Its a bit better only..nothing compared to real HD material...even with 720p stuff.
Garbage pump up to 1080p is still garbage...more so with pirate stuff

What's the best dvd upscaler players that you all recommend? I've got two upscaled DVD players not in use...sometimes use for my kids educational VCDs only. Let me intro you to the world of HD... You can start with a media player like WDTVlive or AcRyan PoHD just to name a few... Believe me, you will never turn back to DVD ever again.

BD player eh? But then BD is still expensive...
I already have a PS3 but then I only plan to use it for gaming purpose only.
Well, cancel my plan to get a dvd upscaler player then.

yes, upscale dvd player did improve on PQ ( unless you still using CRT or screen samller then 32") &.... No, it cannot compete with bluray 1080p. i currently using a ps3 & Sony's upscale dvd player for my LCD, coz playing dvd on ps3 is not a good idea, the lens will 'kong' faster.

I don't mind if the quality is below Blu-ray 1080p..just that I can happily watch my Dvds using my Samsung 32" Lcd tv (not full HD & i don't really need full HD really).
Sgt_Pepeer, Can give some screenshots/pics example?

Sgt_Pepeer, Can give some screenshots/pics example? hehe... sorry i dont have digit-cam i using a full hd 37" lcd, IMO upscale dvd PQ look less jaggy, better color & look much easy on eyes compare to normal dvd. Actually PS3 do have upscale function on DVD playback, but dont test it with 'local' single-layer dvd, coz most of them is crap. try it on proper dual-layer dvd. & i agree with you, there's no different on full-hd & hd-ready if the screen size is 32"

Currently i am using the Toshiba XDE, a DVD player with 1080p upscale capability and the Sharp 37' LCD (720p + 100hz) and i did notice that that the DVD play back from the XDE is very impressive. It does improve the DVD image quality for sure, but off course its still cant match the true HD quality. Nevertheless the image quality is still highly depending on the DVD source, and if you are getting those good imported DVD or good "ahem" DVD (either its being dup from a very good source or converted from blue-ray), the XDE will definitely a good choice to go for as you will be amazed on how good the XDE can improve the DVD.
I do have a WDTV as well, and watching the downloaded 720p and 1080p MKV is a great pleasure, but the difference in terms of image quality are not that huge, not until you sit right next to the TV (normally my viewing distance is about 5-6ft). So in conclusion, getting a good DVD player with good upscale capability will give your current good DVD collection a boast for sure, as i doubt you will are going to repurchase all the same DVD titles in blu-ray or re-download all of them, right? or perhaps a good blue-ray player with good DVD upscale capability worth a thought?

I've bought one last weekend at Senq for RM299:
Philips DVP3360K.
So far, it's excellent for me. It plays all of my ahem DVD movies flawlessly, except a few dvd that is really spoilt; those it can't run.

Sub 500 price is not a usual market price for the player. It normally retail at rm799 at almost all of the shops. Have to wait for any offers that come out dunno when.... so for those who cannot wait or not so lucky to find one, an upscaller dvd player is another alternative that is widely available.

If you wanna play DVDs mostly, get a good upscaling DVD player around @ RM300. The PQ DOES improve no matter what people say. It loads faster that a hybrid BD player. My pioneer DV-410 even sounds better than sony BD-S360 when playing DVD. When you are ready for HD, save some money and buy a good BD player. Btw, PS3 is a good BD player but a bad DVD player... My sekupang....
