Summary: Straits Asia Resources Ltd (SAR) has unveiled a new CEO. The group
has appointed Mr Martin Purvis as successor to Mr Richard Ong. The appointment will take effect on 1 Mar. Mr Purvis has been a director of SAR since its IPO in Nov 06, and is also the CEO of SAR's parent company PTT Asia Pacific Mining. This appointment does not come as a surprise to us as we have previously highlighted the possibility of a change of leadership. With his extensive background in the resource industry, Mr Purvis appears to be well-suited for the role. We will have more updates after the company's conference call scheduled sometime in the middle of this week. For now, we maintain our SELLrating and S$1.73 fair value estimate. (Lee Wen Ching) |

They just completed the right issue, so it means they need the money. Before 2005, Bstead used to announce their quarter report at the end of February. About 2 weeks later, they would announce the dividends. So, HOPEFULLY, in about 2 weeks from now, we can see some extra goodies coming in.....Lets keep an eye out! Also with the completion of right issue, number of shares become more, so it means more dividend or cash needs to be paid if declare the same amount of dividend. Generally it is less likely company to give big dividend after right issue. Just take your cash from right issue, then give you back? |

The report says: The directors have not decided on dividend to declare yet. |

me not greedy, i'm content with 5c from BSTEAD...
TA paper on BSTEAD (taken from CBRS) QUOTE One-off Gains Boosted 4Q10 Earnings Boustead announced a sharply improved 4Q10 set of results. Net profit grew by 71.4% QoQ to RM147.7mn on the back of 4.4% increase in revenue, partly due to an undisclosed amount of fair value gain booked on revaluation of investment properties. We believe this gain could be in the region of RM30mn – RM35mn (RM08: RM37.2mn) based on the information available in the result notes. In addition, BHPetrol too recorded stockholding gain but again the amount was not disclosed in the notes. so technically their earnings should be lower if not because of one-off gains... as long as the price is reasonably supported, i'm ready for long term with Bstead... Not sacking lar. Just that the contract didn't renew only
Actually, there is a fear that the contract will not be renew, that's why the share price keep falling. Now, it is no longer a rumours. It is a fact. The theory of "buy on rumours, sell on news" can't pakai as rumours cause selling, that's why I revise it to "sell on rumours, buy on news" PS: not asking ppl to buy SAR... later kena SARS!!!
