Can anyone recommend me a place to get laptops. Went to lowyat and saw mostly 'rojak' stores. Selling a few models of each brand.
I want to browse through too see which one is suitable for me and most likely make a purchase, main brands that Im looking for = Asus, acer, lenovo

No need to call master laugh.gif

Good enough for its price, just less attention since it carry i3 and people budget usually either under 2k or 2.5k(can get faster CPU)...
Note that it come with freeDOS

Well, depends which model of C2D you are comparing, but at least with that price range, it won't differ till double the performance...
and mostly will only be noticeable when doing cpu intensive jobs...

Lee, any recommendations for the following?:

Brand: Prefer Dell or Asus
Budget: RM3000
Specs/details: i3/i5, Nvidia, battery life not a problem since I will be plugged in most of the time, gaming (l4d2, cod, etc)
Size: Preferably 14"~15"

Thanks boss smile.gif

Dell Studio 15, i5 430M + ATi HD4570@RM2999
Asus A42Jr, i5 520M + ATi HD5470@RM2999 or the i3 350M version @RM2599 if the i5-520M out of stock...

Though for gaming wise, if you don't mind larger screen, Dell Vostro 3700, 17.3'', i5 430M + Nvidia GT330M@RM2849

enough for me to do programming/ design work? Visual Studio 08, Sql server 08, ADOBE softwares.
the processor can compare with C2d processor(those cost around 2k-2.5k)?

Well, it will run it, just depends on how fast you demand is...
It still just a sub-2k notebook...

Just upgrade the ram to 4GB and it should be fine...

or you can consider Acer 4740, can get Core i5-430M@RM1999, but with less GPU power...

Well, if you are comparing processor alone, AMD usually lose to Intel in similar price range in notebook. What AMD offer is a better value in budget notebook with sufficient CPU and better GPU than Intel setup...

and nowadays is Core i-series, not Core 2 Duo anymore...

lee is enough...
The Lenovo G460 and Lenovo G455 pretty much good enough, shouldn't differ much in gaming,
G455 seems value buy if you ask me, some seller also include it with 2 years warranty laugh.gif
