well if just say today what we pay/paid to streamyx/p1/maxis/celcom are overprice then the price 10Mbps below RM100 can be considered as the "adjusted fair" price

QUOTE(Wan @ Feb 28 2010, 04:29 PM) 5mbps for rm50? You truly believe that? Not possible unless they are about to offer current streamyx 1mb user at rm10. If not there would be riots. HSBB 5mbps, RM50. 1mbps combo(no HSBB available yet in your area)=RM110. Even if pigs can fly you won't get that price any time soon over here. If they were able to offer us that cheap, they would have done it long ago rather than make us pay between 90-160 for 1mbps-4mbps packages over the years. And think for a second why most new things cost a lot at the beginning before price settles down.. Well, they've blocked torrenting since ages ago. They would do the same too for HSBB I would imagine. As for international bandwidth.. from the screenshots it looks promissing. They can get full speed or close enough for the 20mbps package. Would be different though once it goes live and more people use it.. but it would still be fast enough. When more user using and more user torrent the whole msia HSBB will be slow ;D

Unless everyone subscribes to VPN or something, they won't be able to torrent much although latest utorrent allows that currently. But won't be long before they would block that.

I also believe some pricing 'revealed' in this thread so far is just BS. Come on, it wouldn't cost lower than RM100 for sure. If 10mbps is the lowest package, I will assume that it will cost more than RM150. But I think they will have 5mbps as the baseline. Even that is still much faster than streamyx highest offering.

i believe they will impose fair usage policy. Maybe when reach the limit for the month, maybe the speed will be half of what is subscribed.
Btw, if one use VPN, can TM calculate the bandwidh use by that person ?

The pricing is reasonable.
Now you see the speed is fast because the HSBB lines are only used by a few selected users. They already have dedicated line (separated from Streamyx network) for HSBB currently. As more users subscribe to this service, the bandwidth will be limited. The current bandwidth for international line is about ~200 Gbps. It'll be up to ~400 Gbps next year, hopefully.
So what it means here? It means user won't be able to get max speed for international line (I'd expect around 1mbps during peak hours) And it also means that user won't be able to complaint to TM for service efficiency, that's because the 90% requirement only applies to local servers.
If they apply fair usage policy, VPN will not be able to counteract that. Of course, you'll still get good speed for torrenting, but VPN will not bypass the usage limit.

If there's a lot of torrenters here, then it might save our international bandwidth. More local sharers will mean less international bandwidth usage.
