usage: can be used to run engineering software & Autocad (probably need high RAM)

Acer 4740G@RM2499, but with upgrade ram would over your budget..
or Lenovo G460-5903-5456, i3 350M + Nvidia 310M + , 2GB, FreeDOS@RM2399, then get it upgrade to 4GB ram...

silentlife : yea, paid for the rm2699. which is i paid extra rm100 after the price change . However, i could still change model to the i5 , but the sales person don't know when is the stock coming . I cant wait for more than a month, as i am goin overseas next month. ahhh dilemma dilemma

3.Spec: Not sure what can get with this budget

You mean i5-520M + ATi HD5650 + FullHD screen or just able to play 1080p HD movies?

Make sure the laptop you're looking at has a 1080p screen resolution.If it's just 720p,then you're only watching a downscaled 720p as the screen can only show 720p and not 1080p

i5+HD5650 is a total overkill for 1080p video playback

For movie and gaming ma~~ i5+HD5650 for gaimg, 1080p for full HD movie..

Any notebook with that so far?

That's Acer 5942G with i5+HD5650 for iinm RM4799.But its screen is only 720p....so u can probably forgo that Else there's Dell Studio XPS 16 with P8700/i5/i7 with HD4670

IMO,kinda hard to find laptops with 1080p screen under 5k
