Hi,

Just to share some of my experience. I am using Belkin surge protector and it got up to RM10,000 coverage. My PC, modem and wifi was connected to it and 1 day, lightning strike, MotherBoard, modem and wifi gone case... and it is claimable from Belkin service center. it is best that you keep your receipt for those electrical item. They will replace the belkin surge protector 1 to 1 exchange... so i will recommend Belkin smile.gif

How long did it take for them to process your claim? They give you back the full cost of the motherboard, modem and wifi?

I recommend Belkin. I m using belkin for AV and modem, server and PC. So far AV side no problem. But I ve claim 2x for the modem, server and pc side.

First time lightning strike phone line and fried my modem but safe my laptop. Claim back the belkin surge protector and two week later, collect cheque for the modem. Cause I already brought the modem. So they pay back cash for me.

Second time just happen 3days ago. All item safe but the surge protector kong. Claim back 1 to 1 exchange.

My modem and server ON for 24hr. So protection and warranty is important to me.

What sort of documents or proof does Belkin need in order to process the claim? Do you need to bring the spoiled item to show them?

acterly I dun use the AVR (was just stating the issue that it has a giant transformer inside), I use APC 750VA UPS with provides isolation from mains...

anyway better open up your surge protector to see what is in side the thing, if just Varistors then it's not good enuf, minimum you also need GDT working in tandem with Varistor.. the DIN rail surge protectors I have use both these inside.. not sure the commercial power strips have this..

I think the common surge protectors only use MOVs. Where did you get yours with the additional GDT? Is it much more expensive?

I'm not convenient with their T&C. need to pay for RM25 if want to claim warranty 1-to1 exchange.
and the support specialist are not friendly too, or maybe said that their writing skill not politely....

Correct, they do not replace the unit FOC. Have to pay RM25 and they provide you a new one. That's how they work, I'm aware of that and I'm ok with the policy.
