QUOTE(Shiroki @ Mar 13 2010, 10:04 PM)
Hello, not sure if this is the correct thread for it but I'm looking for a tablet PC for professional design works.

budget: about RM3k

specs: anything as long as it's able to handle Photoshop, 3D Studio Max (with ray tracing and all) and all those heavy stuff without any hiccups.

brand: I don't really have a specific band preference as long as it's not some brandless or a knock-off brand.

size: I think the standard size for tablets are 13"... was it? I don't really mind as long as it's not super tiny or hard to draw with.

First I thought about HP's tx2 series but there were a lot of complaints for its touch feature being laggy or something. Now I'm looking at Asus R1 but I'm still not sure... Any recommendations?
*
Well, I'm not really aware of tablet notebook myself, but at this price range, usually there's nothing really good about tablet with its spec, especially for handling those stuff without any hiccups. What's the specs for the Asus R1?
What I suggest is take a normal notebook 13''/14'' and pair with wacom pen tablet.
or can consider Toshiba M500-S432@RM3699, its a notebook but with touch screen, though less with the rotatable screen.
Whichever you pick, I suggest to upgrade the ram to 4GB.

QUOTE(Juvier @ Mar 13 2010, 11:03 PM)
budget: around rm2500
specs:any
brand:any
size:any

i think im only use AutoCAD Civil and online for downloading.... the best i could get maybe 4740G-432G50?
*
For the moment, I wouldn't really suggest Acer 4740G as some user facing random hanging issues, consider Dell Inspiron 14/15, i5 430M + ATi HD4330@RM2499

QUOTE(ed1torz @ Mar 13 2010, 11:27 PM)
how you rate 5942g vs asus any similar spec and pricing wise?

i would still prefer larger screen atleast 15.6 and above to 17
*
Well, Asus wise, would be Asus N61Ja@RM4999, though if you don't mind ordering online, there's Asus G51Jx@RM5.2K at mucro.asia
http://www.mucro.asia/index.php?/Asus-Note...s-G51Jx-A1.html
ATi HD5730 in Asus N61Ja is basically a higher clock version of HD5650, so if you get Acer 5942G, you can just overclock HD5650 to the same level of HD5730,

Acer 5942G vs Asus N61Ja vs Asus G51Jx
15.6'' vs 16.0'' vs 15.6''
i7 720QM vs i5 520M vs i7 720QM
ATi HD5650 vs ATi HD5730 vs Nvidia GTS360M
4GB vs 4GB vs 6GB
1366x768 vs 1366x768 vs 1920x1080
usb 2.0 vs usb 3.0 vs usb 2.0
1 year vs 2 years vs 2 years warranty

What kind of games?
You might want to consider Asus A52Jr, 15.6'', i5 430M + ATi HD5470 + 2GB + 500GB + 2 years warranty@RM2799
or if better value notebook for gaming, can consider Dell Vostro 3700, 17.3'' + i5 430M + Nvidia GT 330M@RM2849

I see.
if under RM2.6K, can consider A52Jr with i3 350M + ATi HD5470 + 2GB + 500GB@RM2599,
i3 350M and i5 430M isn't really that much different though, just that i5 430M would have 0.3GHz higher when running in single core, else both are running at the same clock speed...

RM5.2K at mucro.asia, if local, its RM7999
Well, M11X is better if you want small size,
else, can consider Asus N82Jv@RM3999, it has the same GPU with M11X but much better CPU and it also has switchable GPU so battery life shouldn't that much issue...

M11X is 11.6'' screen, but body wise near 13'' notebook size, and weighted around 2kg.
GPU - graphic card.

i7 is possible, Dell Studio 15@RM3999 but with much weaker graphic card, ATi HD4570

Well, here are the specs for the R1. It's quite an old model (4 years, I think), actually I'm not even sure of its market price by now lol.

Well, the whole point for a tablet for me was to keep the hand-eye coordination. I guess it's fine if it's impossible, maybe I'll just try a wacom cintiq with my desktop orz

you bring me luck by telling this.. i read your explanation about A52Jr's i3 and i5, if it is small different i think it is better for me to choose A52Jr, it means adding rm100 for very better graphic card with not so much different processor? and between A52Jr and dell vostro 3700 i5 gt 330m, it means i have to add more rm250 for very much different graphic and not so much different processor? i think im only care about processor, graphic, and memory but im not using for gaming, i just like designing using 3d studio max others are using online things, ym and internet also webcam. im thinking, if im buying vostro i think many spaces im wasting.
