That's why I chose to use a freight forwarding service (Comgateway.com) they use DHL. No need to worry much about custom checks, and confirmed it'll be delivered directly to my door steps..hehehe (a few of my frens bought laptops from US through Comgateway...no problems so far..)

Interesting! First time of hearing this . . . LOL! Anyway, where did you buy yours? Not XoticPC?

hehehe..I bought at Gentech Pc.. G73JH-A1 = usd1625.65 (including bank processing fee, etc2) then had it shipped to Comgateway (US ground shipping is free) quite fast also...within 3 days Comgateway received my package, and then I had it shipped to me via DHL at a cost of usd100.27 (including insurance, etc2)...the problem was, i was late..the package and notification was given to me on Thursday, but i was sooo busy, i only open the mail on Friday, had all the payments done on friday, but had to wait till monday for it to process...had i done it on thursday, my package would had been on it's way by now....huhuhuhuhuhuhu... A few of my frens suggested to me this freight forwarding company.. (comgateway.com) they all bought their laptops through this company, no problems so far.. one fren even regularly shop in Amazon through comgateway. hehehe
*
Wow . . . quite a process there . . . So, you had yours shipped from GenTechPC to comGateway and assigned them as your freight forwarder? How did you notify them that the package is from GenTechPC and tell them to ship to you. Kinda confusing . . . rclxub.gif

QUOTE(Kaizoku @ Aug 8 2010, 12:05 AM)
nope..it's not confusing actually...If you go to www.comgateway.com website, there is a column for [I WANT TO SHOP AT:]  where you enter Gentech Pc web address, and a new tab will open....u make your selection, etc2... enter the US address given by comgateway (for shipping)...once order number is given by Gentech Pc, you just entered the Order number in the given page (opened with the new tab)....and voila! ur done... Comgateway will also give u a Transaction number for your reference...once the package is received, they(comgateway) will notify by email, they will also suggest IF a repacking is possible (because DHL charge by volumetric weight OR actual weight, which one is higher)

So, they will have the ALL the package details from Gentech Pc.and once received, will process it accordingly.

If you can just go through the web page, you can find it quite simple actually.

The confusing part for me initially was calculating the Volumetric Weight and shipping charges..hehehe but it's all clear now...their Customer Service is also good and helpful, and most importantly respond quickly.

So, you have to tell Ken Lee that you do not want to use USPS but you would like to use comGateway? hmm.gif

@Kaizoku

Thank a billion for your explaination, i really appreciate it....smile.gif

@Jeffrey1987

Im really poisoned by the wireless Roccat Pyra, how long is the battery life? want to more about it, about the design being small i dont mind actually, but in terms of battery longevity i do care much.. smile.gif
*
The battery life is not that great as the rechargeable batteries (brand = GP) which come along with the mouse is not good enough IMHO. It only can lasts approximately 10 hours in a single charge.

After that, I had also tested it with Duracell Plus disposable batteries which showed a better performance in battery life. I have posted it here.

Wow, I'm sure glad that I asked that question here! Thanks a lot to Kaizoku and Jeffrey and psjjl for their replies =), learnt a lot by just reading their posts lol.

In a nutshell, Mucro have bad customer service and even though you'll have to do a bit more to get your laptop from elsewhere, it's well worth the effort =).

can any1 provide me with the current market price of this laptop?planning to get a high spec laptop arnd this year end
*
For your information, all of the owners of Asus G73Jh in this thread bought their notebook from oversea. For example, US, Singapore and etc.

As for the recommended reseller for buying this notebook, I highly recommend you to buy it from GenTechPC which is a well known US reseller. You can refer here: http://1toppc.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Sc...egory_Code=AS17

The price of Asus G73Jh- A2 would be 1549 USD + 149 USD for shipping fee (USPS) and also have to pay transaction fee which is around RM25 for Maybank and 30 USD for US bank. Hope that will give you a rough idea. thumbup.gif

Kaizoku,

1. Could you give the breakdown for the shipping charges of USD 100.27?
2. Was it volumetric or weight based?
3. What was the weight of the package from Gentech?
4. Did Comgateway repackage it to reduce the shipping cost?

Thanks mate. This method sounds so much better since I won't need to roll the customs dice...

P.S. to all the G73 owners... Is it worth to get the IC Diamond thermal paste upgrade...? And did anyone buy the car charger? If yes does it work well?

heheh.. me noob with the questions...  rclxub.gif
*
Hello there . . . I can only answer the question #4. GenTechPC does not use the volumetric or weight based shipping. It is based on which freight forwarder that you choose. Normally, we assign USPS as our freight forwarder which cost us 149 USD.

As for the thermal paste, I have not heard anyone here at this thread who upgrade it to IC Diamond. IMHO, it is based on your preference as the stock thermal paste is good enough. laugh.gif

Lastly, I believe that no one here who bought the car charger for their notebook before. So, can't help you out on that matter. smile.gif

yea..problem lies at their stock sad.gif..

I'm with you on this matter. Many of the purchasers at this thread had bought their notebooks from GenTechPC as they have ready stocks most of the time. Thus, most of us chose to not play the waiting game and directly placed our orders with Ken Lee. laugh.gif

It took 3 days for my package to reach Comgateway from Gentech Pc (once payments were comfirmed)

DHL gave an estimation of 7 days. But we'll see when it'll arrived..
