Bro, u didnt ask the owner where did he get the antenna ah? is it a cover or an antenna? mine in not a cover but one to one antenna replacement imported from Korea ... well, it states clearly that it doesn't cover our frequency band, so sad to say that the performance is not as good as the stock one

If the owner's is better and cheaper, you guys can start a griup buy then

Bro, then go for it, i think its a cover, which i think is a lot better cos no need to dismantle the housing and dont worry that water might go into the whole if not patched up properly. But i think mine looks a bit different from the one in photo.

Bro, if the window is not broken, i dont think you can break it from the inside even without any tinting. BTW, the front windscreen is without security tint.

Finally, the Forte Sharfin Antenna!

I wanted the sharkfin antenna even before i booked my forte cos the ads in Korea all show the Forte with sharkfin antenna. This is actually the first mod that i bought but got stuck in Custom for 2 months ... got it cleared last week and finally installed it. It is not an original Hyundai Mobis antenna and an after market by a Korean company (Made in Korea with good quality, good paint job and gold plated connections) and it fits nicely and looks cool to me It took approx. 3 hours to install it as the stock antenna needs to be removed and the hole on the roof has to be properly patched up and then it involves some wiring work as well. I did it at Meng's Accessories shop in Butterworth (Bagan Ajam). The workmanship of Alex is good and after a few days of rain, no leaking noted. As the antenna is actually for Korean market that covers different radio frequency band, it does not perform as good as it looks. Well, just a rough estimate after one week of using it, if stock antenna gives 10 points for the following channels, the sharkfin antenna delivers:

92.8 (Hitz FM) - 7 to 8 points
91.0 (Mix FM) - 7 points
107.6 (Red FM) - 9 points
92.5 (I FM) - 2 points (yes, cannot really listen to this channel now )
94.5 (988) - 9 points
99.7 (MY FM) - 7 to 8 points

I paid approx. RM620 for the antenna, taxes and installation. Definitely too expensive for an antenna that doesn't perform as good as the stock antenna. But my Forte looks 20% sportier now

Pros: Sportier look
Cons: Way too expensive, RM300 is reasonable. The reception is not as good as the stock antenna. Risk of leaking water on the roof if the hole isn't patched up nicely.
Suggestion: If u plan to get the sharkfin antenna, wait for the original one, which should perform better than this one and i think cost much lesser.

Nop, all with the stick antenna

I bought the door courtesy light from eBay few weeks ago and was planning to DIY, but i dont think i am good at wiring and did it at the installer when i got my sharkfin antenna installed. Well, it comes with 9 very bright LED and fits nicely to the ready cover. No double sided tape is required. If you are wondering how bright is the LED, its as bright as the tail light! (refer to the attached photo that i switched on the tail light at daytime and you can still see the LED) My installer tap the wire to the door opening wire, whenever the door is opened, the light will auto go on. Can i turn this feature off? Nope, unless u tap the wire from the center dome light, which i think i supposed to ask the installer to do.

Pros: 1. Very bright and good to light up you steps when you open the door in a very dark area. 2. It will alert the car coming from the back when you open the door. 3. The front passangers will notice the door is not fully closed cos of the bright light.
Cons: None actually.

i got it from ebay i think around USD30+ including shipping. I installed it at the same place (Meng's Accessories) that i installed the sharkfin antenna. The workmanship of Alex who did my antenna for me is a lot better than the one who installed the courtesy light ... i would give him 6/10 cos left a few scratches here and there

Added on March 14, 2010, 7:32 pmWell, it all depends on the demand ... if the demand from now till 5 yrs later is good, say waiting list of 3 months or so even after a few years ... then the resale value will be good. Naza can throw in the 5yrs warranty if they want to increase or maintain the resale value. On the other hand, Naza can slash the price and the resale value will go down the drain like Spectra. Too many things can happen in 5yrs time ... if you plan to drive it for the next 7 years, then you dont have to worry too much about the resale value cos you are paying a lot lesser to start with (if you are comparing with nissan/honda/toyota 2.0 cars).
