hi, my budget is around RM4k
im using my laptop mostly for homework, streaming, movie and sometimes video and photo editing. I kinda multi-task quite a bit.
have been looking at the following models:
vaio VPCCW26FG
hp pavilion dv4-2120tx
any comments or other suggestions? smile.gif

thanks!

The Vaio CW26 would be better choice of those two, its one of the best performance available in 14'' region, plus it has higher resolution smile.gif
Since you're into video and doesn't really need that much of powerful graphic card, you might want to consider Dell Studio 14 with i7....

Is it restrictly to 14''?

previously i used a 15" (XPS 1530 is 15"right??) and i found it a lil too big for me, so i'd refer 14"
i notice that
hp dv4-2120TX has a 7200rpm hdd and a 2.54GHz processor
while vaio cw26's is 5400rpm and 2.4GHz
does that affect the speed a lot?

thanks =)

Well, 0.1GHz difference isn't really that much, mostly on couple of seconds in cpu intensive job.
Well, as for the HDD, it would depends on the model of the HDD, because some 5400rpm can wins 7200rpm in performance and vice versa. Though I would suggest not to decide on a notebook based on its HDD, since its easily replaceable/upgradeable, unlike its other component such as CPU, GPU, screen...

and yes, XPS 1530 is 15''.

Well, 14'' Asus is a bit on the lower end, Asus A42JR, i5 520M + ATi HD5470@RM3099 with 2 years international warranty by default, but should be sufficient for your usage...

Though if you want higher resolution, then only the Studio 14 and Vaio CW offer that...

Well, notebooks nowadays more into glossy surface....
can consider Thinkpad Edge 13, should have the option for matte surface or Dell Vostro V13

Hmm from your recommendation i search for the 2 product and found out these spec.
But couldn't make decision on which one is better. Hope to get more advice or pros & cons from each model.

I would rate SU7300 > AMD Neo > Celeron.
With exception AMD Neo would have better graphic power but in this case, doesn't have meaning much since its usage is just for assignment/online.
While for Celeron 743, its single core, and also it would run at fullspeed at all time since it doesn't have speedstep.
Well, if have the budget, the one with SU7300 would be much preferable, though.
Both model that using it, would have similar performance, the difference is on cosmetic wise and battery life, (Vostro V13 (30Whr) will be on the low side, around 2-3 hours iinm, compared to Thinkpad with 63WHr, with the same spec, it should get double the battery life.)

The major flaw on Vostro V13 is its 1 slot RAM. In a realistic price, you can only get 2GB.
Screen, Thinkpad glossy doh.gif while Vostro V13 is matte.
