I'm like calling them every five minutes. The admission office are the only ones picking up the phone but they can't do anything about the accommodation... I've actually talked to the manager of the accommodation office yesterday but he didn't really answer what I was trying to ask. I guess I just have to keep calling... I don't want to drive there everyday....haha
*
Manager of the accommodation office being a he? Which hall are you applying to? Okay, whatever. Just bug them until they want to sort out your applications.

But be warned, with you being in a driving distance to the campus, they can reject your application to stay on campus. But, try to do things early so if you need to find off-campus, you'll have plenty of time as well.

Does the university allow usage of utorrent?
*
No, if you are using the internet service provided by IN the university and also IN the accommodation.
Yes, if you are using your own broadband.

i've been scared a lot these days...><
btw...what is the ratio between boys n girls in mecheng?
*
About 10% girls? More or less around there.
Just take it easy, girls are generally welcomed by the guys in such an imbalanced cohort, gender-wise.

ya...i heard there're only about 30++ freshmen for mecheng this year
*
My year (08/09 intake) has about 80 in fact. Another 20 being mechatronics I believe.
I was told that the 09/10 has about 130 for the Sept intake, probably less than 10 for another Jan intake.
The one before me 07/08, has a big intake as well.

So, it's just that my year has a smaller intake.
Thus, over 100 should be what to be expected.

oic....guess i'll find out when i m there....
erm...from what my friend told me that we can take up foreign language on campus right?
*
There was the FREE Spanish class and that got filled up very quickly. Not sure about the Mandarin and Malay class as I don't bother about them.
There are other language classes, offered by the societies, but require a small amount of fee.

damn, i hafta find another source for tv shows den...I think im gonna stay in Pangkar/Kapas halls as well, they juz emailed me yesterday giving me 3 days to pay. Anyone else taking undergraduate com sci? juz how fast r d download speeds at nottingham for on campus internet?
*
There are three packages for the on-campus accommodation, with 768kbps being the fastest and 128kbps being the free one.
You may want to explore about direct download method, like from megaupload, rapidshare, hotfile etc. - but you need to grab the line as a lot of people are sharing one IP. (Or you can opt for premium account for those file sharing sites.)

Speed in the university differs as it's used by the whole community. Not sure if during the midnight how fast it can go - but each unique user is capped for certain speed.

i c, and when do we get to choose the packages? i thought it was already implemented along with the accommodation rates.
*
Oh well. NO. Accommodation and internet fees are separated.
It is, however, that you can opt for a free internet service at 128kbps.
If you pay more, you can get 512kbps, or 768kbps.
Pay more, get more.

hello guys and girls,

I'm going to graduate soon, and thinking of applying a Masters in Engineering (coursework based) in Nottingham Malaysia campus.

I've checked the webpage and the pricings - not bad at all.

So anyone has any experience studying postgrad there?

Thanks.
*
There is NO postgraduate Master of Engineering in Nottingham. The postgraduate engineering degree is named Master of Science.
At the moment, there are only limited coursework Master. Check online to see if which MSc you are interested in.

Hi.
I was offered single ensuited bathroom wit a/c @625.
However, tat was my third choice  and it's Too expensive for me .@@
Is it possible for me to change it?

Thanks!!
*
Then you shouldn't have put it in your 3rd choice if you knew you will never be able to afford it.
That being said, your 1st choice and 2nd choice are full, that's why you get the 3rd.
Just make a call or email them to ask for a change for a cheaper one before accepting the offer.
Make a better priority list to avoid more delay which may cause your primary choice being filled up by others.

If there's still rooms available, and you send in the application together, they could do it for you - but no guarantee though.

why u guys hostels so expensive one? rclxub.gif
*
I have been thinking this question for two years. Too hard to build a room in a forest I guess.

Added on August 15, 2010, 7:29 pm465 is two people share one bathroom where it's one door away from the toilet, and it's by Pioneer (slightly nearer to campus.)
435 is few people (4?) share one bathroom, two doors away (your room door then the toilet door), and it's by Perintis, further a bit lo.

one door away means? if few doors away then cheaper?

this is an individual unit or a whole hostel building?
*
One door away means the bathroom is attached to your room and that bathroom is limited to 2 people.
Two door away means the bathroom is not attached, but few steps away to your room, and that bathroom is limited to that 5(?) people. (It's like a unit with 4-5 rooms and 1 toilet)

I don't think there is any regulars here from Psychology. But if you have questions about living in Nottingham then we can certainly help you. Academic wise, well, not much help.

Hello.. I just wanna ask.. I took International Baccalaureate as my foundation. Do this University need subject requirement for each subject? If it is so.. whats the minimum requiremnt it will be? thank You.. By the way.I want to take chemical engineering..
*
Yes, there is subject requirement. If it's Chemical Engineering, then you are probably looking at doing well in both your Chemistry and Physics. It should come equivalent of a B in A-Level. (No idea what score will that be in IB)
Consult the Admission Office or the Chemical Engineering department for more information.

Nottingham's biotech study 3 years locally only. Monash's biotech allow you to do internship to Australia campus if your result is good
*
Now, the 'if your result is good' is very misleading. Internship opportunity does not lie whether your result is good or not. It's whether the company wants to take you or not. You can even secure an internship opportunity in the States, Japan, Tanzania, Faroe Island, Madagascar or whereever as long as the company takes you. Indeed, better result opens up more opportunities, but that doesn't mean you will be allowed to do internship in the Australia. Unless, they have assigned certain quota for the top scorers to do that - and if that is the case, it is your judgment whether to tackle the top places for that or not - or you want a quality UK education.

One thing for sure though. Biotech, despite being a small school, has a dedicated building for their research.

Compared and I like Notts.

http://www.nottingham.edu.my/Faculties/Sci...technology.aspx

http://www.ucsi.edu.my/programmes/BScBiotechnology.asp

Come on. UCSI is like so dead, no electives until third year, and what, so few only...
Not an expert in Biotech, but it seems Nottingham covers whatever UCSI covers as well, with more breath in the courses. Why would you say UCSI's better?

Added on August 22, 2010, 2:23 amIf you are interested in what Nottingham is really teaching, go to:
http://modulecatalogue.nottingham.ac.uk/no...main_search.asp
and type in the course name. You get a brief for what the module is going to deliver to you.
This is what Malaysia education is not doing. Their module structures usually do not get published and you won't know if your Chemistry I (for example) covers how much chemistry compare to others' Chemistry I. Skeptical I would say.
