Recently I just got myself a 3GS from Maxis via their i-Value subscription plan. I just switched from an E71 that has a much longer battery standby time that lasts up to 192 hours (8 days). I changed not because E71 is lousy (it's a slick phone btw) but because of the promotional package offered by Maxis that attracted me and also I could sync my iTunes and Quicktime with my 3GS.

Whenever I talk on the phone for like 10 minutes a day on average, send/receive sms's, chat on PingLite! (let alone browsing the web, downloading stuff, playing games and listening to songs from iTunes), the battery lifespan can even be as short as 24 hours which is ridiculous. I have to charge my iPhone every other day if not everyday. I then called up Maxis to query them what actually is wrong with the battery and if there's anything wrong with the production line that manufactured this batch of phones. They said this so-called battery lifespan problem is normal which frustrated me even more. At least if they said it's abnormal, then I could send my phone back for servicing or replacement if necessary. Plus if the battery could be replaced to a better one, then it would have just solved all the problem but hell no since it is built-in.

I am just wondering if anyone of you who currently owns a 3GS experiences this problem? I don't want to regret changing phone this time round as I have always been regretting. If I were to change from a 3GS to something else, would an E72 be an ideal replacement?

Yeah, I know I'm pretty screwed this time cuz I hardly even browse the web. Not to mention listening to my iTunes mp3, downloading games, movies, and all. Despite this, I have to charge it everyday. I mean if you do those mentioned bandwidth intensive stuff, how can one expect the battery lifespan to last more than 8 hours? What about those people who are always on the run? Do they have a portable charger with them or something like that?

Added on January 30, 2010, 12:28 pmCould it be because our 3GS phones are assembled in China? Another QA/QC issue here? Do you have friends from the US who is also experiencing this battery issue?
