QUOTE(soulquarianz @ Feb 23 2010, 03:29 PM) if normal drama comedy its ok..no problem with 1080p....no lag at all. The TrendNet is 150Mbps or 300Mbps ?but once u start playing movie with a lot of movement then u can see the lagging and stuttering.. i'm using trendnet wireless usb dongle anyway Added on February 23, 2010, 3:31 pm 2901 is buggy...suggest u revert to 2388 firmware, much more stable Added on February 23, 2010, 3:32 pm if not mistaken the dongle cost rm100 plus. but u can find compatible dongle such as trendnet which cost only rm70 only |

QUOTE(BoxBuilder @ Mar 4 2010, 01:11 PM) Yes, it is. With cradle, the dongle won't block the other USB host. And place the cradle on top of POHD, the transimmison and receiving is better, of course. Or you can hide the dongle to have a good view of POHD. Wonder where to get for the best price? Viewnet again? |

QUOTE(BoxBuilder @ Mar 5 2010, 08:59 AM) Yes. You are right! How about streaming via LAN, will it be able to play with bitrate more than 13mbps?Added on March 5, 2010, 9:02 am Pls use n router. To play HD files smoothly via wireless, it is not the resolution but bitrate factor. If your 1080p files bitrate below 13Mbps, it can play smoothly. The max we have tested POHD can go for wireless n is 13Mbps. Cheers! |

QUOTE(BoxBuilder @ Mar 5 2010, 01:13 PM) Yes. Max you can go is 25Mbps In that case, I think I will just hook it up using LAN instead of buying the Wifi N dongle since it is not really giving the 300mbps bandwidthAdded on March 5, 2010, 1:17 pm What I meant is the actual rate you can achieve, not ideal case. Like USB2.0 transfer rate stated is 480Mbps but it will never achieve. As you know, normal USB2.0 rate is about 25Mbps it can reach. Added on March 5, 2010, 1:18 pm 25Mbps as stated above. POHD network is 10/100. |

But I think to achieve higher bitrate, the network should be end to end with 100mbps? meaning POHD -> router -> laptop/NAS must be in 100mbps. if only POHD to the router in 100mbps but the router to the laptop/NAS only 54mbps, the performance will still be the same if using the wifi dongle right?

QUOTE(richard912 @ Mar 5 2010, 05:41 PM) From my experience, streaming 1080p and some 720p contents with 25mbps frame rates over 100Mbps LAN encountered jerkyness even with HDD installed on my POHD. Switching over to UPnP, playback was smooth like baby's backside even without the HDD installed. What UPnP server are you using? Are you using a hardware UPnP or software installed on Windows 7 ?Just my 2 sen contribution |
