What sort of documents or proof does Belkin need in order to process the claim? Do you need to bring the spoiled item to show them?
If you have receipt, that is good. If you don't have, they follow market price. You need to bring the spoil surge protector and the spoil item. They need to check the genuie problem.
Example my case: Surge protector spoil and the modem. Since I need to use modem urgent, I go and buy new 1. Than bring the 2 spoil item to claim. And tell them my story. Since I already brought the modem, they pay back me by money but market price according to that model.
My second case: Surge protector spoil but the laptop adaptor ok. (the 3pin plug have some melt point and carbon). I bring this 2 item to belkin and told them my story. Even the adaptor is ok, but I still bring it to them incase they want to investigate. I claim back the surge protector.

it's not about over-voltage why they recommend you to use AVR for lighting.. it's because of isolation.. being blocked by a Transformer inside.. kong also primary side windings..
if use surge protector , the equipment is always connected to mains powerline, then it rely on the Varistors to short it to ground...
You much understand what AVR purpose. The inside component still won't protect the lightning. I ve 4 pcs AVR. Some using combine with surge protector. Depend the sensitive of my component. Surge protector first than AVR. If you using AVR for lightning, I rather trust surge protector.
The AVR is good during minight time when the high voltage fluctuation alot. Maybe too many aircon running in my housing area. Cause I can hear my AVR working hard during minight.
