Tell me first.. how much was the total price of the 2 jerseys including shipping fee?

We've been discussing this matter for many months already... and I was already advised by the Customs Dept to spread the news in the forum...... ensure your total purchase is below RM500... else, you will be taxed. Maybe you missed out on it.. pity though.. but what has happened has happened anyway.

Bad news is there is no way of getting back the money. Good news is that you have two awesome authentic jerseys... And you have learn a new lesson, never risk of buying jerseys with total inclusive of shipping fee of above RM500. Especially if it uses UPS.

Nice jerseys though.

That means i burnt my $$$ cry.gif What to do, what had happened has happened. Another expensive lesson learnt..

Should have do my homework extensively next time then..

However i don't have the details for the order with me right now. Have deleted the email but i have the hard copy..Will post more details tommorow...

I've double checked the invoice, it stated there the whole package cost was 93.45 pounds but it doesn't separate the VAT and Freight Charges. They sum it up. Is there any ways to dispute this?

* to make things easier, i'll scanned the invoice copy and the order tommorow for you to evaluate..

Thanks Meichel biggrin.gif

hey there, i've been thru your lesson and it taught me well.
just keep the total CIF value (CIF - which means cargo + insurance + freight charges) under rm500 and u will be safe.

your value was 93.45pounds which means its almost rm550.
and the shipping value is sometimes different because certain companies have a fixed price for their customers, but they are charged differently by the shipping company. this means that u pay less for shipping because the site pays the extra for you (to keep it low).
so the full value is reflected in the CIF on the airway bill.

so as reminded by jerseyman just keep it under rm500 and u'll definitely be fine.

Normally it takes around 2 weeks to arrive. Remember that we just had CNY holidays.. so maybe you should wait.

Sometimes the parcel is already at Pos Malaysia's branch office... they just somehow delay sending it

Invoice

What makes me wonder why does our tax includes VAT in the total too? The invoice also didn't mentioned the discount that was offered to me that is 20 pounds, so they taxed me fully on the original jersey price which is 40 pounds.

I know that i can't get back the money but i want to learn more so that i can avoid freakin tax issue in the future.

One thing that bothers me is my ex-housemate normally order football boots and gloves from ProDirect and the amount is more than RM500 but he never get taxed. Why is it so?

Bro, before proceeding further on the discussion, please bear in mind what we share here is tax information, ie prudent spending within the limits of the law, and NOT how to avoid taxes etc. If its taxable, it has to be tazed. Simple as that. But ya i know where you are coming from, as in you wanna know how to be prudent and stay within the legal limit.

You can check the Customs website for more information on different taxes applied to different goods. You will know from your own enclosures above what section you are being charged with. Follow that and you will be able to find an appendix for all taxable items in Malaysia.

I have shared the link earlier (not sure in this thread or an older thread) but anyway its not too difficult. You can browse the appendix which lists all taxable items etc. Anyway to cut the story short, i do not think boots / gloves fall in the same class as jerseys / clothings, which may explain your friend's case (I may be wrong - please check). Another could be some sites do intentionally lower the amount on the customs declaration forms to stay below the limit. Sites like Subside do that on request too.

On the VAT and discount issue, it is for buyers to actively mail the sellers to get them to send a correct invoice. You should always check the invoice to ensure they reflect the true amount you have paid. Some sites require you to specifically request for removal of VAT for being oversaes, if not they will just charge you (ala the old Subside). It is obvious the officers are in their right to tax you based on the amount reflected in the invoice accompanying the parcel. Any discounts etc if not reflected, cannot be taken into account.

i believe that they put the VAT included value on your invoice so that it's covered by (a higher) insurance value, just in case it gets lost.

the customs will tax you according to your invoice.
so whatever shown there will be used for calculations.
so if your invoice is wrong, then u should complain to newcastle's shop issit?

Good news to those who missed out on the umbro retro england repro jerseys... Umbro has reproduced them back again and this time they are from S to XXXL.

You can buy them at kitbag. Here's the link:

Slight difference is that some of the retro jerseys are plain without the name number like the previous one.. where the England Euro 96 home repro had SHEARER 9, England Mexico 86 home repro had number 10.. but the England Italia 90 home repro still has the number 19 though..
