Wah since my last there in 2007, the price of hawker food suprisingly matched KL liao..previously avg ~ 30bath nia & now 45bath..More expensive than KL avg of RM4!

Got 2 prices. 40bh is biasa one and the 45bh is special one. Got 30bh wan tan mee also, but the serving size is half of the KL size with just few slices of charsiew. These are China town prices.

What a coincidence, we also just got back from BKK last SUN and also stayed in Best Western Mayfair wink.gif

Due to low season, they've upgraded our standard room (THB1000/night) to deluxe room! Best of all, free wifi and internet access in the lobby. I've stayed in Grand Watergate which is a stone throw away from here, and I've gotta say, BWM's breakfast is much much better. The only problem...it's deeper into the dark alleys sad.gif

CentralWorld and BigC closed due to the protests before sad.gif
Gotta walk all the way to Siam Paragon and Discovery for the mall foods.

Everything seems normal and fine, not as pack as before but it's still quite a handful tourists...

Check out http://eatlah.blogspot.com/2010/06/braised...an-noodles.html for the yummy wantan noodles at Soi 19 nearby Platinum. Will be updating few more Thai food posts this coming weeks wink.gif

I was in Chatuchak last Sat morning too. We just browsed the pets area and bought some dog's treats, shirts and accessories. The same dog's treats that I bought in KL can be bought here for half the price.

Kuay Chap. Nice !! 45bh per bowl

What's the name of this fruit ? expensive but delicious. 50bh per bottle

Our room at Best Western in Pratunam. New and clean.

Nice Picture.

D fruit is call pomegranate or buah delima. Very expensive indeed and if the color got onto yr dress lagi teruk. I had it a lot while in India which cost only RM3 for a kg.

M heading to BKK next week n will be staying into 2 hotels...Best western @ 1100THB (booked direct from their website) n cheapest so far for the dates I wanted. Is the BTS near BWM?

And next 2 nites will be at Baiyoke Boutique (anyone stayed in tis hotel before)

Wonder anyone is aware whether Silom Street market is still ON?

Nearest BTS is Rachathewi station and is 1km away from hotel. You can get the BWM tuk tuk to send you to Phethaburi main road and save half the distance. When coming back to hotel, you need a Thai sim card to call the hotel to pick you up at either soi 11, soi 13, soi15 or pratunam. I called BWM to pick me three times at different intersections and the tuk tuk swiftly arrived in 5 min.
Local mobile call rate is very much cheaper than Malaysia, about 1bh/min and calling back to Malaysia using 004 budget prefix is about 5bh/min.

Well, For My Opinion.

The Taxi Also Not That Expensive. Maybe We Have A Group 5 People Sharing.

If U Ride Tuk Tuk, Be Prepare For Dirty Air, And Non AirCon, Risk of Kena Scam.

The slim and quite good looking male staff but hardly smile one ? I gave him tips in USD for carrying our bags and showing us our rooms when we checked in. He served us well.

We were talking about the free Hotel Tuk2 shuttle service, not the commercial tuk2 on the road.

I have two Thai Happy SIM cards to give away free. Sim cards have no more credit and card termination date is 31st August 2010.
The advantage of having these sim cards prior to traveling is that you get to inform your important contacts your temporary Thai contact numbers in Malaysia at local sms cost. Sending sms from Thailand back to Malaysia using Maxi is at RM1/sms.

I'll be going to bkk in 2 weeks time, if i purchase the sim card from you where can I reload? Issit as convenient as our 7-11 or mini mart? Min. reload is 100baht?

thanks... rclxms.gif

Very convenient, there are 7-11 every where in bangkok. China town for instance has 3 or 4 7-11 on the same street. I normally topup at 7-11. minimum top up is 60bh. BTW I am not selling, I give it away FREE, you just pay RM10 to me for my petrol, parking and pos express envelope to send it to you.

I Think No Need For Local Mobile, Unless U Want Call Hotel.

Most Of Thai Fren, Dun Speak English.

Really Difficult To Communicate.

Especially U Look For Taxi, When Ask Them Sent U To Certain Location.

Better to buy thai prepaid simcard.
i bought true move at 49 baht with 25 credit inside
reload available t 20, 50, 90, 10 bahth denominations.
calling back to msia is super cheap 1bht to landline n 3bht to hp
just buy few sim card easy to calo l each other if u are travelling in a group. or call the taxi. but if can buy 12call coz there is a lot promotions by 12call for instance the boat ride or certain outlets have discounts if u are using 12call

like we hired this taxi driver for whole day at 600bht to fetch us from silom to ancient city (350bht), wait till we finish n then fetch us to crocodil farm (300baht) and then carefour for some shopping n dinner n then to watch siam niramit show (900bht). for us 4 its 150bht each that means RM15 only so its pretty worth it to hire a taxi driver for a day...
