PhysX is one of the features of GeForce cards written with NV's CUDA... simply speaking, PhysX allows in-game physics to be calculated by the GPU instead of the CPU for real-time and more realistic effects...
eg of games that support PhysX are Mirror's Edge and Borderlands... PhysX can be ran on any NV GPU thay supports CUDA, ie GPU running on the Unified Streaming Processors architecture, to in layman's term, GeForce 8 or later... This post has been edited by astria: Feb 4 2010, 12:37 AM |

QUOTE(wanttobuylaptop @ Feb 4 2010, 12:58 AM) i love the layman term part yup, PhysX would stress the GPU more, so NV has shut it down for cards with less than 32SP, or 256MB RAM, or both... (aka min would be GT 220M, GT120M, 9500M GS and 8600M GT for each generation of cards)so i just have to enable it on the game config or nvidia config center? based on the explanation, PhysX seems to be stress GPU even more... it's enabled by default, and u can disable it at the NV Control Panel... |

@want: u using what laptop again? and which driver? iirc DoX's driver by default don have physX one..maybe if u are using it, that's why GPU-Z shows disabled...u can try download it from NV site
btw: it's monza, *ahem ahem* not mia, and he is always that early..haha Added on February 4, 2010, 9:26 amwow...today check my siggy here, then only notice my folding score raise till 1.8k liao..hehe.. too bad today slightly overslept, no time turn on laptop..hehe, saturday i fold both laptop and desktop..hehehe This post has been edited by BBXiong: Feb 4 2010, 09:26 AM |

guys, since now the m11x has launched, the gpu is superb, but the processor is..
but overall, will it be better than s57? p8700, 4650 vs Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor SU7300 (1.3GHz/800MHz FSB/3M Cache), gt335M |

lol i think i stole from someone else last time also...so go ahead..i even forgot to change my CPU model until 2-3 weeks later suddenly notice lol
actually can use physx also with DoX's driver, just need to download the physx software driver from official site and install it, can download separately one... |

32SP is juz too weak for both graphic and PhysX...
Added on February 4, 2010, 9:41 amanyway, u can grab PhysX driver from LV2G as well... they have separated it from the Forceware... This post has been edited by astria: Feb 4 2010, 09:41 AM |

yeah...our card is not barely powerful to be a physx dedicated subcard(means just calculate physx only), let alone rendering both physx claculation and graphics together..

QUOTE(evolution120 @ Feb 4 2010, 09:27 AM) guys, since now the m11x has launched, the gpu is superb, but the processor is.. Hmm..would the cpu become the bottleneck? with the lower clock speed and lower FSB...And that should be the bottleneck for the DDR3 RAM as well...1366x768 on 11 inch would make the characters all very small....But it's impressive how the manage to squeeze all that into a small machine...the GT335 should be so where near 4650/4670?but overall, will it be better than s57? p8700, 4650 vs Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor SU7300 (1.3GHz/800MHz FSB/3M Cache), gt335M |

that alienware, for now, it would be CPU bottlenecked, but in the future, it will not..as games move more and more to GPU, and also, with OpenCL existing and look promising, GPU can also help in general processing, so CPU would have far less task in future gaming
