You guys really have to start using better computers. Your "classroom" computers are meant for studying, researching etc. NOT gaming.

Dota can la But seriously, do something especially for your 2 FPS games where frames per second really matters.

ConvoFest is like a collection of events. The eSports tourney was one of it and is managed by GDC. You know that the nature of college is that students comes and go. So it's natural that the next iteration of events is handled by totally set of people. The whole club could even contained diff members, so its also possible that the pple in 2010 doesn't know what 2009 did, hutang or whatsoever.

I experience this personally with a tournament in MMU Melaka a while back. I didn't claimed my prizes for quite a while, so when I finally get the hang around of it, the club already run by totally diff set of pple who didn't knew (or was not informed) that the committee of that event still owe me prizes. So, in the end, tak dpt satu sen pun (FFFFFUUUUUU). Ada la mock cheque satu, lol.

So personally, I would suggest you to nudge Eric again as Eric alrdy agree to refund and Kumhon alrdy graduated. Not Convofest pple or this year's pple.

Just moi two cents.

generally, one way or another, i don't really have much of a liking anymore towards any MMU tourney, but i still wish them luck anyways. i apologize for the rant post, i know this is not my blog

You should be specific.
You don like the way the people handle the tourney, NOT MMU tourney. Different people handle it differently. This year COD we have game marshal from ESPGL. So I think it's being standardized.
You should give us a chance

you have to understand why i'm jaded, because 2 guys have so far let me down. that experience has left a bad taste in me. i agree with you in principle, its not your fault as the organizers this year. that doesnt stop me from being illogical (which is a specialty of humanity)

as for being specific, thats part of the problem, the details seem to be lost right now, on both ends. right now i can tell you beyond a shadow of doubt, that it was gamefest 09. other than that though, i cant remember the amount i paid, which while i would like to say is rm30, i have no proof (i was hoping eddie and then later eric would've helped me figure that out).

finally, me wishing you luck is me giving you a chance la i'm not sitting here praying you guys will fail, i'm hoping you exceed beyond expectations. both yours and mine. for the good of gamerkind. (just for the record, i'm not being sarcastic )

Dear Chap, thanks a lot bro for explaining. Always owe you a big gratitude in supporting us thus far.

As for everybody's information, yeap, ConvoFest is actually the collaboration of many events, with many clubs helping us to commemorate for the graduates of each particular year. And definitely, GameFest was held on for the first time last year, with the help of Cyberview Lodge and made Cyberfusion happen.

As for the E-Sports competition last year, which is March 7th and 8th, which apparently doesn't accumulate to even one year for now, was done by GDC personally to find the qualifiers for Cyberfusion.

With regard to what Chapree said, that is definitely true, each and every year, with GDC higher-committees graduated leaving only the new-guns trying their way and probably did not passed down the essential part to continue make the club progress. We realised that discrepancy thus we had build our GameFest team with more new people with guidance from senior members (before they leave). Our goal is to cultivate leadership and not just the passion in gaming. This is an initial step that we are trying to do for this year and to continue pursue and do better each year. And definitely, Chapree truly make a point because not everyone will take the initiative to do something, not talking bout doing the best, but even their own things they couldn't settle properly. And for our club, as Rome is not built in a day, Chapree's note will definitely be well learn and improve.

to be quite honest, if the records have been lost to time (which is entirely possible, i was almost in tears when i thought i misplaced my psu receipt and needed it for warranty ), then lets just move on. but definitely not forget, and definitely something to be made a lesson of, so its never repeated, at least in the future of MMUGDC. it would be a pity if issues like this to become a common problem when you guys clearly put a lot of effort into your events and the gaming community.

I'm sorry to make it this way, but I will treat it as a small misunderstanding again. I'm the advisor of Gamefest 2010 and supposingly not being given a High-Comm post, as I'm suppose to be assisting, guiding and bringing this new potential event organizers of GDC. It is not that I want to break my silence, or ranting, 'Why can't I just retire in peace'. I received calls and SMS-es regarding this lowyat thread and saying there were people looking for me. At first I thought it was some old buddies who want to tell me that they are definitely coming, but will pay me when or sort. But I was surprised to read the posts in the thread whereby I was in Genting that time! Bear with me guys, this is going to be a long reply, and if you check back the Convofest thread that I had last time, the same thing is about to happen. And I will personally apologise first on behalf of GDC team for that lacklustre. This is not something that I want quarrel or argue about, as this is really a small matter. Misunderstandings happen but at some point, everyone has a limit with what they do. And the reason why I have to make this things straight is that, some of the things that mentioned by you, Strife, intentionally or unintentionally, is rather untrue. Also, for the sake of my GDC team, and for my minions to run this event smoothly, let this thread be a good high hits thread, but not something that is small being spilt over everywhere. Although it is bumping, but it kinda de-motivating their next step.

it was for entrance fees for NFS in the Esports 09 tourney, which was then canceled.

ConvoFest and GameFest was never near, ConvoFest was during August 09 while GameFest was March 09.


but isn't it run by the MMUGDC all the same?

The Gamefest 2009 (which was when the Esports Tourney was held) was with Kumhon as the head, who said he would refund me. finally nothing happened. Then Eric took over, and they ran Convofest, spoke to him, also said I would get my refund, til now still nothing. And then now we've got Gamefest 2010. still MMUGDC right?

I will make clear a statement in the after the below statement that you made later.

Alright, Strife. First of all, I will definitely admit that I have forgotten the payment during the first time, because you contactd KumHon, my ex-director rather late and he already graduated. Back then, I'm not in the High Comms seats, do not really know who to contact in assisting your problem and GDC is having a transition of new batch of committees, and that's when I took a post there. During the transition period, was then, I met you in DreamHack Winter Malaysian Qualifier organized by Go Intl. in One Utama. We both introduced ourselves and you told me regarding the money. And I wouldn't know you still remember or not, I clearly told you to remind me again as I was busy then on the CS competition and with a lot of organizing stuff to do . Why I can remember that I asked you to remind me? Simply because when I asked do you have my numbers, you said Yes, I have your email and we texted regarding that matter before. And since then, I too, never hear from you. The reason I'm stating this out is that, yes you mentioned that I have forgotten completely, but at the same time, I did my best by asking you to remind me, and you too, forget completely. I'm not pointing finger to say, ok, so this is no longer my fault, that's your fault. NOT MY OR YOUR INTENTION AT ALL. We both just, forget! And the refund is RM15, simply, when KumHon start collecting money, it was already downsized, and with prove, it was in his report for that event.

Dear Strife, I will personally apologise on the remarks that my junior have made. They are working their ass off in their publicity team and not that you were bashing, but as mentioned, they have their spirit pumped up to do their best, but apparently being pulled down by something they didn't do. Just the same thing that happen that KumHon was handling your time during your compy, I'm helping them, but I'm involved in part of the letting you down stuff. Let's put another way Just like you are newly elected as the Spotgamers webmaster, you are farely excited as well, but if someone came running stating your work and saying your work is unprofessional, how will you feel! You can argue, that is parts and parcels of life, but at some point, the way you respond are running too much on your emotion. I believe you just want to know what is all happening and things doesn't turn into your way, and you got flamed up. And you yourself know bout human that, upon getting flame, you flame back, just the same for remarks that was made by my committee.

This is just the simple reason why this thread heat up! Dude, let me put an excerpt for you. You are running an event, and having the excitement running all over your head, suddenly on the first page and second page of the Lowyat forum thread, somebody commented such things that they do not have much liking anymore towards you or your event. What will you feel? We don't have to talk about logic here bro, let's talk about common-sense first. And you have the self-conscience to say that, yeap, you apologise for ranting and say this is not your blog. And next, you mentioned about feeling jaded, so much so that people have let you down. I know that is your freedom of speech and I won't question your post in what you are doing in the gaming community anyway, but you should know what words are strong and what are not. If you are truly running your logic in commenting, this post won't be that bad after all, but man, your words like 'let me down', 'left a bad taste' and your jargons. And looking for me like I'm a Wanted person. Strife, do accept others flaws as much as yours too. KumHon guided my early pack and it was pass down to me, and I'm just merely helping and as mentioned, did asked you to remind me, and you mentioned as if this two guys is truly running the whole GDC down. And fyi, I wouldn't want to keep using the amount to tease or strike on you, as money is always a sensitive matter, you and I know it very well. But for that amount of money, causing other people's publicity being deter, is that your INTENTION? I believe NOT and I truly know that you are not those kind of people.

And for everybody in this committee of GDC we will truly apologise on the mistakes that we make. We are truly amendable as we are human, not robot, to strive better. I, on behalf of GDC will personally apologise to Kamahlaan "Strifemare" Thiagarajan, with regard to the refund problem and for any remarks that caused discomfort to him. Misunderstandings happen way too often and too easy, just that we must try to minimize the apprehending problem with a good solution. And personally, I wish you all the best with your work as a webmaster in Spotgamers.

just to highlight a few points for clarifications sake. when i said i confused the events, i meant it in the context that i saw gamefest 09 and convofest 09 as the same series, meaning gamefest 10 would be no.3, hence the my confusion in thinking that it was already 2 years.

to be quite honest, i don't recall meeting you at the dreamhack qualifier, but i'll take your word for it, it was a rather hectic time in my life so i can't say that my memory was 100%. however, if i took your number, it must've gotten lost, as i definitely did not have it til yesterday when i spoke to TPK.

to continue being honest, lets take it as training for the team then, to have to deal with someone like me. if someone did tell me that my work was unprofessional, unless that person was Jali himself, i really couldnt care less unless they had some constructive criticism. its all about knowing who you're accountable to. in this case, considering they were not directly responsible other than being affiliated with the club, the best response would've been, "hold on mate, we'll check it out and get back to you." may not always work, but its a good start.

right now however i'm not entirely sure if i'm being insulted for my vocabulary, and trying to get my point across clearly without causing any mix up. i hope that was not your intention. there was a lot more that i want to say, but i think there's really no point, because the fact of the matter is: 1. we're both really on the same team 2. its just too damned petty an issue 3. from 1 and 2, the conclusion is its not worth it.

anyways, end of the day, thanks for the refund, just as you had to rant, i'm sure you understood why i had to as well.

haha..to be quite honest as well, I'm one of the CS Marshal and coordinator for Trackmania. If you do not know about the CS Marshal, there are a few that you might know during that event that is Khairul, me and Yea Han. I hope I do help you to recap that moment a little. In addition also, the moment starts when Yea Han and the Trackmania participants is complaining saying why is it all bout CS competition, when it is postpone from Saturday to Sunday. Also, it is definitely a rather hectic time for myself as well, so you do know the discrepancy of our memory right.

Yes, you are right that regarding to care on the note that important people gave you, but your word is face to face. Not in the public place, or at least, some community place like this forum. Yes, you can ask us to care less about what you say, but you know this forum is not just for you and me, bro. And you definitely know what is word of mouth, and put yourself in a shoes that this thing happen, what will you feel and think will happen? You will think the negative side of this event too right. And the same reason that why I'm replying you here, at least to protect team, at some point that people get to know what exactly happen. If it is just between you and me, and in a room for both of us, I believe, I will do the same, I wouldn't care less, pay you the money reported it out and everything is settled. But doing that here simply people will think, 'WTF, they will refund so late and stuff?', thus letting me sitting down in front of my computer to clarify these stuff.

Don't worry, I'm not insulting your vocabulary, it is never close that place my friend. I know you are trying to get the point across and respect your intention to clear up something that is bugging you. We are not trying to insult you or trying to defame in anyway, our simple reason is that your word may mean normal for you, but it may mean something deep and serious for others. Example, for my team that they have to call me up to read such point. In your early post, it is quite normal whereby passer-by who read will think, just some small problem. But the last few posts seems like the case get really off-handed and it may give people the idea that, "Oh my, so serious, 2nd page already got people backlashing". You and I should know what is the deadliest weapon in our life, simply, it is our TONGUE.

Honestly, again and again, GDC or the previous batch of committee did mix up this part of refunding to you, the problem lead to me and later this new team of Gamefest. In fact, the problem is not with me and the new team, as we do not create this problem, and we are trying to settle your problem. And for my sake in this post, yes, my previous director problems lead to my name being use as a letdown and etc. more than it should I believe, I'm not pissed and wouldn't care less, but it is an event that is running now. And I hope you realise, that in my previous post, I wouldn't mind talking about the mistakes that GDC team or I made, and apologise for that. From there, only we solved the problem. If you see clearly, I don't even have to apologise. As I'm merely helping as you and Kumhon, as how you guys ask me to..and I'm not even the Treasurer of GDC and knew the previous Treasurer less to solve the problem. Hope you understand as well.

I already came up with plan B regarding this competition as well, so anything else, you guys can ask Gary 'Bliss' Heng from ESPGL. Thanks really a lot ESPGL for all the help.

To all COD4 players, we have a good news for you guys. The winners of the competition will be given products from Sai Tek Cyborg's products, and definitely thanks to NEW ERA for this wonderful prizes.

For Dota and CS Winners too will get the products, as well, but not for all the winners. Only for CHAMPION AND FIRST RUNNER UP.
