Yesterday I just bought Sony a230
But why i cant set the appreture lower than 5.6?
I am using the 18-55mm lens..
Any gor gor / jie jie can Teach me How?
*
the zoom lens will have the min aperture value as stated on the zoom range

like 18-55mm the minimum aperture value was 3.5 on 18mm focal length and the aperture minimum value for 5.6 on 55mm focal length

as F3.5 was only be used on the minimum range at 18mm (once above the range of 18mm will become F4)

I see.
I was not aware of any "trrr" sound and vibration when turning OFF my A550 before. I just notice them last nite... that's why so worried  sad.gif
But the trrrrr sound not long. Just a quick short trrrr and vibration. I guess its normal  unsure.gif
I will try to visit sony shop in KK and try their A550 to see if there's the trrrrr sound and vibration when turning OFF the cam.
I might also bring my A550 to sony service in KK afterwards la

Does these things happen to other alphas too?

hey bro chill

the "trr" was confirm as common issue for A500/A550 series and I did asked before

as you mention but need to check for sure as all the A500/A550 will have the "trr" sound while switching off but only last in between 0.5 until 1 second long

a350 with twin kit lense 18-55 55-200 is worth?
14.2 mpixel .

my friend maybe getting it . or any other recommendation
*
well A350 was hell better way than the new A330, A380 and A230 model

and still depends your friend budget, if the budget was around RM2000~RM2500++, you may get for the Sony A500(not available in official shop) or A550 module

IR illumination ? THere is no IR illumination for SONY camera.
for A550, it should use the flash light for focus assist. U should check in the menu whether u have disable the focus assist light..
*
only those flashgun like some third party flashgun like Sunpak or Sony F38AM,F42AM,F56AM and F58AM has IR illumination assist

erm, lets see, when there're ambient lights, there's this reddish light when im using OVF. I'm not sure wads that is lol, not IR?  biggrin.gif
It works when the surrounding is bright, so i guess, its not off lol.
*
The reddish light? u mean the one inside the OVF? if u mean that one ... that was the AF lights which everytime you get focus ... the OVF segments will lights up into the place you focus....

*
wait for 500mm G Lens (: + x2 teleconverter ... sure can snap it!!

as u said 1/4000 is the faster speed that A550 can reach ...

only A700,A850 and A900 can achieve 1/8000 shutter speed

shooting moon cant really use fast shutter up to 1/4000, what u get will be pitch black! wingster, please go try it out before giving advice.

use a tripod, midrange aperture and a low iso. and dont use the extreme ends of the zoom range.
*
erm I just giving the advise of the fastest shutter speed can going through for A550 and I'm not saying for shooting the moon

My current dilemma is whether I want to get a tamron 1750 or the f58. With the cord, I can get the tamron first.....  rclxms.gif
*
F58 still good pair with 18250 but if you more often for low light without carry bulky flashgun then Tammy 1750 may be you choice I guess biggrin.gif

Nak tanya sikit la...
Do you guys (gals) often meddle with the Drive Modes (ie single shot, continuous shots etc) ?
For example when you go street photography or snapping photo of kids, pets etc... do you usually use continuous shots ?

Im coming from film photography background still finding it "uncomfortable" to use multiple shots... feel like "alahai, sayang nya nak buang filem negatif" ... that is why I usually use just the "single shot mode".

Also, when you shoot say street photography or pets/children... usually how many shots do you take for one scene ?
*
for street photography ... single shot was good to go for me =/ as you can adjust your dial and setting correctly and then shot rather than spam shooting ?

continuous shooting I found much using on some event like having some action scene or sports

Thanks for sharing your experience achew & wingster.

I feel that Im at this junction of keeping to the old school culture of "always shooting in single mode" (and not filling up my MemoryStick quickly) and being more courageous and explore "multiple/continuous shots" style...  unsure.gif

Ive tried shooting kids... and somehow Im not getting the desired expression/attitude/pose that I usually see from others beautiful photos.  unsure.gif  sad.gif
*
hmm..... for A550 ... well I guess just spam it hence this is what you brought A550 for >.< although the shutter priority sounds like the 'machine gun' that makes people thinks that it will overburn the camera if you abuse it XD
In my perspective the usage for single shot was taking statical object while continuous shooting for some action or the picky moment you doesn't want to miss it =/

My Sony salesman told me you can use the spectacles cloth too.

On the day I bought my lens, there was a bit of stain on the lens, must be his saliva from talking too much  laugh.gif

I asked him to clean it but he said he didn't have the appropriate cloth. Then he said, never mind, he went to the spectacle shop next door and bought a RM5 microfiber cloth for spectacles and cleaned the lens. The cleaning FOC and the cloth also FOC......  rclxms.gif

hehe yeah is better to get a cleaning lens tool ... like this ..
