '2' and then 'enter', it should give:

CODE
ans+2
=4

instead of
CODE
1+1
=2
ans+2
=4

Recalled one of you talked about CFD.
Have attended the class for 4 weeks by now and is here to drop a comment!

Unless you want to grind for it, or really like the subject wholeheartedly, don't take it, even if you are from a mechanical background.
To be honest, I am unsure why is it made compulsory to Year 4 Chem Eng, for which they do not really have the essential knowledge for the course, like the Navier-Stoke equation.

The course is divided into two parts, one for learning FLUENT, the CFD software package, and the other for the theory, giving an introduction on turbulence (the main reason why we need CFD), and also the models employed in solving the unknowns of a fluid problem.

I personally am fascinated by fluid problems, as it is very complex and challenging. Oh, I might be fascinated more by the software used, its robustness in solving questions.

Hey there,I am the one who talked about CFD.
Yea,I am fascinated by the program too, especially after my friend showed me what the program can calculate and do.
Those flows are really beauty.
I just hope that I can take it in Chem Eng Year 3 as I don't feel like going into MEng.
btw,I am from Year 2 Chem Eng.
*
It might just be too tough for you on the theory part.
If what you fancy is just showing the contours, then you just learn yourself on the software itself - although without a strong basic in fluid mechanics, you may still find it hard to do so.
Try to log in to the university's PC, and run FLUENT (and also GAMBIT), read the documentation to get a start. If you think that's what you want, you can continue to do it.

FLUENT is the more important thing. GAMBIT is just the drawing and meshing tools only (and a stupid one).

But, if you do not have strong fluid mechanics background, you wouldn't appreciate FLUENT too much also.
The best thing is to pick up a book about fluid mechanics and go through Navier-Stoke equation first and perhaps some readings on boundary layers as well.

I nearly ignore your actual question as I thought the large font is your signature. Why the large font?

Anyway, some of us might be a JPA scholars, but none of us are JPA. Your questions could only be answered by JPA - thus ask them.
