If u melt one yogurt drop into hpw and she refuse to eat the hpw, then cut down the yogurt drop into half...

Jus make sure your situation now is ok for you to keep gliders.. They are not toys, u cant jus get them becoz u like them, then kick them away when u are in certain situation..

If you think u might be very bz for career/bz with girlfren/boyfren/outstation very often/motherfathersisterbrotherauntieuncle don like or etc etc, then think twice b4 getting them. smile.gif

Do you all ever thought of why SG so easily sleep on our body a? I thought is like us human if really lack of sleep can doze off anywhere.
*
I think rarely any of our glider will really lack of sleep, since they normally sleep whole day long. Unless your glider is feeling so stressful and stay alert for one whole day..

If you said they are over active until too tired then collapsed, i think this is not really make sense because in wild their exercise level is much much higher than captive glider..so their body shud be able to cope with the activity level...

I would prefer to look at this act (sleeping on ur palm) as one of the indicator that the glider is started to establish good rapport and trust towards the person. They are gliders, which always stay alert and high sensitive to sounds/smells at the surrounding.. If they can sleep soundly on ur palm, i think the glider is feeling pretty secure to be with u... thumbup.gif

i'm quite worried about my suggie nails also. dah panjang , i can't trim it because she's damn hyper. and now she's scratching herself until the fur jatuh. got a bit botak place under her armpit
*
If she is having hair dropping problem, u hav to find out the reason that makes her overgrooming.. If it's because of mites, she will hav to go for 2-3 injections...

Actually you don hv to take the glider out and trim their nails, most of the time they wont stand still and let u trim... Put the glider inside a bonding/sleeping pouch, cover their face and then pull their leg out one by one and trim.. It's much easier because they wont be that stressful if they don see u holding the nail clipper...

the problem is , everytime i did that (pulling her legs after i covered her head with clothes) she'll sneak out and see. then look at me with 1 kind of expression , 'dude , why are you pulling my legs for?' LOL
*
You have to hold their head firmly, put bit force so the head wont move..

Yea, she open during weekend too.

Erm... i think blogging and taking care of glider properly are different kind of issue.. Of course, i'm agreed with emino, people who do not write blog doesn't mean they don't care bout their gliders.

As a good glider owner, our fundamental job and responsibility is to take good care of our gliders, make sure we provide the sufficient and correct diet, housing, care and etc..

However, for those who put in effort to write blogs, are actually trying to spread more information and knowledge to the public regard the proper way of keeping sugar glider. This is not involving our individual own glider but the whole sugar glider community. They aren't only care bout their own glider, but others as well. smile.gif

And everyone of us who share information here, who keep track in different forums, those petshops like petshack who selling and provides glider products and more and more also contributing to the whole glider community.

Today, there are more and more people who are aware of the proper way of keeping this little cute creatures, we should feel proud of ourselves, because the little effort that everyone of us contribute has lead to what happening today..

So, keep it up everyone~

that hpw is to be serve like ice cream or wait the thing melt first? just got my hpw starter kit today , haha
*
U nid to scrap it and leave it inside the plate/bowl for 1-2 minutes...then it will melt and turns into room temperature.. After that, u can serve to ur gliders.

What i do every time is i scrap the hpw, then go and cut fruits/vege, after finish then can serve both together. smile.gif

so pity with the son... he so lonely.. he need friend.
Now i need to find his friend. But i dun have many budget la..

Sad for ur loss. But i hav to agree that, is ur fault.

Lesson of the day for everyone: Do not ever keep your glider OUTDOOR. Too much accidents may happen, even if your glider don escape, there might be a stray cat jump in and kill ur glider - even the cage door is closed. It happened before where someone glider got killed, even the cat jus scratch the sleeping pouch from outside of the cage. Not only that, keeping glider outdoor not only expose ur glider to higher risk, but also very stressful condition.. Extreme temperature changes, Noisy sound from traffic, Different smell and etc- either one can really distress the glider.

One thing i would like to ask, why cant suggies stay outdoor? they live in the wild with rain, sun and high humidity. I know the noise pollution is alien for them, but if it is a quiet place then ?
*
The survival instinct and ability is different for captived glider and wild gliders. They are now being pets, which means pampered and spoiled. tongue.gif

QUOTE(emino @ Jun 9 2010, 11:41 PM)
In the wild also theres snakes, wildcats, tigers, eagle etc. Not to mention over exposure to rain, sun and many more natural disaster.

Sure, our outdoors is not the wild. But still, theres risk of over exposure to the weather, pesticide, cats, snakes, dogs, centipede, rats (those big, fierce KL kind), crows, stupid neighbor who cant resist to throw rocks and poke at them and many more.

There is a reason why gliders lives longer in captivity, with proper diet and care. In the wild, their average lifespan is only 4 years, and not all make it in their first year as well.
*
Yea. Nobody prepare well balanced diet for wild gliders everyday, nobody will keep them in a safe shelter, nobody protect them from predator, and nobody bring them to c doctor when they are sick. That's y, there are alot captive pet has longer lifespan than wild animal.

*
Of course they will, they are animal.. they don hv the idea of morality where shouldnt mate with their family... in their word, there is no 'wife' 'son' 'daughter' 'husband' and etc...

You are asking this ques, seem like not fully research bout glider breeding yet.. Make sure u read up more..

beside ayam penyek, along jalan cecawi 6 turn in when u see a 99 speedmart, the clinic is jz at the same row of shoplot..
*
I assume u are at LDP (highway beside One Utama), turn left the the junction as if u wanna go The Curve/Ikea.. Then go into the tunnel, then go straight further until u see Giza Sunway Mall on ur right. Turn right at the cross junction at Giza, then go str8 until u see a mosque on ur left.. Further up after the mosque u will see some shop lots on ur left- MyVet Clinic is located at one of the shop lot.

QUOTE(yueyi5730 @ Jun 13 2010, 08:31 AM)
why must seperate the babies from the parents after 2 months oop?
sugar glider are colony animals they like to stay in a group...only things is that more gliders means require more space hence need a bigger cage...in breeding should be prevented by neutering..if you are keeping the babies yourself i dont see why u should seperate unless u are selling them so u want them to get used to be alone away from it's parents
*
Yea they are colony is true. What i meant is if the owner are not going to neuter the male gliders in the so called colony, then u will have to seperate them. We do not wan to see offspring from inbreeding or two innate male fight badly to be alpha in the colony.

Jitshiong is right, normally the father will be the alpha. However it's possible that both the male will fight when the male joey are fully matured. We normally don encourage people to put two or more innate male in a cage with other female.
