I plan to observe first. Too much rumors regarding the g53/73jw.

Btw, NBR has mention GenTechPC removed the pre-order page for G73jw after several minutes.. after they opened it. laugh.gif

G73jw spec is almost the same as g73jh but changes are i7 740qm replaced 720qm, and 1.5gb Nvidia GTX 460m GDDR5. Still its unconfirmed.
*
I have asked Ken Lee regarding on this matter and below is the reply from him:

The G73JW and G53JW release date is end of September, we had to remove pre-order page since it violate nVidia rules since their Fermi launch date is September.

I'll let you know more update ETA when I hear from Asus.

Ken

*back to g73 discussion*

A lot of g73 swapped their primary 500gb hdd for ssd. Shouldn't some of us doing that already?
*
Dude . . . don't be serious about our jokes . . . purely for the entertainment purpose of our thread members . . .

As for the SSD, I really plan to swap one of my HDD to SSD. Thus, I will plug my HDD into an external enclosure for the purpose of mobility HDD? laugh.gif Nevertheless, this plan can only be realized as soon as early 2011.

my imagination on them is running wild now tongue.gif..another thing is, maybe we shud get TS to update the thread with G73Jh users or sum1 here go create a new thread!

Asus G73JH: R.O.G. Owner List
Join the Stealth Fighter Crews tongue.gif

then we can list out all the outings that we are gonna have, post some problems and solutions so other users don have to browse through every page. Or maybe even save a slot so we can put other user unboxing moment along with their reviews so other ppl will get poison brows.gif
*
Perhaps you can give it a try to PM the TS . . . ? nod.gif

i still prefer we host up a new thread tongue.gif..we can combine the g73 with the future younger brother g53 brows.gif
*
I don't think that it is a great idea . . . maybe we can wait till this thread reach 2500 posts and then close it and open a new Asus G Series thread including the G73Jh, G73Jw, G53 and etc . . . thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Viperion @ Aug 17 2010, 03:03 AM)
From NBR through an Asus Technical Manager:

QUOTE(Gary Key;6600464)
Update -

1. We are working with AMD on a driver update (10.8 code) that will solve the GSOD problem (non-ASUS drivers) for users with our current vBIOS and BIOS 0209 and up.  I hope to have a release date in the next day or so but the driver has not reached qualification status yet.  However, it is a rock solid solution at this point.
2. I am still working with R&D on a vBIOS update but at this point we still have random (.03%) GSOD occurring depending on driver set, BIOS, and vBIOS combination utilized.  The problem is that using a previous driver set (10.5) with an older BIOS (before 0209) and the new vBIOS could still result in a random GSOD although it is rare.  Also, updating the system with an updated vBIOS before updating the BIOS can create random locks.  So we are still discussing how to roll this solution out, in the meantime option 1 is the safe route.
3.  We are aggressively working on the missing data input issue that has been reported with Synaptics.
4.  I will have some additional information on the TIM reports shortly.

Drool, I can't wait rclxms.gif thumbup.gif rclxm9.gif

TS is back. Add mine too.  rclxms.gif

BTW can anyone suggest good 5.1 surround sound headset to go with this laptop. As cheap as possible.
*
If I'm not mistaken, the cheapest 5.1 gaming headset in the market now is Roccat Kave. Nevertheless, you have to buy an external sound card for better sound quality. biggrin.gif

Thanks Jeffrey1987. I kinda like the desgn of roccat kave too but I already own asus xonar u1 and use it own my old desktop. Its kinda redundant  to buy Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1. Any other suggestion?
*
Besides of Roccat Kave, other 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound gaming headsets are more expensive . . . For instance, Logitech G35, Logitech G930 (new) and etc . . . hmm.gif

Roccat Kave is indeed a VERY good headset..tried it with music + songs really enjoy it a lot. But then as usual, there will always be a problem..wearing it too long makes ur ear hot n sweaty..the controller/equalizer keeps pulling the headset down if you don't settle it down on the table sweat.gif

anyway, the built in sound card in G73 is not that good? hmm guess need to add more stuff to my monster upgrades

TS! would be nice if u update the thread with few of this:

1) Owner List
2) Owner Gathering Date + Successful Gathering (with pics)
3) Problems that can be found in this laptop and Solutions to the problem
4) A list of gear to add up to the monster to make it more "imba" tongue.gif
*
I agree with you. Especially the owner list . . . brows.gif
