Actually, there are quite a numbers of resellers out there but I do recommend you to buy from Ken Lee of GenTechPC. Superb service from him. Just try to google GenTechPC & you will notice it. All the best! Just ask us if you have any further Q.
*
Service is an understatement! Ken actually put my laptop as under warranty, repaired unit and under declare the value so I don't even need to pay the RM 18 customs declaration form tongue.gif I mentioned to him he doesn't need to do it as Malaysia has no duty charges for computer items although I think they did it to save on shipping insurance payment tongue.gif laugh.gif

hey JanqEs,
well its actually pretty simple.
before you order send an email to Ken Lee and tell him you are making an international order (i.e from Malaysia).
The shipping charge to malaysia will be USD149.

They accept bank transfer only for international orders and here is the instructions:

1: Add to cart and proceed to checkout.
2: Choose Pay by Check and just enter 1234 as check number.
3: Once they received your order confirmation they will email you the bank transfer instruction.

The bank transfer email will contain information all the details you will need, I.E, swift code /accnt number/ bank addr/ etc. to make the wire transfer /TT.

After you have sent the wire transfer, you will need to fax / scan a copy of the receipt to gentechPC's billing department. They will be quick to clear it as the case for Viperion and Jef. but for me it took a while to clear.

I guess thats the gist of the process you need to go through.

Check my signature, everything above plus the extended warranty: RM 6400! Could have been RM 6300 but I made the mistake not buying the extended warranty together with the unit. Have to pay another USD 30 for the wire transfer, HAIH! doh.gif oops.gif doh.gif

However even with the mistake I still save a whopping RM 3599! Still worth it I say tongue.gif

This is an advice for future owners. I read through the forums (NBR) and some people said you could buy the extended warranty through Asus. This is actually false because if you call Asus USA they will tell you to buy from the dealer. I thought I could decide later if I wanted the extended warranty and that cost me to waste RM 100. You have been warned so if you want the extra 1 year warranty purchase it with the unit biggrin.gif

Further research:

USD 119.00 is the common price. Any higher is a rip off and lower is obviously better wink.gif

I've just completed my order for my Asus G73JH-A1 with GenTech PC. Ken Lee was really helpful when I called him. I will keep you all posted on their service & the moment my laptop arrives. Here is some useful information for would be future buyers:

1.) Payment is not difficult for Wire Transfer through our local banks. You don't even need an account with the bank. Go to the customer service counter, let them know you want to wire transfer/TT to US and they will give you a form to fill up.

2.) I did my payment through Maybank and I do not have a personal account there.

3.) Maybank service charge is RM 25 on top of the amount you will be sending. Gentech will add USD 30 to your total for their bank fees in the US. Maybank has the cheapest service charge compared to three other banks in my area. (Hong Leong, CIMB & Public Bank). CIMB has the worst TT rates.

4.) I got a surprise free gift from Maybank for using their services. To be honest I did not expect anything after the transaction. Must be my lucky day
viperion is this it?

Seems like our lovely members have replied you, JanqEs. Thus, I believe that I do not have to waste my energy to retype again. laugh.gif

About the opinions on this notebook, I would rate it 98% out of 100%. icon_rolleyes.gif

Great performance notebook I can say but don't take it too seriously or personally as everyone has their own expectations for this machine.

No, it does not have a SPDIF output, only two 3.5mm outputs for audio, one headphones the other speaker. Only other output is HDMI cable for digital audio/video. That guy must have a mutated, prototype unit from Asus or a moron who doesn't know terms but my unit doesn't have SPDIF. Now way you can plug in a Toslink cable anywhere:

My current Asus does label S/PDIF with the 3.5mm audio out.
It requires a special converter according to this forum.

Well if you mean the internal audio cards handles SPDIF signals then I need to check but I bet it can. However there are no standard SPDIF ports in this unit. Trust me, the information provided in this model is abysmal. I can find more information in this thread than all the instruction, warranty, etc. manuals they provided tongue.gif
