If you wanna play DVDs mostly, get a good upscaling DVD player around @ RM300. The PQ DOES improve no matter what people say. It loads faster that a hybrid BD player. My pioneer DV-410 even sounds better than sony BD-S360 when playing DVD. When you are ready for HD, save some money and buy a good BD player. Btw, PS3 is a good BD player but a bad DVD player... My sekupang....

Agreed ... DVD player with good 1080p up-Scaling capability is definitely worth considering if you have a lot of good quality DVDs (not all type of DVDs can benefit from this as i believe everybody knows about the concept of garbage in garbage out :-) ) and it does improve the image quality significantly. I had both the Panasonic BD-60 and the Toshiba XDE ... in terms of DVD upscaling quality, the Toshiba wins hands down and i am really impressed with what the XDE can offer, it does pretty well in improving sharpness, color and contrast. However there's still a gap between the image offered by true HD (Blu-Ray) and the up-scaled DVD, XDE cannot replace or match the BD-60, but it will give your existing good DVD a new life when being watched in the current generation of the HD TVs.

My DVD are now gathering dust. Think will be selling them as scraps when the plastic price goes up. laugh.gif

The are many movies titles in DVD that are not available in BD so there is still some use in the ancient DVD, especially those older movies. So hopefully these DVD players that upscale can bring new life to these DVD. Anyway, anybody has the Philips DVP3360 DVD player and what is your experience with this model? Going at RM299 at most electical stores, very tempting!
