Anderson will land a heavy fine after showdown talks with Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Brazilian held a meeting with Ferguson at their Carrington training ground on Wednesday after skipping training on Monday.

The 21-year-old midfielder was dropped for United's 4-0 victory over Hull on Saturday after a poor display in the Carling Cup at Manchester City.

Ferguson tore into Anderson at Eastlands after his under-par performance in the first-leg defeat. Anderson, who claims he was fit to, play against Hull, did not stay to watch the champions romp to victory thanks to Wayne Rooney's four-goal spree.

Signed from Porto for £18million, he has failed to live up to his price tag at Old Trafford and has only started nine Barclays Premier League games this season.

Manchester United midfielder Anderson is heading for the exit door at Old Trafford after a second bust-up with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Brazilian Anderson was missing from United's squad last night after it was claimed he flew home without club permission.

Anderson, who also missed Saturday's win over Hull, is now facing a fine of one week's salary - £50,000 - after he flew home.

It is believed that Anderson and his agents are trying to negotiate a deal with Vasco De Gama.

Brazilian press claimed on Wednesday that Anderson met with Vasco sporting director Rodrigo Caetano to try and negotiate a transfer three years after his £18million move to Old Trafford.

Caetano has insisted he has not spoken to Anderson about a potential deal but United are believed to have quizzed the player's agent Jorge Mendes about the rumours.

Anderson's agents insist he was given four days off after last week's Carling Cup semi final first leg. However, United are unlikely to have given permission for him to fly to Rio.

But it appeared that they had patched up their differences but now this latest twist has left Anderson's Old Trafford career in grave doubt.

United have so far refused to comment.
