Well, there's Dell Vostro 1200@RM1.2-1.4K, Compaq CQ40-712TU@RM1599, Compaq CQ41-208AU@Rm1599 but all of these are freeDOS, if include OS(RM3xx) then its out of budget.
The Inspiron 14@RM1499 and also Dell Inspiron 13@RM1399(but since you got your netbook, 13'' notebook seems redundant...) included Windows 7 Home Basic

Need help
Thinking of getting a laptop but don't really have any idea which to get. Those inspiron from dell have attractive prices but Ive seen them in person and I really can't stand the looks.

1. Brand. - not dell cause i find them ugly

2. Budget. less than 2k, cheaper is better

3. Usage - internet surfing, programming, numerical software, microsoft office, youtube 720p, adobe reader, flash games, movies . Most likely will open those programs together

3. Specs. - integrated graphics is fine
              - likes a good keyboard
            - prefers good battery life. At least 3 hours 4 is preferred
-Accidental warranty or not being flimsy cause I don't handle stuff very well

4. Size - 13 - 14 inch. Less than 2kg, Full size keyboard please. Need to bring around

Appearance is important.

Thanks

14'' with less than 2kg is only one option, Acer 4810TZ@RM1999
13'' notebook with less than 2K is none other than the Dell Inspiron...
*
Thank you
But theres so little choices, how about I remove the 2kg weight limit?

Its so hard to choose the proper laptop, the only website with easy to see details and pricing is dell's.

13.3'', T4400, 2GB, 250GB, GMA 4500MHD, Win 7 Home Basic, no optical drive.
If want optical drive then Inspiron 14, same spec, just add optical drive and extra RM100.

Can consider Acer 4740, 14'', i5 430M + GMA HD, freeDOS@RM1999
Compaq CQ40-712TU, 14'', T4400 + GMA 4500MHD, freeDOS@RM1599
Asus A42F, 14'', i3 350M + GMA HD, freeDOS@RM2099, 2 years warranty.
Though warranty wise, Dell offer better with its onsite warranty...

I guess that would be Acer 1810TZ, one of the best 11.6'' culv under 2K, its not netbook since it not using Atom..

How small you want? Similar like Acer 1810TZ? or small notebook?

AutoCAD, you wouldn't want to run that in a netbook, especially with their poor resolution, 1024x600...

If you just want to compare CPU alone, then usually Core 2 Duo is better.
But in this price range, Core 2 Duo usually paired with GMA 4500MHD or lower dedicated graphic card compared to AMD setup.
So it depends which is more important to you, GPU or CPU.

Inspiron 13, reason its lighter, but depends whether built-in optical drive is important or not for you...

hello guys, i want to make sure something about notebook spec. a52jr i3 4gb is better for this system requirements?:
- Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® dual-core processor, 3 GHz or higher with SSE2 technology
- 4 GB RAM – suggested /3GB switch (on 32 bit operating systems)
- 7 GB disk space, 2 GB free after installation
- 1,280 x 1,024 display with true color, 1,600 x 1,200 or greater recommended (OpenGL® accelerator with full OGL ICD support not required), 32-bit color video display adapter (true color), 128 MB or greater, Direct3D®-capable workstation-class graphics card. Multiple monitors are supported.

That depends on the user tolerance?
Last time I heard, its heat is usually around the center of the keyboard, and its hdd is below the right side of keyboard iinm, so some heat would be from there also...
Though I doubt it would overheat unless something blocked the vent, warm I guess.

The problem is this Direct3D®-capable workstation-class graphics card, which usually means Nvidia Quadro or ATi FirePro...
Though the A52Jr should do fine with it, with less optimized driver.

Is the 1280x1024 is strictly required? Since most notebook comes with 1366x768 nowadays..
