it's personal preferences. however i did read some said for first few service is better to go for mineral.
however fully synthetic is mean for high performance vehicle... i doubt our forte consider as high performance vehicle le..
no point waste so much money on it... i might either go with mineral or semi synthetic.

Just completed my first service. Adjusted the alignment, so now steering feels stable. I also went with the fully synthetic lube. But after assessing the damage a little regret cause i was swayed by the service guy recommendation. Can I easily switch back to mineral on my next service?

i could say forte makes my driving experience happy everyday... cool2.gif
last night i saw a waja park next to me in traffic lights... he purposely reverse his car to see the back of forte...
let's put aside the wow factor (which forte will become more common in future).
daily driving is good enough. i don't need to accelerate hard to rev from 60 to 100km/h the engine was so smooth (yes.. a bit loud when rev more than 4k, but it's normal.. u want to hear that sound and that's the purpose of revving it)
the best part is the stock audio system.. it amazed all my passengers everytime when i tell them is stock audio system.
remember to use only MP3.. CD player is not good in reading scratched disc even just slightly... especially MP3 CD.. bad.. sad.gif

yes you can switch back to mineral for ur next service.
also ppl no doubt the fully synthetic can last for 10k.. but what about the filter??
that's why i prefer 5k service to make the filter more cleaner.

Added on January 23, 2010, 3:23 pmGuys , wana ask 1 thing which im unclear...
For car Registration plate number... RM300 ( already included in the initial price 81,800 for 1.6SX) right?
this is for running random numbers.. if we wanna book a number, need to pay extra... so we just need to topup extra $$ on top of the RM300 ? rclxub.gif

forte eat ron91 and above. so ron95 is sufficient.
but if you want to try ron97, now is the best time.
don't wait until petrol price up ler.

heard ron97 give better mileage. experience by myself but only pump full once. so cannot comment further.
if ron97 give substantial better mileage, then it already justify the price difference right.
in the end the cost is the same one.

example, for full tank clock 600KM
if use ron95 clock only 550KM

price difference for full tank between ron95 & ron97 is rm10 (example only)
then if ron95 with rm10 petrol can give 50KM.

in the end the cost is the same right.

anybody want to try? do some research?
hahahahahaha

no. that one included for normal number process.
if you want your own number, have to pay separately. cannot deduct from the initial amount. consider burn that one.

From the manual, recommended engine oil viscosity for forte is 5W20/5W30 or 10W30.
But I doubt that Naza SC will follow the recommended viscosity...If they use Petronas Syntium 3000 I think viscosity is 40.
Any comments from current forte owners? I think lower viscosity feel lighter in handling??

the one in the market is 40. the one that SC use is 30 (according to Naza).
if you read the parts number on the bil (1st service) clearly state 30. but the real thing that they pour into our engine is mystery because they didn't give the bottle.

and imagine this... in market only got 40, but petronas and naza working both hand only supply 30 at SC.
money making machine right?

for customer that sayang their car will stick with SC. for those who adventurous, will try other solution outside. hahahaha.
by then i believe use mineral or semi synthetic is just fine. only fully synthetic need to stick with SC (if viscosity 30 only available at SC)

thanks for the info.
now i'm using shell ron97. it does give better mileage. few times saw 7.1l/100km on the screen rclxms.gif

what is the effect on the performance? any other things that should be considered? thinking about using ron95 if really can save money. icon_rolleyes.gif

Searched Castrol website, all their top range or Fully Synthetic oil are 40.
My wild guess is viscosity 30 may not suitable for Malaysia hot Climate. In Korea maybe yes bcos of thier cold climate.
So, 40 should be suitable for use.

http://www.castrol.com/castrol/multiplepro...ntentId=6008246

My conclusion is higher viscosity = better protection to car engine
lower viscosity = better performance

it's into the last week of january, and 3 weeks to cny......and no news of the 2l..........so i will have to presume it's not coming before cny.........pity, as i will need the extra car over the next month, but after that, no more urgency........
