I went for waxing with anti-static coating ... 3months warranty only and cost me RM140 ... actually in long term glow with 5yrs warranty is really worth it. If it opens in Penang, i will be the top 10 customer for sure biggrin.gif

U just make me want to ask another noob question, what is "majong letters/numbers"? hmm.gif
Anyway, nice plate u have there, where did u do it bro? How much?
*
Thanks bro ... actually here in Penang they called it majong type letters/numbers which is not the cheaper flat and wider type. I changed both the front at back for RM40 and the shop is at Lorong Hijau 4, green lane area. The back one i use back the original frame, missed out the back photo just now ...

I think the full back number plate will be better than the small frame...
*
Actually i wanted that at first (something like Civic/City) since the shop can custom cut for me, but dont know whether there will be too much black plastic cos my number has 3 digits only ... so stick to the frame. BTW, anyone has changed to full back plate please share the photos and make us drool.gif

I thought the ESC suppose to kick in when the car going-to skid, it will balance back my cornering.. but it didnt happen... i had to manually brake..
*
Bro, please do not try the ESC that way ... why? ... cos you are suppose to look at the road when u take sharp corner at 110KM/h and not on the meter to see if ESC is blinking ... to me ESC is almost like an airbag ... hope that i never have to use it and its for emergency only nod.gif

Sounds good.. another option for me.  rclxms.gif  A question for folks who tinted..
1) Do you tint on top of stock tint or they will remove all first??
2) Any idea what is the spec for the Forte 1.6 Sx stock tint??
3) Also how to check the quality of workmanship. My stock tint no bubbles when dry bu when I wipe the tinted internal windows with water,
I will actually see where it isn't fully glued, like lines, round finger pressure, etc that ISN'T visible when dry.. Do you guys see this with your tint?
Does that mean in time, those spots will come undone with ugly lines/bubbles??  shocking.gif
4) For those who tinted cars before, how long max before discoloration/bubbles/lines happen. Read most film warranty 5 yrs as thats when it happens. Don't want to retint every 5 years..$$  rclxub.gif

Appreciate any other tinting comments from those who's done it before.. All my ex cars are untinted so stock tint already good enough for me if not for heat!!!
If not for hot Msian weather, another option would be tint only when Forte stock tint goes!!  tongue.gif
*
Bro, the stock tint is built in the glass ... u no need to remove and cannot be removed when go for tinting. I have the same fear as well, as i prepare to drive my forte for at least 7 yrs ... thats why i went for Wingard Royale with 10yrs warranty smile.gif ... PM me for the price if u r interest smile.gif

Plan to buy Kia Forte 1.6SX.  hmm.gif
But wonder will face any stock to delivery problems in this stage??  sweat.gif
Just call to the Sales Centre in HQ (Jalan Pahang), they inform say they got stock leave.
Actually plan to buy Toyota Vios or Honda City or Used Honda Civic
Please advice in term of:-  notworthy.gif

(i) Fuel Consumption
(ii) Spare Part (Replace Smart Keys/ Gear Box/ Timing Belt and etc)
** I heard the replacement of the smart keys cost few thousands, it is true??
(iii) Resell Value
(iv) Service Provided Quality After Purchase
(v) Any discount will be given/ freebies ??  thumbup.gif
Thanks in advance!! First time try KIA cars...  Paiseh!!  icon_question.gif
*
i) My FC is around 9-10L/100KM for 90% jam or city drive and 10% highway. A lot in KL is getting 8.5 to 9L/KM.
ii) Spare part should be around the same price as city and not more expensive than civic ... but no one actually knows as the car is still under warranty and none break down yet (touch wood biggrin.gif)
iii) Resale value ... you can get a 2 months old 1.6SX for RM60k drool.gif ... hahaha just kidding tongue.gif ... i dont think the resale value will not be as bad as Spectra and at this point of time, no one knows as there is no Forte in the 2nd hand car market.
iV) Go to the highly recommended SC by the members here and you should be fine.
v) No discount so far, but depending on SA and dealer ... some get free full tank, door visors, emblems, car mat or etc. As for my case got free emblem only.

Best Wax for Your Forte!?

I think a lot of Forte members not from KL (cos Sierra Glow and PPS only available in KL) will have this question in mind ... "What's the best wax for my Forte?" ... I had the same question and did a lot of reading online lately and found that the two wax below should be among the best in terms of brand name(reliability), quality(shine, UV & water bead), long lasting (2-3months) and ease of application (no back/arm ache after waxing and not white residual on rubber surface biggrin.gif) and here you go:

Meguiar's - NXT GENERATION TECH WAX® 2.0 (Liquid Wax NOT Paste)
More Info - http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_deta...p?T1=MEG+G12718
Price - Around RM110+ (I saw it in Parkson, but not all Parkson has it) a bottle. 1 bottle sould be enough for at least 5 application or last for 1 - 2 yrs if you wax once a quater.

Turtle Wax - ICE LIQUID POLISH (Liquid Wax NOT Paste)
More Info - http://www.turtlewax.com/main.taf?p=2,1,1,1
Price - Around RM110+ (I saw it in Jusco) a bottle. 1 bottle sould be enough for at least 5 application or last for 1 - 2 yrs if you wax once a quater.

I have not tested any cos i got my 1st waxing done at a car detailing shop here in Penang in January ... i think i will go for Meguiar's when my car is due for waxing in April or May ... hope the above info helps and if you have any experience with the wax above, please share you experience with us ya smile.gif

FYI

PPS SG & Nanocoat are NOT WAX or POLISH product.
they are a type to nanotech polymer coating with Teflon properties.
very much different from wax or polish.

Yup i am fully aware of that bro, but too bad we dont have that in Penang so have to plan and DIY wax lo sad.gif

Thanks a lot in advance bro!!! rclxms.gif really wish that there is a shop here in Penang doing the same nano coating with the same price in KL ... Frankly, i lazy to wax myself lor hehehe biggrin.gif ... on the other hand, cannot aford to pay the car detailing shop to wax the Forte for me once a quarter and sayang my Forte very much ... so if no affordable coating, then have to DIY wax ... so far found Turtle Wax is the easiest was ... based on reviews only 10mins to complete the whole car, just nice for lazy person like me hehe tongue.gif

How long does it take to complete the whole process of waxing? Cos am looking for the easiest and fastest wax. i tried the normal paste wax 3yrs ago on my Spectra and the next day back, hands, every where ache, so must ensure its a liquid wax that is easy to wax blush.gif

*
RM93800 to be exact biggrin.gif ... well, if the price for Sonata is within budget, its definitely a good car to consider and should be on top of your next car wish list (beats Camry and Accord anytime in terms of looks, features and price) ... initially I was think of waiting for Sonata to launch (saw the photos of the 1st launch in Korea and really beh tahan) but i thought that it might only come to MY in 2011 so got my Forte 1.6SX and good also get to save 30-40k.

Best Interior and UV Protectant for you Forte!

Someone asked me before what did i use to protect my dashboard ... my answer was "I dont know wor" as ii have read that some bad protectants might end up making ur dashboard crack ... well, i did a lot of reading online last month and finally bought 303 Aerospace Protectant (highly recommended by many reviewers and manufacturers) which protects everything that made of plastic & rubber from UV and actually my main concern it to protect the headlights. Spectra headlights will normally get "blur" after 2 years and it costs RM400 per headlight (Forte's will definitely cost a lot more). I dont think i want to find out whether Forte's headlight will become blur after two years, so better protect it ASAP. You may read more info about the product here http://www.303products.com/ . It costs me around RM75 per 8oz bottle from ebay. Dont think we can find it here in Malaysia ... the only dealer in PJ just got removed from the 303 official dealer list

I applied 303 on my interior (dashboard, door panels, front arm rest, 3rd breaklight panel, steering & almost anything that is made of plastic, rubber or leather) as well as exterior (mud guards, front and rear bottom plastic trim, tires & rims, number plate holder and of course head and tail lights). Its liquid base and very easy to apply and the best part is that its not greasy/oily or too shinny after applying and gives you the "new look and feel". Actually i has cleaning function as well ... it removed the tape mark on my door panels (i put additional tape on the power window buttons when i did my tinting, the one that pasted by the installer went off without any mark, but that one i put on leaves some mark on the panel) and also the white wax mark on the bottom plastic trim of my rear bumper. Well, will it last ... it claims that it lasts longer than its competitors, but since i have not used other brands, i cant comment on this part, but from my own experience, after 2 weeks of applying on the dashboard, the dashboard still look new and as if that i have just applied 303. As for the exterior, my tires still look new after applying 303 for 1 week (went through 2 rains and 8 full days of sunshine without shade).

Pros: Easy to apply, no smell, not oily or greasy, not too shinny, gives new look and feel.
Cons: Quite expensive and difficult to get.

Yup it works on tire too ... well i think no harm putting on your headlight now just not to increase the UV damage. I am not too sure whether it will make it better. BTW, here is more info on 303 & headlights http://www.303products.com/shop303/index.c...ts-brighter.cfm ... hope that helps.

Nop, the external is exactly the same as 1.6SX ... they didn't install the "stick" only and the antenna is eactly the same as 1.6SX.

I got mine for around RM620 all in (+shipping +taxes +installation) ... i will shoot some photos and share with the rest the look and also the performance. Frankly, the sharkfin does not perform as good as the stock antenna, i will test for a few more days and share with you guys my experience.

Bro bbear and KFC, i would totally agree with you ... cos of taxes and installation, the price increases from around RM500 to RM620 sad.gif ... i hand itchy and bought it before i got my Forte ... i would say NOT WORTH it for the price i paid cos not so good reception cos its meant for Korean with different radio frequency band (now i cant listen to 92.5 and 91.0 and 92.8 not as clear as with the stock antenna). Well, i will test for a few days and share with u guys my view so that those going for this will be prepared. But, this would be my last mod for the moment ... now my Forte looks exactly like the original ones in Korea biggrin.gif

KFC, for the benefit of all, please make the mold so that the rest dont have to experience poorer reception after changing the antenna biggrin.gif
