Usually all those modded ones are not 'Digitally Signed' and should be no problem as all are the same, just that those with 'Digitally Signed' are recognized by Microsoft

QUOTE(miahahaha @ Mar 15 2010, 08:51 AM) Usually all those modded ones are not 'Digitally Signed' and should be no problem as all are the same, just that those with 'Digitally Signed' are recognized by Microsoft Then what else should I do? QUOTE Work Around 1 -Reboot system -On boot go into advanced boot options by tapping F8 repeatedly -Choose disable driver signiture enforement -The drivers should now work as it should In this method you have to keep doing this after every reboot. But this is a good way to see whether the drivers will work on your system without much effort. Work Around 2 MAKE SURE YOU TURN UAC OFF BEFORE DOING THIS! -Download Driver Signiture Enforcement Overidder -Run the program -Select "EnableTest Mode" and follow on screen instructions -Reboot your system and you will see test mode on the four corners of your desktop -Open the program again and click "Sign a System File" -Browse to these: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\nvlddmkm.sys C:\Windows\System32\drivers\igdkmd64.sys you'll need to sign both of them -Select "Exit" and reboot -Drivers should now work as it should. To remove the watermark use This for windows 7 Make sure you select program to run as admin, press R and reboot. With this workaround you dont need to keep pressing F8 each time to disable the microsoft driver enforcement. |

even if i can, i believe the 2nd SO-DIMM slot has been soldered, and that means a change of mobo in order to have 2 slots...
no thx, that defeats the purpose of being an ultra cheap, ultra portable netbook.... |

@joshua: did u downloaded the patch file and apply kah? nautis written a patch for 195.62 liao, and if case is the same as the past, it should work fine..but need to use manual installation
and driver signature doesnt really matter after u disable the driver signature enforement...driver signature is just a way that windows protect users from being harmed by suspicious drivers that is up to no good...and because DoX's driver is modded, there is no way for him to get a digital signature for it, so u must disable to driver enforcement to make windows allow his driver to run, that's all...blank screen is not related to the signature thing Added on March 15, 2010, 11:47 amlast time also i got 1 time that my 195.62 is success on DoX's update(x86 one i think), but got 1 time, i off my s42 with intel card, boot up again, cannot switch graphic card liao...after that, the driver just stop working already...haizz... so that time i got pissed off, straight away format to XP + flash bios then change back to W7 and just stick with generic driver... actually if most of the time(like me) ur laptop is sit at home, using as torrent PC or folding PC, no need 4 hours battery life la..... 4 hours battery life is for ppl bring here bring there and wanna surf net in random place with wifi or something nia This post has been edited by BBXiong: Mar 15 2010, 11:47 AM |

The bios I am having now is the default one.. 1.20 right?? I dont seem to be able to install 195.62 on my s42.. opted for 185.85 and it works like charm.. but the problem i am having now is Dirt 2 crashes when I change the settings.. Any idea whats wrong with it?? and btw.. should I update my intel chipset driver.. and the GMA thru windows update?? will it affect the 9600gt as well? |

oh..
i prefer lower heat actually.. yeap.. i did replace the patch by nautis during installation.. a clean reformat and install works but after reboot the switch doesnt work at all.. stays at 9600gt.. and from device manager 9600gt is not there anymore.. right.. now my intel driver is having something wrong.. on the settings thigny.. it says can't find requested string.. everything.. basically, i cant set my intel graphics properties.. but well.. its not much of a use right?? everything seems fine to me but the thing now is the dirt 2 thats troubling me.. app crash.. btw.. should i update my chipset?? how to know its not the display driver?? |

Well, i must say one thing, mine also like BBX, now using V3.06 BIOS which disabled the Intel card, running on Dox modded 195.62 driver, the temp is 57C in air-con room and 62~63C in normal temp room...which i think is already good enough
With Intel card, you won't feel heat at all as the card doesn't generated heat much |

oh that one...actually i forgot to mention something
for 185.85 installation, you will need to update the intel driver using windows online update BEFORE you install the 185.85...at least i remember that one solves it... you can try: remove your driver(and clean it after wards using driver sweep), go back to windows, update your intel card driver online, reboot, then install 185.85 again but i don suggest you to do that la, after all, how often do you wanna access intel control panel? |
