Hey I was wrong! I removed my harddisk to install Ubuntu on SD card to make sure I don't mess anything up and still the palm rest area gets warm! It turns out its not the harddrive causing it but the HSF. Now its get annoying as I can't do anything to eliminate it sad.gif

Hi everyone, I just got my first laptop (y510p) and I'm really new so please do suggest a suitable cooling pad.

I bought CM A200 (for mobility) but found that it's not cooling enough for serious gaming.

Should I go for the CM X3 or CM U3 next? If I'm looking for the best cooling performance, should I go for the CM Storm SF-19?

Thanks
*
hmm.gif CM Storm SF-19 would be enuf... make sure your area is not dusty.. so dat not blocking the air flow vent

Yaloh, forget dust also doh.gif

Actually, the best way is elevate the laptop without blocking its air intake vent. Let the laptop fan take action, all external fan cooler only improve ventilation or air intake. Unless modifying internal cooling system, e.g liquid cooling.

I wonder how manufacturer will cool down new GTX880M (512bit?) 8GB GDDR5 and its SLI version hmm.gif
*
wow 512 bit.. H*****sheep... mega_shok.gif gt SLI.. total 3 fan.. include CPU.. but nvidia is not hot as amd.. so i think its ok.... sweat.gif think they use externel water block brows.gif grumble.gif

If they use external water block..... rclxub.gif It is all about moneyflies.gif  moneyflies.gif

Price may shoot to RM7k and above. shocking.gif

Plus, 3 fan system = Alienware 18.4 inch, totally desktop replacement.

But not sure GTX880M is Kepler or Maxwell, somehow I read a blog saying that it might be 120W!!!

sweat.gif 17" and above is desktop replacement..

QUOTE(Exogenesis @ Sep 30 2014, 03:05 PM)
Need a recommendation for my Lenovo Y400. The laptop overheats very fast and FPS will drop after 20-30 minutes of gaming.

I put my laptop on gaming mode, so it runs hotter than normal. The laptop is about 18 months old so I'm not sure if I need to repaste it.

Budget RM 80 - 150 for cooling pad
Don't want something that is too noisy and bulky.
*
normally, no need. but after 3 years, you might need to repaste it... but it depends. just need to clear some dust at the vent there... probably block by dust
